Freshman jersey numbers: Malzone #12, Cole #81; O'Korn #5

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

The early enrollee numbers. Harbaugh doubled up on numbers at Stanford, so I expect to see that here. The previous staff did not care for that IIRC.

Malzone will wear #12. The number he wore in HS. Allen Gant also wears #12.

Very excited to be wearing #12! Go Blue pic.twitter.com/YlSCH4Hs4Q

From what I gather, a few members have a long-standing grudge against WD for ... well, something in the past. Maybe it's a valid reason, or maybe it's crap - I have no idea. One thing that seems to annoy them is that he's a H.S. kid who posts lots of things, but hasn't even gone to UM yet.

At this point, it seems like they're just reacting. WD could post a picture of Kate Upton wearing nothing but those M receivers' gloves, and they'd neg him for it.

Plus, Brian would have a lot of explaining to do to those people at Google.

Until I realized that the two Michigan receivers I associated with #81 wore it in the NFL: Amani Toomer for the Giants, and Jason Avant managed to get the #81 in all three of his NFL teams: the Eagles, then the Panthers and now the Chiefs.  (Avant wore #8 at Michigan and Toomer #18.)

It's weird to me that the pro sports leagues are actually more discreet about brand logo placement than the NCAA is.  Nike, Adidas and the rest can't put their logo on the front of an pro sports jersey but can for a college one.  That seems backwards.

Too lazy to blockquote, so here's the lead sentence:

"Advertisements on NBA uniforms are inevitable—the association logo is heading to the back of the uniform to make room, and the only reason a 2.5" x 2.5" ad patch wasn't on the front shoulder last year was because they couldn't agree on how to split up the money. "

Ugh, I hate ads on uniforms.  That's something I really dislike about pro soccer uniforms.  I could never see myself buying one for that reason - it just seems tacky having a huge Chevrolet or Fly Emirates or whatever else right across the front.  Soccer at least has an excuse - they don't have TV timeouts during a half.  The North American leagues have enough ads during all the commercial breaks already.

They make millions in profits(especially from TV contracts), it's really not necessary to do it. In Europe, there's no salary cap or revenue sharing so I can see the reason why it's done over there. North America is truly the only place where teams from Green Bay or Oklahoma City can compete with big market teams from NY or LA.

Word on the street from an anonymous internet poster who knows somebody who knows somebody is that Under Armor will be making a run at the M contract, but expects Adidas to ultimately offer more money. This anonymous internet poster made it very clear to the Under Armor person of interest that he viewed Under Armor as superior and thought the collective fanbase did as well.

didn't like doubling up on numbers and Harbaugh does. We've always had plenty. There's not really any choice given the size of the rosters and, until just recently, the numerous retired numbers. I doubt any coach actually likes duplicate numbers, given the potential issues on special teams. Maybe Lane Kiffen is the exception.

I remember when Hoke came in, guys who were doubled up eventually were re-slotted.

  • #88 Brandon Moore was moved to #89 (Roh had #88)
  • #22 Terrance Talbott moved to #37 (Stonum had #22)
  • #37 Jake Ryan moved to #90 (Terrence Talbott moved to #37)

Those are the ones I can remember off of the top of my head.

Time to bookmark the roster again...

Oh, don't have it up yet.  Says to be announced

Edit: Is Jeremy Clark looking a bit jacked?  I'm saying he's looking a bit jacked up.  Long way away, but yes nonetheless.

I hate when guys have tshirts hanging out from under their jerseys. There were times during games the last couple seasons where I would see that and the guys just looked like scrubs.
