The NCAA has always been stupid about parity. They just don’t understand how it makes for a better product that will attract more viewers. The NBA makes the same stupid mistake.

You think they would learn from the most successful sports—NCAA basketball and the NFL. When more teams have a shot to win it all, more fans are invested and there are more good games people watch just to see a good game.

The NBA is tricky because the players are paid so much and more and more of them are willing to take less to win a championship. Really the best thing the NBA can do is get rid of “superstar calls” and have the refs apply the same standards to all players.

With the NCAA, it starts with expanding the playoff. I would also not be opposed to granting losing teams more scholarships and decreasing playoff team scholarships. Basically, make scholarships variable so they have the same function as draft position.

Alabama had won 100-straight games against unranked teams. A&M got the ball down 7 with just 5 minutes left and: 1) Drove down the field and tied the game with a touchdown; 2) Forced a 3-and-out; and 3) Drove the field again to kick a game-winning field goal as time expired. They also had a kickoff return in the game and picked off Bryce Young when Alabama had the ball on the one yard line.

Regardless how ugly this game was Michigan is currently undefeated. That's something Alabama, Clemson, Ohio St, USC, Florida, Florida St, Oregon, etc can't say.

Road, night, conference wins are like gold. We’re not perfect but my guess is this year nobody is. Even Georgia was close to two loss Clemson.

Let’s just see where the chips fall at the end of this year.

Good riddance.  Actually kind of surprised as A&M has NOT looked good this season.

But Bama could lose two games and easily still make the playoffs.

If Notre Dame hadn’t pulled that game out of their ass, this would have been the perfect ending to the evening.

I don’t think so. Two loss teams in the playoffs are rare. If there would be a team it would be Bama but this is not a good loss despite being a road loss. My guess is they drop to 5. Were they to get a second loss in conference or drop the gimme game SEC teams schedule at end of season they would have to drop far enough to not make it in all likelihood.

This is clearly a crazy year. Bama can likely make the SEC championship game with two losses, and if they win that (against pending #1 Georgia), they're almost certainly in. A 2-loss team won the national title in 2007 from the SEC when there were only two slots available; already the ACC and Pac-12 look substandard. The SEC will likely get two teams, and Bama has the inside line to be one of them.

You have briefly explained the complete and utter failure of the current system and why a 12 or 16 team playoff is indicated. The concept that the 16 seed would never win and the elite teams would dominate has been wholly blown up this season.

The NCAA stands to make millions and millions and millions on it. I can't see why they don't proceed.

That Florida game was an indicator that AL may be shaky. They always had one shaky game every year. Two means something is brewing. Hope they lose one more, possibly in the championship game so they are out of playoff. Same goes for OSU. Sick of seeing those two there. Glad Clemson is out. Hoping for GA, B1G champion (hope not OSU), OK, UC

Unfortunately, Bama' will stay ahead of UM in the rankings.  Sports writers think too highly of Alabama to drop them more than a few spots.  UM will pass PSU, and be ranked #8 in the AP.

UM deserves to be ranked above Bama though.  Bama lost to an unranked team.  UM is undefeated.
