Yaaaaaaaay! Thought it was sec receiver though?

* Thought it was an SEC receiver?

TVH mentioned Jaquay Williams as someone to keep an eye on because he wanted to visit in December or something and the internets ran with it.

Close enough -- YAY!!!
February 1st, 2012 at 1:07 AM ^
triple post ftw :D.

I don't think Cincy is in the SEC...but I'm glad to have him aboard. Despite his size (you know how the recruiting sites loves size), the kid is highly regarded. Welcome aboard Dennis.

that state down South! Well the cat is out of the bag! Welcome to Michigan Norfleet. My nickname hence forth for you is "On Your Feet!" can't wait to see this kid fly downfield! GO BLUE
February 1st, 2012 at 1:14 AM ^
Rivals compares him to Darren Sproles who...is not bad...actually quite the opposite. I don't know how they're going to use Hayes, Norfleet and the like, but I can't wait to see. They both have talent that can really help the team do things.
February 1st, 2012 at 1:18 AM ^
and even if it's Cincinnati it's still in the Buckeye state and it just lost a recruit! A big +1 for Hoke and his staff!
February 1st, 2012 at 1:23 AM ^
Yeah, sorry I'm not going to pretend it's the same thing. However, I like keeping instate talent instate. That is something to be happy about.
February 1st, 2012 at 1:26 AM ^
I thought I read somewhere he did like a month ago? I was told he didn't
February 1st, 2012 at 1:24 AM ^
Hey they can't get mad. They got one from us a week ago. I'd say a pretty fair straight up trade for Caleb Stacey,
February 1st, 2012 at 1:44 AM ^
Kid has some serious speed, just as importantly, he gets to that speed pretty damn quick. Cuts and vision both look pretty great. Not much on the film with him taking on tacklers but still damn impressive.

Size doesn't matter when youre running through the OL class we're bringing in.
February 1st, 2012 at 1:25 AM ^
Yeah, I wasn't saying that size mattered. I was saying that recruiting sites think size matters. I don't necessarily agree with that. Talent is talent.
February 1st, 2012 at 1:43 AM ^
Yeah, talent is talent to a certain extent. WR, RB, DB, and Special team guys can usually get away with being smaller. Mainly because they aren't in the trenches and need the height to see over the line. They can survive on athleticism alone which is nice. I'm very impressed with this offer and commitment, to say the least.
February 1st, 2012 at 1:30 AM ^
size also doesnt matter when you run a 4.39
February 1st, 2012 at 2:15 AM ^
I'd be willing to wager that Norfleet will have more production at Michigan than Brionte Dunn will have playing for Urban Meyer
February 1st, 2012 at 7:48 AM ^
Can someone explain to me why Rivals lists Norfleet as #5 at his position but only the #236 player in the country, while Dunn is listed at #11 at his position but #138 in the country?
February 1st, 2012 at 7:58 AM ^
Neglected (/don't really understand) the difference between "running back" and "all purpose back."
February 1st, 2012 at 7:59 AM ^
Northfleet is catergorized as an all purpose back instead of a traditional running back like Dunn. Rivals keeps rankings for both positions.
February 1st, 2012 at 1:08 AM ^
He doesn't seem bad. I just want some more size outside, but it is always good to get more speed on the team and this is a solid last minute add on.
February 1st, 2012 at 2:02 AM ^
I don't think he will be playing WR for us. If he does, I'm guessing it will be in the slot or he will motion to the slot.
February 1st, 2012 at 1:08 AM ^
Well, he's not the BIG surprise I was expecting, but he's a surprise nonetheless.
February 1st, 2012 at 1:09 AM ^
I hope so ... also welcome home Dennis!

This was it

I'd like to start by saying I don't have scout insider so Sam Webb could have said on there that this is the surprise he was talking about.
That being said, it is not possible to infer that from this tweet. All it says is that Norfleet was "a" signing day surprise. "A" being used here has no meaning toward any other commitments. If it was "the" signing day surprise, then you would be right. Linguistically it doesn't work.

slot wr/return specialist.
February 1st, 2012 at 1:47 AM ^
He comes in with a full back, you stack the run. He motions out...you're screwed. He is going to stir the pot.
February 1st, 2012 at 1:14 AM ^
As I said on the other post. He is Vincint Smith 2.0 or Darren Sproles 1.2.5. Funny how I got no credit for this. No need. I am not a glory hound. Good pick up.
February 1st, 2012 at 6:22 AM ^
Gotta love Vincent Smith. But we need Norfleet to be superior to Smith. Smith is a back-up.
February 1st, 2012 at 6:41 AM ^
Third down back is like a quasi starter. I wish Vincent hadn't had his ACL tear his freshman year -- he just hasn't seen quite the same.
I've been really excited about Norfleet and just glad that the staff isn't tied to an ideal instead of grabbing and working with great talent
February 1st, 2012 at 8:27 AM ^
^^^This. It shows that the coaches are not trapped in the dogma of "Manball". We all thought at first that Vince Smith would be relegated to the bench in the Hoke program, now they are recruiting another player like him. That's enlightening.
Despite the "Manball" comments when Hoke came in, I think at this point we have enough real evidence to show that Borges is not DeBord. Our offense is and will continue to be quite diverse.
February 1st, 2012 at 1:04 PM ^
The only "Manball" thing Hoke ever said was that it could be tough to have a great defense if your offense runs zone blocking all the time. That really wasn't a controversial thing to say - even RR occasionally uses man blocking. It shouldn't have led to the internet uproar it did.
February 1st, 2012 at 7:55 AM ^
Not every back can be an every-down guy like Mike Hart. Vincent Smith is a tough, 100% effort, totally BLUE, tremendous Michigan man and very good football player. He is going to have a nice senior year, and I'm DAMNED glad he's blue.
This thread is borderline harsh on Smith, and I hope he's not reading it. He's done everything asked of him. If Norfleet is AS GOOD AS Smith, I'll be very happy that he's blue.
What's up man...
February 1st, 2012 at 8:20 AM ^
I plus'd you to get you to the full 5. You now have Glory.
February 1st, 2012 at 1:10 AM ^
it's one of the best days of this kid's life. he's a good player, let's all be happy for him and us and not feel sorry for ourselves over nothing.

beacuse there were other targets higher on the list with limited scholarships. Once some of those other kids went elsewhere, the opportunity opened up for Norfleet.
February 1st, 2012 at 1:10 AM ^
I was wondering why we were not recruiting him. This was a shocker. I don't think a single person thought to mention him.
February 1st, 2012 at 1:45 AM ^
And now to watch this dudes highlight videos...!
February 1st, 2012 at 1:11 AM ^
I'm not sure what else this is beyond that. Maybe Slot wr with occasional Jet Sweep?
February 1st, 2012 at 1:12 AM ^
Think more athletic, stronger Vincent Smith
