Score more points than them.
December 9th, 2019 at 11:39 AM ^
Usually the team that scores the most points wins the game.
December 9th, 2019 at 12:01 PM ^
You both are clearly wrong. Historically defense wins championships. So we need to stop them from scoring as many points as us.
December 9th, 2019 at 12:41 PM ^
Ship their gear to Newark so they have to forfeit.
Almost worked this past weekend for The Fighting Tom Brady’s...
December 9th, 2019 at 12:43 PM ^
But offense wins games. We aren't playing for a championship. Just trying to win a game.
December 9th, 2019 at 12:35 PM ^
We need a Christmas Miracle
December 9th, 2019 at 1:15 PM ^
That was my first thought, and as I opened this I wondered how far I would need to scroll to find it had already been posted. Not far.
December 9th, 2019 at 7:35 PM ^
Put 10 pounds of ex-lax in their pregame meal. Might get messy but i like the odds
December 9th, 2019 at 11:24 AM ^
How do we beat Alabama?
With a goddamn baseball bat
December 9th, 2019 at 1:42 PM ^
Never take a baseball bat to a gunfight.
December 9th, 2019 at 11:25 AM ^
Turn the competition into a brain game or spell bowl - a surefire winning strategy.
If we cannot successfully change the competition, then run RPO on every play and pray for a miracle.
December 9th, 2019 at 1:01 PM ^
RPO to our six NFL receivers. Still can’t believe it took until the bowl game to figure this out. Nico is criminally underused.
December 9th, 2019 at 6:19 PM ^
Hard to be successful against an elite defense when the "R" in the RPO isn't very good. Our running game is so not talented. They are decent middle of the road B10 backs. If we rush for over 75 yards agains Bama it will be a miracle.
December 9th, 2019 at 11:25 AM ^
Run & throw it where they ain't!!!!
December 9th, 2019 at 11:25 AM ^
Play a more bend-don't-break style of defense to limit big plays a-la-Iowa. Let Shea completely loose and see what happens. Worst case scenario he keeps chucking it to Bama and we lose, but we've seen enough of Shea to know that interceptions aren't his weakness.
December 9th, 2019 at 11:26 AM ^
Literally nothing anymore to hold back for Shea.
December 9th, 2019 at 11:30 AM ^
Why would you play bend don't break against an inexperienced QB who is mistake prone? Blitz the shit out of him and put the fear of God into the lad.
December 9th, 2019 at 11:35 AM ^
As we saw against OSU, blitzing our LBs every damn down opens up running lanes that wouldn't be there otherwise, and lends itself to more big plays both on the ground and through the air. If there's one thing Alabama has a huge advantage in it's the run game. Don't let them get past the LB level.
December 9th, 2019 at 7:09 PM ^
"As we saw against OSU, blitzing our LBs every damn down opens up running lanes "
That's not what happened. People just see poor defense against rush + Brown known for blitzing = must have blitzed too much
December 9th, 2019 at 11:36 AM ^
THIS. Auburn beat them because they got that QB to throw two pick 6s. Put him under constant pressure from different directions.
December 9th, 2019 at 12:03 PM ^
Part of me, the 10 year old part, thinks they should just tell the Punter to enjoy the bench for the day because we're going to run the Gattis spread to the hilt and never kick.
I mean yeah, you might lose the game, but who cares? See if you can score a bajillion and have some fun.
December 9th, 2019 at 12:11 PM ^
I like this idea for some reason...
December 9th, 2019 at 12:50 PM ^
This is one of the few winning strategies Michigan will have available for this game. It's going to be a shootout - do not leave points on the field!
December 9th, 2019 at 1:37 PM ^
December 9th, 2019 at 11:25 AM ^
Hope Hinton and Mazi Smith get super good. Its going to be Wisconsin/OSU all over again where a complete inability to stop interior runs is going to mean they put up points essentially at will and we just aren't there yet offensively to win that sort of game.
December 9th, 2019 at 11:28 AM ^
Hold walk on tryouts with a 400 lb minimum weight requirement.
December 9th, 2019 at 11:42 AM ^
"Its going to be Wisconsin/OSU all over again"
December 9th, 2019 at 12:12 PM ^
This is a horrible gif and I hope the kid is okay but damn I can't stop chuckling.
December 9th, 2019 at 1:14 PM ^
You know that's going to be played at their weddings sometime down the road.
December 9th, 2019 at 1:45 PM ^
If they're Bama fans they may end up married to each other.
