I'm sorry. It's my fault M lost because...

So...I watched M hockey for the first time tonight.  It was 1-1 when I turned it on.  And then they lost.  It's my fault.  I'm sorry.

We all have committed tactical errors (or have superstitions that truly have no impact on the game) and it's time we confess and bear them to the board.  For instance, M hockey loses when I watch (at least since the '96 NCAA Final).  And I watched game 3 against Vandy in the MBB WS.  I'm truly sorry.

M football loses:

- after I trim me beard (stated as such for my fellow pirates)

- when I wear a M shirt

- if I shower before noon on Saturday

Confession is good for the soul.  Tell us all how you made M lose a game.

... my parents added skinnemax...

I wasn't that lucky, but every once in a while the scrambled pay per view porn would be just right for me to see a boob, and between that m, victorias secret catalogs and sports illustrated swimsuit issues, I got through the early 90s. Dial-up internet and a 1200 mbs modem was a gamechanger. Of course I have to wear thick glasses now because im blind as a masturbating bat, but at least the hair on my palms shaves off. Can't imagibe how blind and harry kids these days are going to be, with all that free porn.

Jinxes

Taping the game for later, then seeing a live score.

Not watching, so as not to jinx, then seeing a score.

Not watching.

Watching but turning it off as soon as something goes wrong, so maybe the jinx won't last.

Watching.

Talismans

Miller beer during the game on tv used to work.

Seeing the game in person has been infallible at Michigan Stadium. O-1 for bowls (BWW in Tempe)

Michigan is 3-0 when I’ve attended “The Game” in Columbus. I could’ve went to the #1 vs. #2 matchup, but I decided to stay home instead of dealing with Buckeye fans. I have this guilty feeling that they would’ve won if I would’ve been there.

I didn’t know my friend Jonny was a jinx but I should have.  The only games I watched with him were ‘00 UCLA, ‘01 and ‘02 OSU and ‘01 Washington (all losses).  And yet I invited him to attend ‘05 Minnesota with me.  We’d won 17 in a row against them (I think) and we lost.  My Jinx of a friend was buying a t-shirt when Manningham returned a kickoff for a TD which was basically the only highlight of the game for us.

For all games on TV: I keep my hands clasped together in the same position the entire game or we lose.

For OSU games specifically: I do the above, but also I use one hand to shield my line of sight from the OSU portion of the score indicator since it has scarlet and gray colors my eyes will not abide. You can see the problem! Because I don't have a third hand to do both the clasping and the shielding, the universe has decided we must always lose and I must remain in purgatory.

Not your fault. It was the dumbass color commentator who announced, “That may be the game winner,” when we took the lead with about 5 minutes to go. The dipshit then said the exact same thing when MSU took the lead back with about 40 seconds to go.

In 2003, right after the OSU game, I met Chris Perry at the movie theater where I worked. I shook his hand and said congratulations, told him he was my favorite player.

I have not washed that hand since. Ans I can't help but wonder if that is the reason OSU has dominated us so badly in the years since then. Every time I think about washing it, I just can't bring myself to do it.

During the 2020 season my two UM buddies and I decided to get together in one of our garages and watch the games (socially distanced of course). We committed to watching all of them. Life happened and we only watched two of them together - Minnesota and Rutgers. I can't help thinking our lack of dedication caused the 4 losses. We're sorry.

When we lose on Football Saturdays, I was only able to complete 2/3 of the trifecta by watching the game and eating a sandwich. Try as I might, wife wasn’t turned on by my fits of Tourette’s while describing playcalls during the games and I was unable to close the deal many times. I don’t apologize for what I have said nor do I regret not sharing my sandwiches, but I am sorry we lost those games.
