holy crap, penn state-wisconsin is an UGLY game
seriously, that's just ridiculous. 1:42 to go in the GAME and psu leads 35-30. In the SECOND half!
psu currently shooting 34% and wisco at 29%. ouch.

As soon as Michigan State got out to a lead on Purdue, I sent this text to a buddy of mine:
"You just know MSU is going to win, and then get to play PSU for a trip to the finals. They're just that lucky....."
Sometimes it sucks being right.

You make it sound like Penn State is a walk in the park...they're no slouch. MSU will have their hands full.
March 11th, 2011 at 11:35 PM ^
The thing about PSU is that they're heavily reliant on one guy (Battle) to score, especially from downtown. He had a brutal day today. I don't know how much more he can give tomorrow.

I guarantee an MSU win tomorrow. Guarantee it. Absolutely guarantee it. Because MSU is exactly the kind of horseshoe-up-their-ass team that would have the path to the BTT final cleared for them by the basketball gods making Purdue and Wisconsin play like 100% pure Colombian ass. If there's one thing in this life that's certain, it's that. It's not like Penn State played well today.
March 12th, 2011 at 12:21 AM ^
And if there's one team luckier than MSU, it's Ohio State. They won't have to face the #2 or #3 seeds, and any team they face in the final will be playing on its last legs. If we don't get it done tomorrow, they're winning the BTT.

would be the worst thing that's ever happened to me in my life.
March 11th, 2011 at 11:24 PM ^
That would definitely suck.
But if you told me it was either lose to the Nuts tomorrow or lose to MSU in the finals, I'd take the loss in the finals.
At least we would have beat OSU and we'd still have a 2-1 record against Sparty.
March 11th, 2011 at 11:26 PM ^
What about November 2006-January 2007?
March 11th, 2011 at 11:28 PM ^
Take a second and get some perspective man. If I had offered you at the beginning of the season that we, as the 4th seed in the BTN, would lose to MSU in the Big Ten Tournament final would you have taken it? Especially since it would also involve beating the #1 team in the country. Losing to Sparty always sucks, but it would be far from the worst sports thing to happen in your life.
That is way too rational.

Looks like Lunardi has PSU as the last team to Dayton now. Big game for them tomorrow.
March 11th, 2011 at 11:34 PM ^
Yeah, but there's still a couple bid-stealing conferences out there. They lose to Sparty and they're the likely one squeezed out.
March 11th, 2011 at 11:51 PM ^
Might even be that buzzer beater in the VT/FSU game being ruled no good. So close.
March 11th, 2011 at 11:40 PM ^
UM is in. The teams that should be nervous are bubble teams like BC. PSU winning probably killed their at-large chances.
March 11th, 2011 at 11:40 PM ^
MSU now gets to play a softer opponent in PSU (although Wiscy obviously didn't look good tonight either). Meanwhile, MSU looked good in their game tonight. I was much happier when MSU decided to suck at basketball...
March 11th, 2011 at 11:56 PM ^
now the spartans are going to the big ten championship game. Were never going to hear the end of it.
Unless we beat them in it....
March 12th, 2011 at 10:04 AM ^
We beat this exact team twice. Any bullshit they come up with about "not playing to potential" is just that: bullshit.
They aren't a better team than they were when we played them a week ago. This is one time where you can just point them to ESPN and ask them to look up the scores.
March 12th, 2011 at 12:13 AM ^
I would have preferred PSU just go away tonight, but this probably moves them into the top 50. Michigan is now up to 6 top 50 wins, with Oakland and probably Clemson just on the outside.
March 12th, 2011 at 12:20 AM ^
Oakland was a 54 before the conference tournney. They won it, so they might have moved into a top 50 RPI team.
March 12th, 2011 at 12:45 AM ^
The player of the game shot 3 for 18. That about sums it up perfectly.
To quote a great movie, ...
They looked like a bunch of retards trying to hump a doorknob
I was dealing with some non-sports stuff, so I didn't see much of this one, but when I tuned in with about seven minutes to go, it took me literally a minute as well to comprehend that it was the SECOND half. Neither team could find the basket with a Garmin, for Pete's sake.
We've had an unreal season. That's all that should matter. We're a tough team for anyone to beat and we're playing for championships right now. That's what Michigan does in all sports. I refuse to believe there is anyone on this board who is fearful of any scenerio. People on here are too bright for that. Plus, this team has earned more of our trust than that.
Plus just think about the future beyond this year. Really exciting. Some of these other schools who might be making a run right now probably wish they were set up for the future like Michigan is.
