I'm starting to understand what these kids mean when they say academics is important to them. They want to be near the top of their class. Going to a school like osu makes it a lot easier for them to achieve that dream.

Bashing OSU and their academics is extremely comical. They're actually a good academic school. Stanford dominates over UofM and a Michigan undergrad education is nothing special unless you consider engineering and Ross. Time to get off the high horse before Stanford knocks you off it.

I think middle-aged men who haven't been in school for 15-20 years and still find it entertaining to rip on a school is a complete joke. It's understandable from a younger crowd but we all know that this board is dominated by 35-50 year old white males.

Did I miss something? What the fuck is the relationship between Stanford and Ohio State? Are you saying because Michigan isn't a better academic institution than Stanford that we can't make fun of OSU for being a bunch of Dumbasses? That logic has all sorts of fail. I also find it comical that you think an undergrad degree from one of the top public universities in the nation is "nothing special." That is usually what someone who didn't go there would say.

I think out of state tuition might have had something to do with this. OSU is less than half the cost to attend than Michigan. OOS tuition at M is almost 40 grand a year now.

I have been involved in hiring at my firm.  even the ohio state people on our hiring committee--young and old--accept the fact that Michigan is a superior school.  among non-osu people, it isn't even a question.  osu is better than it used to be, but nowhere near Michigan, Northwestern, or Notre Dame in the midwest.

Glasgow is a huge stiff.  Honestly, I really doubt he's going to turn into much of a football player at the next level.  He's not athletic at all.  I don't know why anybody would be particularly upset that a walk-on chose another school.  He's a walk-on!  If it ever gets to the point where walk-ons are contributing heavily, that's typically bad news.

From what i have read the reason this kid was not heavily recruited is because he is too much of an unknown, having played only one year of football.  After this kid gets some work and a college strength and conditioning program he may develop or may not - as of now he is quite raw but has a ton of room to improve and learn.  His coach (a former Michigan player who contacted Ohio State) seems to think that he has the upside be a possible starter one day.  Im not sure how likely this is with the top linemen they are going after/havecoming in 2012, but hes in the door and he has a chance.  To say this kid is comparable to a 2* recruit is completely foolish, a walk-on is a walk-on and are seen mainly as a project for one reason or another.  Look at guys like green bay linebacker clay matthews who were walk-ons and are now pro-bowlers in the NFL.
