I just wish he had gone to a Dome team. Would make his career a lot easier. (But at least it wasn't Pittsburgh -- the graveyard of kickers.)

You're right but if/as he stays in SF, the outdoor weather factor found in stadiums east of Calif won't be a bother anyway except in away games. He should be just fine in the sun/fog/coolness of SF. Almost like a dome but outdoors! Wish the 49ers were on TV in Mich more often.
For him, I would be more concerned about the cost of gas, the ridiculous cost of housing, and general left coast factors!

Nico was drafted in the 3rd and makes@$1.2M. A starter condo can be had for a mill or so. Moody will be fine.

While Zach ended up as the #12 recruit according to 24/7, #7 per On3, and #10 per ESPN in the 2019 class, you make a very good point regarding where Zach was ranked vs Jake. I hope Jake has a long and highly successful NFL career.

Some of the mocks I’ve seen had Ruggles from OSU as the #1 kicker in this draft. Most of the mocks also didn’t have a kicker drafted at all. Glad SF recognizes how stone cold Moody was the last two seasons kicking for Michigan.

As expected, Kiper ranks the Moody pick among the worst on day 2. IDK, but being able to draft a near automatic kicker from 50 in w/ 60ish range might just be more important to the 49ers than a journeyman player that might never contribute anything meaningful, but what do I know?🤷♂️

Kiper. If that dude was actually legitimate he'd have been in a front office job for the last 25+ years. Dude has a NE accent and is somehow entertaining to some (many). Of course it needs mentioned he's more than likely a puppet of the NFL and eventually utilized to inform/misinform the public and hell, maybe even the teams within the league. I'm sure he "works hard" but good golly his job is a protypical made-up American dream job of little substance.
If you are every bored, read through a list of Kiper's can's miss prospects from previous years. Many of them missed. He is a professional guesser who is stuck in an old football mindset, who is wrong as often as he is right.
Good for Moody. (Although if the Lions had drafted him this high, I think the yowling would have hit glass-shattering levels.)

Predictably, pundits are aghast that someone would take a kicker in round 3. When you have a complete team like SF and can add a guy who is money in the bank like Moody, seems to make perfect sense to do so. He will mean more than a backup LB or CB to that team.
