I'll take Tate over Terrelle

Submitted by bluebrains98 on
Just more evidence Terrelle Pryor doesn't belong in Blue. Finally allowed to talk to the press, when asked about the Vick eye black, he said "I shouldn't have put it on,...[but] I'd do it again..." Not exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4541054

Not exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer.
He's about as sharp as a wooden spoon. But in all seriousness, I'll acknowledge pryor is a phenomenal athlete, but I'm still glad we have Tate. Just seems like a better fit.

Terelle is the superior athlete, no question. Tate is the superior quarterback. It's similar to baseball. There are guys who are top notch athletes who can't be successful, and then there are guys who aren't as athletically inclined, but simply know how to play the game.

Attitude. Desire. Commitment. Passing Accuracy. Leader. Born Winner. Bred and Trained to be a QB. Lest we forget MOXIE and POWER that makes the ability to Destroy a Planet seem Insignificant... 'nuff said

This may not be a popular sentiment, but I have a feeling that if Jimmy Clausen was a Wolverine, and Tate was at ND, we'd feel exactly the same about Clausen as we now feel about Tate, and vice versa. Obviously though, Pryor is unsalvagable.

How will we feel in three years when the MSM has fully Tim Tebow-ized Tate Forcier? I have a feeling we will all still like him and be thankful he is on our side. And one really cool thing about Forcier is that there is no market in the NFL for an undersized QB, so he should stay his full four years. Of course, he will already be in grad school by his senior year. If he has to "work" in the summer, though, I hope he leaves the circumcisions to someone else and finds a job with better tips.

While I do think the MSM will try to Tim Tebow-size Tate, I don't think there will be such hate towards him from non-Michigan fans. You won't see Tate doing a "You will never see a team play as hard as...God Bless." You won't see Tate in the Philippines circumcising little boys. You won't see Tate beating his chests constantly or yelling "LOOK AT ME!!!" after cliche halftime speeches

Can I use this quote for a sociological manuscript on ingroup and outgroup identity formation? Here're some others: I have a feeling that if Pryor committed to M, I would like him a lot more. I have a feeling that if we were born to the same mother, I would like you more than I presently do. I have a feeling that if Tate had been born in Afghanistan in a pro-Mujahideen village in 1982, then we would like him less than Jimmy Clausen in his current form. I have a feeling that if Jimmy Clausen was born in Germany in 1921, he would have committed horrible atrocities during WWII not because he is innately a bad person but because he was compelled to do so due to social influence. I have a feeling that if the journal article that I'm reading right now wasn't written by three scholars from OSU, then I would be more engaged with it than looking at MGoBlog.

the point about Mallett is a great one, IMO. the kid had tremendous upside, as he's starting to show at Arkansas, but, I can't say I was disappointed that he left. Tate has a perfect amount of confidence to go with his excellent effort. He may try to do rediculous things (Favre plays) and sometimes he runs like he's in HS, but he wants to lead this team, which is fantastic.

Clausen, Pryor, and Tate are all cocky to some degree. Comes with the territory. So far (and I hope he doesn't change), Tate's cockiness isn't of the edgy, in-your-face, better-than-you style. His cockiness is more of a young, refreshing, and naive cockiness. Thinking about it, I think the difference is Tate's overall attitude which is a big part of anyone's success in any endeavor. He's got the right attitude for success as a quarterback even though he doesn't have the superior physical gifts of some he is compared with. His great attitude comes across in his play on the field, how he seems to interact with teammates, and his statements/interaction with the media. If he keeps this great outlook and attitude, his up-side over the next 3 1/2 years will be really fun to watch! And I would rather have him over those other guys any day.

Forcier has what it takes without question in a lot of areas. He is incredibly accurate on the run which you either have or you don't and it looks like he has a nearly impossible for his age-football iq. If he stays four years, he will be on the heisman ballot at some point if he remains healthy. I don't believe Pryor is unsalvagable. He has a lot to learn (if he possesses the ability to learn which from the looks of things is a question), but he is not just a little bit more athletic than Tate, its apples and oranges, and OSU is rolling folks right now. I know the popular thread is UM over OSU, pardon me for believing that to be far from likely at this point. Hope I'm wrong.

to people but they just assume it's sour grapes. tate's been at UM for 5 games and already has 2 marquee comeback wins to his name. wins that simply would not have happened had he not been on the team. how many does pryor have? who has he beaten?

I think Tate is cocky too, but that it hasn't turned him into a colossal tool like it did Clausen. I'm just saying that Tate's probably not the kind of guy we'd be prone to like if not for the fact that he is our favorite person in the world right now. I'm happy he's on our side. With Hart gone, it's about time we had some cocky attitude back on the team. As for Tebow...he is in a unique zone that I bet Forcier won't have to worry about. Tebow could completely shift my opinion of him 180 degrees if he'd simply bang some ridiculously hot chicks.

Living in Ohio, Buckeye fans that I have talked to would also rather have Tate. It's funny they all agree with me that Tate is a better quarterback and they almost all think Pryor would be alot better off being a receiver where he wouldn't have to think.

...but Tate wanted to come here from the beginning and remained committed even when we had Newsome and Beaver aboard. That's a Michigan man in my eye and I'd rather have someone who's that committed to wearing the Maize and Blue rather than Pryor who's gotta wait till after the deadline.

suitable...considering his buddy booster Ted Sarniak financed that action figure... didnt help him to read defenses though....its nice to have a QB at Michigan that doesnt need a chaperone for one of his rare media appearances.

Tate's superiority is summed up by these 5 factors: 1) Football IQ 2) Passing skills: ball speed, foot speed, decision speed 3) Accuracy 4) Leadership 5) Innate winning instincts T Force is the truth!

The jury is still out on both of these guys, so I'm going to wait at least another year before declaringg that Forcier is the better college QB. Pryor should be in RichRod's system. I do think that he would be a much better player if he were at U-M right now. Tressel's got a Ferrari stuck in 3rd gear there. The next seven games will tell us a lot about Forcier. There are four games that will provide more challenge than anything that Tate has yet to face. We know that Forcier is at least great for a freshman. We don't know whether he is great, period.

it would be easy to declare tate as the greatest freshman ever, better than pryor, barkley, et al. but obviously there is a LOT that remains to be seen, and i think that it starts tomorrow night @ kinnick. tate has already convinced me that the future of this team (at least at the qb position) is as bright as anywhere in CFB. the downside of all of this is that we may be forced to be patient, which is not easy. i guess that's why they call it a virtue.

The reason for my post was just to say that they are close enough statistically where even if Pryor turns out to have better numbers and more wins in the end, I'd take Tate simply because I couldn't stand four years of cringing at moronic Pryor sound bites. He just isn't Michigan material. Granted, he might behave differently if he were wearing blue, but based on what I have seen, I'd take Tate, even with a slight statistical decrement.
