Better than no shot at all. Hoping he plays to knock off some of the rust and provide some depth at least initially. Also would rather he be fully healthy before starting as I’d rather the injury not longer. So basically let him, the medical staff, and coaches come together to make the right decision.

Great news. I think we can win today with or without Franz but winning tomorrow/Friday and against Louisville probably requires him to be back and healthy. Getting him in even just a little today to knock off some of the rust would be awesome.

Oh boy! It would be awesome to see him play today, but not at the expense of further injuring himself. However, this would be a good opportunity to weave him into the game without possibly needing him to play starter minutes.

I am guessing this is Nunez' last shot at staying a meaningful player in the larger rotation. I appreciate Howards attempt here-of making Nunez into a serious sniper.

ISU looks like a typical Big 12 team-very athletic. Michigan has not yet played a team of athletes like this one. This is where Beilein excelled-slowing the game down and making it a grind...and driving the opponent crazy. We'll see how Howard takes this on.

I disagree. Franz coming back definitely puts a major dent in Nunez's minutes but if he ends up shooting as well as we think he can, there's 5-10 minutes a game for a JAS. More if he gets hot in a game. And if he starts coming off the bench it's easier to put him on the court in a favorable matchup to hide his defense.

I broke my wrist a few years back.   I was in a cast for about 6 weeks.    It was early spring, so baseball (softball) spring training time.   After the cast was removed, my wrist was incredibly weak.  But I excitedly grabbed my baseball glove, went to the first practice, and immediately regretted my decision.  I could not catch the ball.  My wrist was so weak - it hurt like hell to absorb a damn soft toss throw into my glove.    What does this have to do with Franz Wagner?   I'm amazed that he's a game-time decision today.   I don't know how he's managed to maintain or redevelop his wrist strength after having it immobilized for awhile, especially since it's his dominant shooting hand.    The simple answer is probably that he's a young elite athlete with access to a top-notch physical therapy and S & C staff.

This is excellent news but I would rather he plays against a lesser opponent before playing in a game like this. Put him in for a few and see how he responds. Unless Howard wanted to unleash him today because he is ready to go and just wanted to fool the cyclones.
