Haskins playing in MNF

Bills are killing the Titans and TN  just pulled their starting QB and Derrick Henry.  Hassan Haskins should be playing the entire 4th quarter.

before that he was the starting kick returner, which is weird.

Goes both ways, pal. Tom Brady's career in New England is riddled with years full of mediocre receiving corps. He had one year with Randy Moss, and quite a few years with a banged up Rob Gronkowski. And yet he still managed to go deep into the playoffs and win Super Bowls with them. It wasn't until he got to Tampa that he was routinely surrounded with great receiving talent.

WRs can definitely make QBs better, but we'd be fools to think it doesn't go the other way, too. Its extremely doubtful that Julian Edelman or Danny Amendola would still have had the careers they've had, or the recognition they currently enjoy, if they didn't play with Tom Brady.

I was definitely in the crowd that was really skeptical when the Bills drafted him. All he seemed to have going for him was his physical stature and that he had the proverbial "cannon for an arm." Beyond that, if memory serves he had really questionable accuracy coming out of college, not much above 50%, and he was coming from Wyoming, where he routinely played a bunch of nobodies. That's not a death sentence, plenty of guys come from smaller schools, but usually when you're drafting a QB with a top pick, you'd ideally want to see him excelling against the likes of Alabama and OSU, and not just Kent State and Colorado State.

He's definitely panned out, and he is a fantastic player, but I don't think people were wrong to question the decision at the time, given the information they had. How many guys come into the league with the same things going for them (physical stature and big arm) and flame out within a few years because they can't adjust to the rest of the pro game? The NFL ain't the college game where you can just use your physical attributes to out-talent everyone around you.

I'd take better accuracy in my QB prospect if it meant sacrificing a little bit of arm strength or height/weight. All the arm strength in the world doesn't mean anything if you're constantly overthrowing your guys or just can't hit them at all. So I probably wouldn't have taken Allen, with the info I had at the time. At least not with a top-10 pick.

The Bills are really fortunate that it worked out for them. It just as easily, if not more easily, could've backfired on them.

I think it's fair to say the information the Bills had was light years more expansive than the information "people" had. We don't know what their scouting and coaching group knew about him at the time . . and we never will. Maybe it was luck. Maybe it was the Bills process.

And frankly I'm leaning towards process because the Bills are the best team in the NFL by a country mile and might be the best team since the 2007 Patriots. There is an outside chance they go 20-0.

Henry looks bad this year. Maybe just bad matchups, worse o-line, or what have you -- but also might not be the same after his injury. Just showing zero burst.

As a titans fan, he’s about done IMO.

He has so many carries the last 4 seasons and has taken a total beating every game.

Then he got injured last year and came back too soon in the playoffs.

Then came into this season to be rumored around 270 pounds and has no burst.

Then the Titans OL has been regressing very fast. Lewan can’t stay healthy, and the long term RT and RG are both gone and replaced by rookies and young guys.

Then the Titans WR corp has been obliterated the past 2 off seasons and they have no real threats out there anymore for the D to stay honest.

Its a perfect storm to make for a shit running game. This is probably the last season of Henry, Lewan, Tannehill, and a few other guys. The titans will start tearing down soon for a hardcore rebuild. The window shut after 2020 and nobody noticed but a few of us fans it feels.

And the culprit is just awful drafting/player retention. Since 2017, almost every pick in the first 3 rounds is gone. Simmons is the only guy playing remotely well from those drafts basically. And the 2020 draft in particular is shaping up to be one of the worst draft classes of any team in recent memory.

Combine that shit drafting with a love of letting productive first round picks walk/trade for Pennie’s on the dollar (Corey Davis, AJ Brown, Adoree Jackson,  Jack Conklin etc), and you’ve destroyed your future as a team.

Hopefully the owner jettisons the GM and meathead Vrabel. Vrabel in particular is an awful coach who does not adapt his system one bit for personnel.

Those watching this game also probably saw the last of Taylor Lewan as a pro athlete. He’s probably done for the year and with all the injuries he’s had, he’s probably just about done in general.
