Regardless. He is a Michigan man, and even with a coaching switch, should it happen, any coach with a brain wants the ball in this dude's hands every snap.

As he progresses I would like to see Denard become more pass-first. He's got a good arm and as he settles down a bit his accuracy is going to get better. Vince Young was a very shoddy passer and in his last two years rarely had run-only plays and he fucking terrified me in the Rose Bowl and Texas (the next year) every time the ball was snapped. When your last resort as an offense is a dilithium 4.3 lunatic taking off with the ball in his hands and the opposing defense scattered all over the field, the other team has nothing. NOTHING!

"That's some catch, that Catch-22," he observed.

"It's the best there is," Doc Daneeka agreed.

This also comes to my point for keeping RR. We will have a better offense next year than we do this year if we keep him. I doubt that we would be a top 5 offense next year in a different system. Thats just my opinion though.

Denard dislocated fingers in his hand against OSU. That is not RR's fault. I know RR wanted to win that game, its not like he blew it. Face it, OSU is just significantly better than us at this point in time.

We've got to cut down on Denard's carries.  He averaged over 20 carries a game and that was including the BGSU game (when he had five).  He took a pounding, and as great a runner as he was this year, he still threw for 700 more yards than he ran, and his YPA was terrific.  Next year, regardless of whom the coach is, I'd like to see him more around 10-15 carries a game.  That's enough to keep the defense honest while hopefully allowing him to finish games.  (This year, all of his injuries occurred in the second half of games, except for the BGSU game.) I think he's capable of being a 1,000/3,000 guy.

I'm 100% with you. I think the thing we were missing this year was a dynamic and game breaking running back (huge missing piece if you ask me). Look at the best spread running offenses that you can remember (i.e. Oregon with Stewart, West Virginia with Slaton, Oregon with James, etc). What they had in common beyond a solid QB is a dynamic runner that forced defenses to truly respect the zone read handoff/keeper.

We didn't have that, so Denard had to run more, but I agree that Denard needs to have less carries a game. He would (hopefully) be less prone to injury and the offense would open up more.

Mallet could have fit into RR's offense.  In fact, RR has run pass first spread option attacks in the past, and Mallet is at his best throwing out of the shotgun formation and also on the move.  RR would not have run read-option with Mallet's obvious other talents.  Michigan is just not where he wanted to be.

Hopefully, Denard's heart is at Michigan no matter what the situation.  Florida and Miami will be prowling if RR is gone.

Maybe he has made friends and likes it here. Maybe Harbaugh shows him that he was a great dual threat qb here at  Michigan. Maybe Denard feels that a new coaching staff would give him a better chance to win before he graduates. Coaching changes are made all the time and most kids dont transfer. You probably feel like kids are likely to leave because since RR has been the coach..someone farts in the wrong direction and a kid transfers..that is not the norm, that is just what has been happening under RR.

for all Big Ten at QB position.  D-Rob should get 1st team IMO.  The 2nd team is up for grabs between Stanzi, Tolizen, Cousins, Persa and Pryor.

EDIT: Whoops, didn't see the All-Big Ten selection.  Denard not on 1st or 2nd team is an outrage IMO.

But how realistic is it whether the coach is RR or JH?  DR has loads of talent, but can't seem to stay in the game for four quarters and makes terrible decisions on his passing.  Does one year of maturation and conditioning cure all of that?  I would love to see it but am not so sure.

A great person to point out here is Cousins, or Stanzi.. They improved in their decisions dramatically.  Both had a few bad games here and there, but the overall numbers are much improved..  Denards Ceiling is much higher than both of those kids

be it conference or national titles.  While I too believe Denard is as talented as anyone int he country and a damn good QB and will only get better.  I just can't see where RR has the fundamental understanding of what type of defense you have to have in the B10 (mind you the last 2 season are the 2 worse defensive seasons in Michigan history).  I would guess with our schedule next year we're looking at 9 - 3 perhaps 10 - 2 , but not better than 6 - 2 in the B10 which won't get us anywhere in terms of a championship ... which may leave Denard out of the running.

Tim Tebow's Florida gators record was something like 8-4. He did have a great year and there were no other quality candidates (McFadden, McCoy, Pat White). I think if Michigan wins 9 games next year with some quality victories (OSU, MSU, Nebraska) he could win the heisman.

OK, Urban Meyer ran a traditional offense at Utah but comes to Florida and realizing what he has in Tebow implements a spread variation to maximize Tebow's talents and wins big time while Tebow cops a Heisman.  Jim Harbaugh are you listening?  The precedent has already been set and the path made plain.

Now, Fellow Brethren of the Wolverine Order I will be just as happy with RR coming back to a more experienced team next season full of Sophs and Juniors, but if DB decides to make a change and bring in JH then hopefully JH will pull a Florida Twitch in the Big Ten.

Hate to burst your bubble, but Urban was running a spread option attack at Bowling Green and Utah, long before he got to Florida- check out old highlights of Alex Smith at Utah. He ran for double-digit TD's and threw for like 30 in his junior year, I believe. Josh Harris at BG may have been the QB Meyer had while there, and if I recall, he was also a solid dual-threat guy.
