Dear Warde Manuel

The Bobs: What would you say ya *do* here, exactly?

Warde: I told you. I’m the AD. I’m in charge of hiring and firing the head coaches here.

The Bobs: so you actually make the decision to fire coaches?

Warde: well … no. My Univ Pres actually decides that.

The Bobs: uh huh. Uh huh. Well thanks for coming in

*Warde exits*

The Bobs: we can get rid of that guy easily.

We find it's always better to fire people on a Friday. Studies have statistically shown that there's less chance of an incident if you do it at the end of the week.

The Friday news dump used to mean late afternoon on Friday, back when news was in papers and on TV, because fewer people paid attention late Friday or over the weekend.

With news now 24 hour streaming, available on our phones, the late Friday afternoon dump is less effective, though still used.

But an announcement and press release on Friday morning is not a news dump because it's not avoiding anything, especially when it's clear on Thursday that it's coming. It's still fully in normal news cycles.

Having worked in corporate America I've found that Thursdays are actually the day for layoffs and firings.   Lot of people take off for 3 day weekends on Fridays so you aren't guaranteed that they will be there.  It also gives HR a day to get paperwork done without being the next week.
