FIRE BRIAN KELLY

0-11 against top 5 teams. Clearly cant win big games. Ideas for coaches to replace him?

Strangely this take isnt all over every or really any ND blogs.

and when Michigan gets there and is hammered people will still cry on the blog that:

1) we need a new coach who can beat Bama and Clemson now.

2) our defense is slow, our offensive play calling is terrible.

3) Harbaugh just doesn’t have the clipboard throwing  emotion to win the biggest of the big games.

4) hire Urban Meyer.

5) Did you see how Poignant Mountain State put up 65 on East Georgia State in the Nobody Gives A Shit Bowl on Deeeecember 15? We need their OC as our HC if Meyer won’t come.

Honestly, the same set of baggers who wanted Meyer gone from OSU for his scandal are so ready to sell their souls. And never look around for any sense of the landscape.

Fucking hamster wheel of fandom.

Oh man they beat Stanford? And the juggernaut that is MSU football? And USC in their worst years of my lifetime? Super impressive. USC is having a decent year surprisingly, which even then includes a loss at home to BYU.

I'm not defending Harbaugh, but pointing out Leach, the 2 Kellys, and Locksley, as what we wish we were right now is dumb as hell. This is why I can't call for Harbaugh's head. Until this weekend, he's been one of the best in college football behind Urban, Saban, and Dabo. Hopefully things get righted. Because I'd rather have Harbaugh next year than Leach. Campbell might be a good coach but I don't really have any reason to think he'd do a better job than Harbaugh.

I get it’s the flavor of the month to want Harbaugh fired, but the fire Harbaugh crowd is just as annoying as the Harbaugh can’t do anything wrong crowd. There are fewer than 10 coaches in the nation with more wins than Harbaugh since he’s been here, and one of them is now a commentator, so unless we are going to get one of them, I’m not sure why it’s even being thrown around.

Today was the first time since he’s been hired that I am actually wondering about the trajectory of the team, but calling people who still support Harbaugh as lacking knowledge is very RCMBish

So let me just throw this out there. In the last 12 years we have had 4 head coaches and numerous OC's and offensive philosophies. Maybe, just maybe part of the problem is that the powers that be in AA are listening to the most fickel of fan bases and making or forcing these continuous changes. IMO, what UM needs to do is stick with Harbaugh, let him figure out what this teams identity needs to be and let him shape it thusly and keep at it for a few years. This team is screaming for the need of continuity but instead we change HC's every 4-6 years and OC's every 1-2 years. How are we expecting these young kids to grow if they're having to learn a new playbook every off season?

On defense its no surprise we are where we are since we lost so many guys to the draft. For some reason Michigan still does not have its recruiting cycle down like the big guys (Bama, Clemson, LSU, OSU, etc) so that you're not losing so many stars at once or having studs ready to go behind them. Either we as fans need to be patient and let this thing work its way out or just be ready to settle for mediocrity that comes with constant changing of coaches. As I recall, at Clemson they were still wanting Dabo's head up until the year they first made the NC. Now he's considered Saban's equal. Patience is the key.

Just want to make sure I understand. When you guys land players like DPJ and Daxton Hill, it’s done completely on the up and up, but when schools like OSU land studs, they pay for them? Is it possible that schools like Bama and OSU have just been far superior, and they don’t really have to cheat to land great players? Is it possible that some kids actually want to go somewhere that perennially is in the championship conversation, and are developed and prepared for the NFL(not saying they aren’t at UM FYI)? I know it’s so much easier to believe that everyone but you cheats, but it’s delusional thinking. You just got smoked by a school that typically isn’t in the top 25 in recruiting rankings, which came after barely escaping Army, who probably isnt in the top 100 in recruiting rankings. Maybe, just maybe there’s more to it than other teams cheat and you don’t? Don’t mean to troll your board, but this narrative rubs me wrong.  You guys need to find an identity and commit to it, like Wisconsin has, not search for mythical answers, like we have to start cheating to compete. You have plenty of talent to compete

Michigan does have more talent than Wisconsin.  Apparently, it wasn't well applied.  On the other hand, as much as I love Black, DPJ, and Collins (and man oh man I do appreciate their talent.  I crack a smile everytime the ball goes up in their direction) as well as Oliver, I do wish one or even two of them were an offensive lineman last year or a running back or defensive lineman this year.

I was with you all the way until Saturday happened.  And then Saturday happened.  This is year 5 for JH - every single player on this team arrived with, or after, Harbaugh arrived.  This is his team - lock, stock, and barrel.  It's his entire coaching staff.  It's his trainers and weight room.  Every ounce of Michigan football, right now, in year 5, is owned by Jim Harbaugh.

And still, Saturday happened.

The program is clearly in better hands - by a mile - than it's been in since 2007.  And yet, we get Saturday.  It's not just that they lost, it's HOW they lost.  Utterly incompetent in every aspect of the game.  No will, no determination, no effort, no coordination, no cohesiveness.  And this isn't a one off situation - things have been trending this way since late last year.  I've used a lot of excuses, since Indiana last year, to justify these performances.  After Saturday, there are no more excuses I can reasonably cling to.

I don't believe firing him would be rational (nor do I think the AD would ever actually do it) today, next week, or maybe even at the end of the year.  But I am starting to think we've seen the apex of where he can take Michigan, and having a replacement list is a good idea.  Its fair for him to feel heat - and he absolutely needs to.  The love affair needs to be over, the excuses need to be called what they are going forward.  He's got to start feeling this now, Saturday was that fucking bad.

My two cents: Harbaugh came here thinking this would be easier than the NFL gig. He knows college football, he knows Michigan, he surrounded himself with his guys. But as time went on, that hasn't been the case, especially on the offensive side. He appears to be losing his mojo because what should be happening, isn't. Don Brown's magic is wearing off. Josh Gattis probably needs more time to develop into an OC. And to make matters worse, he has his own weaknesses, like sticking with QB's who aren't getting the job done. Maybe this job has just required more than he expected and wants to give.

Give me a break, this fanbase has supported Harbaugh pretty much no matter what and given him all the time he needed. We're not fucking stupid, when we saw the team come out looking lost against MSU at home at night in 2017 is when people started to ask questions, then they choked the bowl game away, and more questions piled up. But I think people were willing to look the other way, then ND happened where they looked completely unprepared again and dug a hole too deep to overcome. 10 wins later we were all geeked for the "revenge tour", then OSU happens. Then Florida happened. Then yesterday happened. Maybe, just maybe, it's not us who is the problem.

The fans are not the issue, the leadership is. Fans can yell all they want it’s a leaders job to make the right decisions regardless what the popular opinion is. This includes the leader of the athletic department.

And let’s be honest BK is going to scheme Brown right up in a couple weeks while Jim is hitting grounders to Shea trying to “Get him right”

Just when I thought today’s takes couldn’t get worse.. Brian Kelly has led his team to a BCS Championship and playoff appearance. Rarely do you see them get embarrassed on a national stage
