Devin Gardner on Connor Stalions

Submitted by UESWolverine on October 23rd, 2023 at 5:05 PM

Did anybody catch DG's comments on WTKA this morning?

“I remember Connor Stalions, he used to be just a fan. He would be at every away game. When we got off the bus, he would be there just cheering us on".

It starts around the 8 minute mark of Devin's first segment:

Sounds like Connor has been a superfan of the team for years.

I swear the funniest thing will be when it turns out that no one in the program ever read Super Special Agent Stalions Sekret Reports, but they were just humoring him because he had been in the military.

If it's just Stallion, then I can see someone buying 10 tickets a year over the last three years... Although this seems to have been way longer than three years.

But if he had purchased say 100 tickets over the last three years, then that's a vast network.

I'd like to see this footage of him videotaping, because if all he has is an iPhone, then everyone has that.

Regarding footage of him filming… He’s been on-field at games since he was hired as a staffer, right? That was the absurdly funny red circle image thing. So presumably, the allegation would be that he got the tickets for other 3rd parties to do the filming.

Which begs the question… In that case, would non-university affiliated people be bound to the in-person scouting rules? Do they become “university-affiliated” when they take the tickets, or does it only prohibit actual, employed staff members?Maybe if they were paid for the filming they would count? Or if there was concrete proof that these 3rd parties directly gave information acquired through these tickets to the athletic department?

I can deal with the slappies if the NCAA brings no punishment. It’s actually funnier that way.

if this ends up like the satellite camps where clearly we were doing something “wrong” but not against any clear rule it’s even funnier.

I would really enjoy pointing out that our staff is just way smarter than theirs. Even if they become the villains of college football.

Honestly the guy is a massive idiot if any of the information that just came out is true. Same goes for anyone involved with the football team that knew what was going on, if anyone.

Pretty unbelievable how all this happened, to be honest. So fucking disappointing.

I have a hard time believing anyone at or near Harbaughs level okayed this. Its such a stupid scheme that was doomed to be busted and for a relatively small schematic advantage. Would be colossally stupid if the program collectively decided to run this scheme and did it so badly. Reportedly paying students at other schools to video it. Sounds more like a “go getter” than a program blessed by Jim himself

If the team let him stand next to the defensive coordinator during games, he was doing something that must have been at least potentially useful. He wasn't just a fan. His job was to steal signals, and he did some advance work, like any good Marine. I imagine he did in-game recon as well. And btw he didn't break any rules.

But this would mean there are at least two people involved.  Who is the other person?  Someone who advanced scout and this Stalion guy feeding Minter the information...

There are only 3 or maybe 4 teams that this whole sign stealing really would make an impact: OSU, PSU, MSU, and some other team.  Why scout the several garbage teams on our schedule like bgsu or ECU or CSU or UConn ...