December 9th, 2019 at 11:27 AM ^
Drink heavily. It won't work but we'll feel ok about it
December 9th, 2019 at 11:27 AM ^
Their defense has been kinda shitty all year, and a bunch of their best guys won't play in the game anyway.
Their offense will be a backup QB who kinda stinks throwing to a bunch of WR who didn't play all year because the starters will be preparing for the NFL draft.
December 9th, 2019 at 11:33 AM ^
The backup QB who stinks. You mean the guy who went 26-39 for 335 yards and 4 touchdowns against Auburn? Got it.
December 9th, 2019 at 12:35 PM ^
He also threw 2 pick sixes
December 9th, 2019 at 3:23 PM ^
Those are so rare. Credit to the returners who avoided being tackled.
December 9th, 2019 at 11:54 AM ^
That isn't going to happen. And what is frustrating for actual fans of this team is that saying that it is going to happen feeds trolls who will claim that Alabama "didn't play their guys" even if not one player sits the game out because the only other thing they have to talk about is Wake Forest.
Michigan's players will play in this game. Alabama's players will play in this game. Whoever wins the game has won a pretty big game. Let it be that.
December 9th, 2019 at 2:08 PM ^
It doesn't matter, IMO, in some time all people will remember is "Michigan beat Alabama" (if that happens, of course). How many OSU fans bing up the caveat that only a couple of times in the past 16 editions of 'The Game' has Michigan entered the game without missing critically important players? None of them do, all that they remember is they won.
December 9th, 2019 at 5:13 PM ^
Alabama's best players will not play in the game. I dunno why that's so annoying to people here. Their best NFL eligible players will sit it out, because it's a lowly Citrus Bowl and they spend every offseason mentally preparing to win the whole thing, not play a bowl game before NYD. They will not have their best against Michigan.
This is an opportunity for Michigan to change narratives nationally, but whatever happens won't actually mean much of anything to people who pay close attention.
December 9th, 2019 at 9:09 PM ^
I just think you are wrong. I don’t see more that 2 current Alabama starters sitting the game, at most. We may have that many out, ourselves.
December 10th, 2019 at 12:17 AM ^
I would be surprised if Jeudy did not sit this one out. Many of those star Alabama guys went there for the right to play in the NFL. And it's not close to a playoff game. Does Jerry Jeudy need a meaningless bowl game to prove that he is a high first round draft pick?
December 9th, 2019 at 11:29 AM ^
Take them to Universal Studios and hope they get sick from drinking too much butterbeer at Harry Potter land.
Other than that, I got nothing.
December 9th, 2019 at 12:07 PM ^
I'm reading Harry Potter to my son now.
Butter bear just sounds like a hell of a hangover.
December 9th, 2019 at 12:13 PM ^
That’s not a bad idea. What about taking the team field trip early this year and show the world how serious Michigan really is about academics by blowing off the bowl game?
December 9th, 2019 at 11:29 AM ^
Anyone else at least a little surprised that the powers that be haven't even made an obligatory "Michigan versus Alabama in the Citrus Bowl" front page post? I mean I get it, football BPONE and all that but it's been almost 24 hours since the announcement and it's just radio silence over here.
December 9th, 2019 at 11:37 AM ^
They're just waiting for the inevitable announcement that we are actually playing Florida instead.
December 9th, 2019 at 11:41 AM ^
We have always been at war with Eurasia
December 9th, 2019 at 11:43 AM ^
I have been wondering this as well. I am glad that Brian does not run a clickbait assembly line but I still would like the basics taken care of.
December 9th, 2019 at 12:03 PM ^
I think everyone's in "nothing really matters!" mode still, which I understand. But whatever, it's a New Year's Day bowl game against Alabama, so why not enjoy the ride.
I get that a playoff system of some kind was necessary, but I also hate it because it does take away from the other bowl games. I honestly don't give much of a fuck about the playoff. All I want is for us to beat Ohio State, and maybe one day even win our conference. The rest is just a bunch of bowl games to me, each no more pointful than any other, really. Root for your school and have fun doing it: that's my sage advice.
December 9th, 2019 at 12:28 PM ^
Mostly agree, except for the "playoffs system was necessary" part. It wasn't, it came from pressure from the media, not fans (yes many wanted it but there was zero fan pressure), and it has had the same negative affect many warned about--devaluing all non playoff bowl games. Now most higher end teams barely show up emotionally at the bowls.
