Makes me wonder if we'll ever see the swoosh again on the basketball or football jerseys. Our contract states that where Jordan brand gear is provided it will be INSTEAD OF (not in addition to) Nike brand gear.

They'll still be playing football.

Having Jumpman won't make us a basketball school any more than having Adidas made us a soccer school or having Nike made us a running school. Jumpman started in basketball, but it is no longer only that.

My guess is that Estée Portnoy had a hand in putting MJ together with Harbaugh. She handles all of Jordan's licensing contracts and was Michigan class of '89. She worked in the Athletic Department doing PR while she was a student.

Exactly this. Mj is a symbol of absolute excellence in sports and it still - many years after retirement - one of the most immensely popular athletes, even among teens. This can only help us in recruiting. Also, I think having the jumpman on our jerseys (and apparel) is pretty bad ass.
