He is either staying close to home (7 hour drive> 4 hour flight) or going overseas during the biggest epidemic in Europe of our lifetime. He is going to let the process work itself out and see where our BPONE takes him. Also Castleton will announce a life changing decision based on his within a few hours because a player at another position is how you should make all life decisions.

The AF assistant was a video analyst on the staff here, so I doubt there's anything more than that.

If he's gone, I'd look at Oakland as a likely destination.  They were ravaged by transfers and I'm sure Kampe is selling him on being the next Kendrick Nunn (Illinois -> OU -> NBA).

I know he posted a farewell tweet earlier, but committing/farewell posts can always be deleted as weve seen in the last day.

Personally I think he's probably still leaving but at the same time it makes no sense that he leaves with the lack of depth we currently have at the guard position so Ill hold on to some hope he changes his mind.

IMO he would probably be the starter next season at PG. Smith has good stats in a small conference but that doesnt always translate to good play in a power conference. Dejulius knows the offense and players tend to make that jump in production from their sophomore to junior years

Honestly his departure makes no sense at all. Even with Smith, hes guaranteed a ton of minutes. If it was because of Christopher then it made sense, but doesnt now. I think this is just a computer mistake but it would be nice if him and Juwan had a talk and hes changed his mind.

I’ve been checking the last few days and I don’t think he ever was listed. Like you said, I wouldn’t get my hopes up or read too much into it.

I'm sorry, but I'm not going to be sorry about saying this - if he decided to leave because of competition (ie: Christopher), then goodbye, good luck somewhere else.  Point guards that are capable of leading a team through a tough season and NCAA tournament play (where PG play is at a premium) do not give up in the face of competition.

With the exception of coaches and teammates, nobody but he and his family know why he decided to leave.  Some say he was looking to leave throughout last season, some say it was competition (minutes).  Fact is, we simply don't know until he tells us.

That said, my opinion goes one of three ways:

  1. He never really wanted to be here
  2. He isn't jelling with the coaching staff/scheme
  3. He doesn't want to face the competition (incoming or present)

In cases 1 & 2, he should go for his state of mind, and I wish him all the luck in the world.  In case 3 - good luck, but don't let the door hit your ass on the way out.

Personally, I very much doubt it's case #3.  He's good enough at basketball to not be scared of someone else.  Yeah, I get that is the easiest path for us to think, but lets give the kid some credit and NOT say that he's scared of competition (which = minutes).

If I’m honest, I liked the idea of DDJ a lot more than I actually liked his game. Like Jordan Poole, he never met a contested step-back three that he didn’t like and it wasn’t the greatest. He also couldn’t finish at the rim because he was on the shorter side. He could play good defense and hit floaters, but I’m actually excited about Brooks, 3 wings, and a big to start out, getting Zeb some minutes

He literally just posted a farewell message. There is a 0.0% chance he stays at Michigan.

I don't care what 247's clone of the transfer portal says.
