They should name that message board the "Blue Oak Message Board." First, they can call it the "bomb." And also because it's the polar opposite of the RCMB, or Red Cedar Message Board if you will.

(I, admittedly, know nothing about trees. So if oak and cedar are not actually opposites, I don't care. It spells out bomb.)

I grew up with a firefighter dad and a Survival Flight dispatcher stepmother. U of M IS used around these parts to differentiate between UMHS, Trinty Health/St. Joe's/ the VA, since we haveb3 great hospitals/health systems all within 20 minutes of eachother, depending on the traffic on  Geddes.

Well first you start drinking. Then you realize you left a pot of stew simmering on the propane stove, so you drive the snowmobile drunk back home to turn it off. But you get pulled over on the way, and can’t recite the Canadian alphabet backwards so you wind up in the pokey. Then you hear the sirens and just know your cabin is on fire, which means they’re going to discover the meth lab in the garage. Next thing you know, your cellmate benches 405 and shows you the lace nightie he has stashed. That’s how you wind up a prison bitch.

I try not to take my Michigan-ness for granted, I guess I did experience the Coach Rod/Coach Hoke years that were a struggle, but to support a team whose baseline is disappointment, I don't even want to imagine. Oh wait, I did that with the Lions. NOT THIS YEAR! *happy smiley emogi*

It reflects partially the expectations of fan bases that they are optimistic even in the face of overwhelming evidence.

A perusal of the Nebraska and Minnesota channels on Youtube post Michigan defeats found a feeling of shock and surprise. No, they all weren't surprised that their teams lost, but somehow believed that their home team was in the same competitive zip code as Michigan: that they were able to play a game within a 7-14 points - not the thorough demolition that they witnessed.

I lived there for 4 years while my wife was in school. I was an outsider to the end.

Also, Vikings fans are some of the worst in football. While they've been to the Super Bowl 4 times but have never won it, they act as if they've won every other title and the trophy is now named the Bud Grant Trophy. They're some of the worst bridesmaids ever.

This is a very level headed football board. My baseline for opposing fanbases is based on the few times I looked 11 warriors or that toilet rcmb but maybe those should be at the absolute lowest point of expectations.

Eh well what else are you going to say after losing 52-10? It's not exactly the kind of result where you could go "I think we almost had em, if not for those damn refs." They're disillusioned and their ire is more focused on their own coaches than on the opponents at this point.

I don't think it's overall an especially level-headed forum (not that team forums ever are). There's definitely no shortage of guys there who think Minnesota should be winning 10+ games year-in year-out.
