ENJOY A RELAXING DAY OF BASKETBALL!!!
Barkley suuuuucks. I actually half-like the guy in other realms but CBS is stupid for getting him for the tournament; he's turning into a Big Ten troll.
Exactly. I keep waiting for the others to tell him to stop and that he sounds like an idiot; you can tell they want to. I like how one of them (Kenny or Greg, I forget) said something of the like, "If the teams win tonight, you gotta do something for the Big Ten", as in *shut up* or if you keep being wrong, man up and admit it.
The officiating was bad on both sides. This game was basically a win/win. If OSU wins it's good for my bracket and the B1G, if they lose it's OSU losing. Clutch shot by Craft, making up for those missed 1 and 1's.
Tracy Wolfson to Craft postgame:
"Did you want the ball in your hands at the end of the game?"
Seriously? You have the entire fucking eon that is a CBS commercial break to come up with a great question, and that is what you come up with?
Just because the refs couldn't see that his heel was up doesn't mean that they should've called a block because they THOUGHT his foot was down.
They made a call and instant replay actually shows that it was the RIGHT call. They lucked out. But you can't hate for making the right call.
Just like if you jump and save the ball from out of bounds, it's not out of bounds if you cross the imaginary line...it's out when you touch something with possession of the ball.
Backcourt, same thing.
It wasn't the right call, though. He wasn't established when the guy went up. Refs spend so much time focusing on the feet in the circle, now, that they no longer get the timing of position right. It's awful.
Bilas tweets after the game... On the charge call, college basketball refs repeatedly call charges on clear blocks. It is an epidemic, and a failure. We can do better.
But that's not what Chuck was arguing...he was arguing that he was out of the restricted area. Which he was.
Oh, I didn't see Barkley argue that. He was definitely out of the circle. My problem is not so much that call in particular but, like Bilas, the general overcalling of charging in college bball.
Manifesto: Charges should be rare and obvious. 50/50 calls should go to the offensive player because drawing a charge isn't a basketball play. It rarely involves the defensive player contesting the ball. It cuts down on exciting, aggressive plays. It encourages flopping, and it endangers airborne players. DEATH TO THE CHARGE!!!
Thank goodness we have quality coaches and players and some momentum to battle back against these douchebags.
...if Bo Ryan and Wisconsin can beat that cocky ballhog from Ole Miss, they'd also have a legit shot at a sweet 16 with LaSalle's win over KSU and Wichita St.'s win over Gonzaga.
B1G could be undefeated right now and would have an SEC-Football-Like stranglehold on the post season.
Yesterday Kenny Smith kept saying "Mitch McQueary" and Greg Anthony kept saying "Mitch McGriery"
I don't know what Chuck was saying, because no one knows what he's ever saying.
To your point, I think it's a shame that they don't allow REAL COLLEGE BASKETBALL ANALYSTS do the broadcasting, commentating, and analysis.
That said, if it was ESPN we'd have to listen to Dackich and Dykes. Someone please put those two in a room with Doug "can't say one positive thing ever" Gottlieb, make sure there are no windows or exits...lock the door and throw away the key.
Oladapido...Yogi Pharell...yeah. Go home NBA on TNT guys. You're drunk.
Just saw this... after the VCU game, Michigan has made quite the ascent on Kenpom.
We are now #8 in front of #9 Kansas. Offense ranked #2, Defense ranked #42.
On Sagarin's predictor rating, we are #8 and Kansas is #5 but there is only 0.49 that separates us, leaving it essentially a push on a neutral court or them being a couple point favorites in Texas, if we are to play them.
No love for OSU or hate for Iowa State intended here, but I found the latter's band extremely annoying during OSU free throws during the game. Story:
http://www.usatoday.com/story/gameon/2013/03/24/iowa-state-ohio-state-2…
The restricted area line extends vertically so if any part of the defenders body 'break the plane' of that line he is considered to be in the restricted area.It looks like Crafts heel 'broke the plane' ,if so it's a foul on Craft.Tough call for ref to make but he got it wrong. I notice on my twitter feed the only person who says it was definitely a charge is Dakich the Douche
If it extends vertically, then the call's totally absurd. Sliding across the lane the way he did, there's no way that his body was out of the restricted area when the Iowa State guy left his feet.
Theory: College refs love calling charging because it represents basketball's ultimate "look at me" refereeing moment.
There's now a #EverythingsACharge hashtag on twitter.
Death to the Charge!

With the Iowa State loss, there are now four seeds for which all four teams are now gone - #5, #10, #14 and #16.
Also, we've been through about ten minutes of Indiana-Temple now, and Indiana only has one offensive rebound, but in Indiana fashion, has already been to the line a few times.
Going to locker room, that's huge vs Syr. zone in next round (if IU wins today)
Oladipo getting schooled by Wyatt
He seriously is though, what's that about?!
Khalif Wyatt en fuego
On that OB call on Indiana, did anyone else notice that the screenshot they used to show he was out of bounds was before he even got the ball? Not saying the call was wrong, but how does that prove anything lol
Refreshing honesty from Temple coach Fran Dunphy in the halftime interview, "We're not running a lot of offense." It's all Khalif Wyatt.
Zeller is playing like a huge wuss today (and most days). All he really has is height and a good stroke on the FT line.
He would get pushed around by other bigs in the NBA
These refs didn't get the memo that you can't breathe on Zeller and Zeller just doesn't know how to respond to ordinary officiating
How many flopping fines will Zeller get in the NBA?
Zeller=Adam Morrison.
Indiana getting all the calls and stil complaining.
make up call on lee just then
And it begins. I thought we'd be able to watch a game without B1G-style officiating, but it looks like the 2nd half will belong to Zeller and his bubble of protection.
Indiana expects home court officiating no matter where they play. Thankfully they aren't in the Indiana regional.
Game is being reffed like a B1G game and is very physical. Doesn't bode well for the Hoosiers. That's the recipe to beat them. Ask the effing Badgers.
Zeller has to be the most hated player in college basketball. Soft, always, complaining, and overrated.
5 fouls for Temple and 0 for Indiana. That is a joke.
Did anyone else just see that garbage move by Oladipo to just shove Zeller's defender off him so Zeller could establish position down low? It was subtle, but Oladipo did it while he was cutting through the lane.
Indiana is beatable when refs allow players to breath on Zeller wihtout a foul. As much as I'd like to see an all B1G Final Four, I hate Tom Crean and his haircut too much to root for IU. Also, you gotta love how Temple is griefing IU down low.
I presume we interrupt the B1G circlejerk to root for Temple? If, if, if we make it to Atlanta, I don't want any part of IU again.
It is EXTREMELY difficult for a good team to beat another good team 3 times in the same season.
IF we make it to the Final 4, we are going to be playing a pretty darn good team no matter what. I'd think playing with a chip on our shoulder would be ok, especially when the game does not have B1G refs.
This is basketball, sir. There are no such thing as "B1G refs."
A foul on Indiana!
