That is a dumb take. The punishment would be levied on Harbaugh, not the program. I think it's not unlikely Harbaugh goes to the NFL after this year, and if that happens with an NCAA show cause who cares? He's just pulling a Pete Carroll at that point.

If Harbaugh is punished "next year" and he's in the NFL, the consequences faced by Michigan will be trivial or non-existent.

That has been my take since our bowl loss.  I believe with a successful year Harbaugh rides off.  We lose Corum, JJ, Edward's, etc.   It because a rebuilding effort and Moore or someone will step up to be HC.

My belief in this really started when Harbaugh made that comment about how many head coaches are on his staff this year.  Tells me he's looking at both succession plans and the likelihood that several assistants may be leaving.

Harbaugh does not want to serve a suspension. This isn’t surprising. He told them in January he wouldn’t serve one. Either they come up with a solution he’s OK with during the season or he will be headed to the NFL. Don’t be surprised if he leaves after this season, if this isn’t resolved.

I don’t see him leaving with questions about  his integrity hanging over him.

EDIT: Just to be clear I have no concerns over his integrity. What I am saying is that if he leaves with this unresolved it looks as if he is fleeing NCAA sanctions. Harbaugh rightly won’t tolerate that. I believe he stays and fights this bullshit as he should.

People severely misrepresent the Tennessee thing. The coach got fired for cause for that and gets no severance and has a show cause that will prevent him from being hired again. The Tennessee AG threatened that the ncaa couldn’t do anything to punish current players who had nothing to do with the issue. The comparison is between harbaugh and Pruitt and then it’s in fact clear the punishment for Pruitt is worse.

It doesn’t make the stuff around harbaugh any less dumb but I don’t know why people keep bringing up Tennessee like it proves anything

For the record, the NCAA said the issue isn't "cheeseburgers" and relates to a series of improper contact with recruits by M coaches, including Harbaugh, during the COVID dead period. Maybe that's true; maybe it's not. But fans have just gone with the "he just bought cheeseburgers" defense when it's not clear that that's really what this is about. We won't know till it all sorts out.

Could be why Elias Rudolph is trending to flip to Miami as well as the twins to Kentucky.

Harbaugh needs to look at all the possible costly after effects of his attitude and position.

He doesn’t have his value to Michigan overrated but his value to the NCAA is in the gutter.

Harbaugh is becoming a drama dog - he needs to wise up or ship out because this is not a good situation for Michigan football or recruiting.

Yes Jim - your shit stinks too.

This is an extremely dumb take on this situation. No one has any details regarding this matter other than the NCAA coming out with some minor details on Harbaugh doing something over Covid. Since then Harbaugh has completely turned our program around and brought in a fantastic coaching staff that has consistently coached up our players to play most of the times above their recruiting rankings. If a recruit has decided not to come to Michigan in the last month or so since this story has come out, it has very little to do with this situation. Also, screw the NCAA!

Texas spends $280K for Arch Manning’s official visit and there’s no issue.

Harbaugh buys a couple of signed players a Brown Jug cheeseburger when CV was raging and university access was restricted - and they’re talking suspension.

Yeah, the NCAA is objective…,no question about it…
