Hide Negative Posters Script
EDIT: Hmm, so it works fine when I load it from my own machine, but if I load it from the link it doesn't seem to work, even though it seems to be exactly the same code. I'll try to figure this out before the next release.
EDIT EDIT: Alright, if you download the zip file from the link below, unpack it, and open the file in chrome, it works. This is much more complicated than just clicking the link. Many apologies.

--
Alright everyone. In the site improvements thread from earlier today, someone mentioned that my suggestion of allowing us to block users with negative points might be able to be taken care of via a greasemonkey script.
I hadn't ever tried them before, but it turns out hiding posts by users with negative points is actually pretty simple. Anyway, if you're in Chrome or if you have GreaseMonkey installed on FireFox, clicking this link should allow you to install the script.
DISCLAIMER: I haven't put anything purposely malicious into this, but I also haven't ever written a GreaseMonkey script before, so there's always a possibility that this will cause other sites to go haywire. For instance, I haven't put any checking in to make sure you're actually on MGoBlog, etc. Try at your own risk.
When I've got more time I'm going to try to tweak it so you can adjust point thresholds, etc. All this does is look for the - in front of the point total. Thresholds would require parsing the points, which I wasn't able to do in the half hour I spent putting this together.
Enjoy!

I'm not going to lie, he is ladies man. Or as they say in the state below the heaven they call Michigan, "he is THE ladies man."

But then how will we see FuManBlue to pos bang the hell out of him?
January 13th, 2011 at 6:49 PM ^
I'll also try to make some sort of whitelist/blacklist type script too. I haven't looked into whether you can have stored, user editable data in a script yet.

+ 1 to help you on your way. If you do make it back to positive territory, I think a "Hello (Again): FuManBlue" post would be appropriate or at the very least a diary chronicling your adventures in Bolivia.

It is kind of ironic that Brian himself has been criticized lately for starting, what are viewed by some, emo whine posts.

Apparently I've missed something. What happened to FuManBlue? Did Brian take massive points from you?

I thought this was going to be a humorous piece with some html and negative phrases inside of it. But this is even better. Great job.

Hmmm... what about the dude in Bolivian that we're trying to set free? I like his comments.

I mean this script is cool and I will try it and use it to an extent all people need to chill out and realize that people can have differing opinions. I agree that people being negative for the sake of being negative, without even adding anything to conversation, are useless (I think these are called "haters" or "Drew Sharps" ).
Whatever happened to the simple 3 step conversation: Listen-Analyze-Respond. All of society has become so scared to listen to opinions other than their own. It's now officially a sin for a democrat to watch Fox News or a Republican watch MSNBC. Whatever happened to healthy debate that doesn't automatically become a flamewar or people posting pictures of cats eating hamburgers or whatever.

Very cool. I heard Brady Hoke is working on a script that filters out Brian's negativity.

I downloaded the zip file, but when I try to open it I get an error message saying:
'document' undefined
Do you know how I'm screwing this up?
January 13th, 2011 at 9:25 PM ^
I'm not sure. It might be because I just used the default Mac compression... I know sometimes that causes issues when things are opened on a PC, but I haven't been a Mac user long enough to know how to work around that.

I love MGoBlog.

Is there something that can turn the sides on the page from blue to just white and make the font color to just black?
When I'm at home it is not an issue, but at work the blue sides and the yellow font can be seen from across the office. My boss does not like me to waste time on mgoblog. This will help me waste more time without getting in trouble.

Why is this an issue? Do you want to live in a Pollyanna world? Ever read Fahrenheit 451?Only good news? Sounds like what you have in China and North Korea!
