Wishing him a speedy recovery. The injury looked pretty horrible.

Hope to see you on the field next September.

Godspeed, Fitz. Please touch that banner again soon.
November 19th, 2012 at 2:00 PM ^
And a sunny looking 2013 season with Gardner/Fitz combination!
November 19th, 2012 at 3:09 PM ^
I am all for being optimistic, but the entire offense depends on the OL play next year. If Lewan leaves like I expect him to, 4 new guys on the OL could lead to serious growing pains, regardless of Fitz being healthy. Here's to hoping Magnuson and Kalis are all they are hyped up to be! If we get steady play from them, and some solid contributions from Darboh and other WR's, the offense could be good, but that side of the ball could be shaky next season.

Glad to hear that he'll be out of the hospital and on the road to recovery.
Get well soon, Fitz. Hopefully, it is a full and speedy healing and you're back out there as soon as you're able.

Interesting, still won't disclose the exact surgery/injury. Here's to a speedy recovery!
November 19th, 2012 at 2:19 PM ^
secretive when it comes to disclosing injury information.
This has been his MO since being asked about Denard and describing his injury as a "boo boo." I don't expect the coach to ever be open with this information nor does he have to be.
November 19th, 2012 at 2:51 PM ^
Well, didn't he just today say Denard is very close to 100% and that he could play today if he had to?
November 19th, 2012 at 3:24 PM ^
I'm not a doctor, but I think the exact injury is "he broke it." Either leg or ankle, he broke it. I know enough anatomy to know there is no joint where his leg was bent. Therefore, I'm going to say with a certain amount of confidence that he broke it.
November 19th, 2012 at 3:53 PM ^
Yes, but what is "it" that he broke? Which part of the leg? what did they do to repair? If it was the ankle area we're talking about ripped tendons that need to be reattached to the bone of the foot.
November 19th, 2012 at 5:42 PM ^
There's only two bones it could possibly be, and it looked like he broke both of them. The only question is whether there was also damage to any ligaments, which would complicate things.
November 19th, 2012 at 9:17 PM ^
I would add that in addition to possible ligament damage, it would be important to know if it was:
a) JUST a tibia fracture
b) tibia-fibula fracture (tib-fib)
c) Pilon fracture where the tibia is fractured extending into the ankle joint
This would change the surgery done. There was also a reason that they did the surgery as an emergency (either it was open or the bloodflow to the foot was affected). If the fracture extended into the joint this would neccessitate more complex surgery (the other fractures can be fixed with rods [higher in leg] or plate and screws [this would likely be done for a lower fracture]).
None of these would be easy to recover from and we will find out more eventually (like in fall camp if he is practicing). Don't expect to see him in the spring though
As a fan I wish and hope for a full recovery. Good luck Fitz!

What is Fitz's least favorite year ever?
Here is to a speedy recovery and a healthy and prosperous 2013 Fitz!!
November 19th, 2012 at 2:21 PM ^
There's also the idea of patient confidentialiy. I recognize that as an athlete, his health is important for fans but he has a right to privacy regarding his health like all of us do. I respect that Hoke keeps it secret even if it's for other reasons.
November 19th, 2012 at 5:35 PM ^
confidentialiy, I think.
In fact, I'd go a step farther, and state that I also support Hoke's full disclosure policy.
Best wishes for a full and expeditious recovery.

100% and ready to go...best of luck in your recovery!
My hear goes out to you and your family. (A lot of people don't realize Fitz is trying to support a family and was seriously considering the NFL this year to do so --- even without the stellar year).
