David Dejulius no longer listed on 247 transfer portal page
No concrete evidence he is staying yet but this is a potentially interesting development
https://247sports.com/college/michigan/Season/2020-Basketball/TransferPortal/
Be awesome if he chose to stay. I have always thought he would be a great PG in his 3rd and 4th years
He is either staying close to home (7 hour drive> 4 hour flight) or going overseas during the biggest epidemic in Europe of our lifetime. He is going to let the process work itself out and see where our BPONE takes him. Also Castleton will announce a life changing decision based on his within a few hours because a player at another position is how you should make all life decisions.
Please shut up already. LA to Phoenix is 4.5 hours easy if you before wish hour or during the weekend. Also, maybe you're not aware but driving to a game is affordable and flying is not. Flying will continue to be dangerous until we have a vaccine, driving less so.
4.5 hours?! It’s not the autobahn...
It is NOW!

It was before too. There’s nothing between LA and Phoenix once you hit the desert. If you’re going 85, move over to the slow lane, please.

what is wish hour?
You seem mad
How long does it take to make a trip with a 4 hour flight? Hint, it's nowhere near 4 hours. It's not cheap, you can't always travel at the times you prefer and flight schedules change.
Salty bunch. Yeesh
I transferred my portal using the post office

He posted a farewell on social media earlier today, but these last few days have been so fucking weird that I'm not ruling anything out
He just tweeted a goodbye message earlier today.
He’s also been tweeting about an Air Force assistant.
He's smashing an Air Force assistant?
The AF assistant was a video analyst on the staff here, so I doubt there's anything more than that.

If he's gone, I'd look at Oakland as a likely destination. They were ravaged by transfers and I'm sure Kampe is selling him on being the next Kendrick Nunn (Illinois -> OU -> NBA).

No way he transfers to Air Force. First, he would have to start all over as a Freshman. Second, after your first year, you are in the Air Force for 5 years after graduation, or you quit. Doesn't make any sense.
Even the damn transfer portal wants to get in on the emotional assault on Michigan fans...as if the last several days havent been enough.
247 mod fucking with us by removing his name lol. I could see it
I know he posted a farewell tweet earlier, but committing/farewell posts can always be deleted as weve seen in the last day.
Personally I think he's probably still leaving but at the same time it makes no sense that he leaves with the lack of depth we currently have at the guard position so Ill hold on to some hope he changes his mind.
IMO he would probably be the starter next season at PG. Smith has good stats in a small conference but that doesnt always translate to good play in a power conference. Dejulius knows the offense and players tend to make that jump in production from their sophomore to junior years
Honestly his departure makes no sense at all. Even with Smith, hes guaranteed a ton of minutes. If it was because of Christopher then it made sense, but doesnt now. I think this is just a computer mistake but it would be nice if him and Juwan had a talk and hes changed his mind.

This never made sense to me. DDJ appeared to exactly on the same track as Derrick Walton was after two years. Worked out pretty well for him. Taking a year off and starting over makes no damn sense, especially if you have aspirations to become a pro as soon as possible.
If DDJ removed his name from the portal, what are the chances 247 would just change their database without comment?
I have access to the portal via my job. He's listed as active in the portal.
Are you Kurt Russell or the dorky looking scientist with the glasses?
Maybe Tango's hot sister?

What is this movie? Asking for a friend.
old kickass movie
Tango and Cash
His "circle" never wanted him at Michigan anyway. He almost transferred last year. He isn't coming back.

Seem like every recruit of note has some mysterious circle guiding their decisions which often includes a shoe company and a shady uncle looking to try to cash in on his nephew (broadly - not saying this is necessarily DDJ's situation). Gotta love basketball recruiting
I’ve been checking the last few days and I don’t think he ever was listed. Like you said, I wouldn’t get my hopes up or read too much into it.
I'm sorry, but I'm not going to be sorry about saying this - if he decided to leave because of competition (ie: Christopher), then goodbye, good luck somewhere else. Point guards that are capable of leading a team through a tough season and NCAA tournament play (where PG play is at a premium) do not give up in the face of competition.
With the exception of coaches and teammates, nobody but he and his family know why he decided to leave. Some say he was looking to leave throughout last season, some say it was competition (minutes). Fact is, we simply don't know until he tells us.
That said, my opinion goes one of three ways:
- He never really wanted to be here
- He isn't jelling with the coaching staff/scheme
- He doesn't want to face the competition (incoming or present)
In cases 1 & 2, he should go for his state of mind, and I wish him all the luck in the world. In case 3 - good luck, but don't let the door hit your ass on the way out.
Personally, I very much doubt it's case #3. He's good enough at basketball to not be scared of someone else. Yeah, I get that is the easiest path for us to think, but lets give the kid some credit and NOT say that he's scared of competition (which = minutes).
I never liked his look in that one game where he wore dreads.

Has anyone checked the teams he was linked to? Does he show up on anyone else’s roster? I’m not sure how the site works.
April 15th, 2020 at 10:13 AM ^
It's my understanding he's been thinking about this for awhile and that it has nothing to do with the basketball team.
Sometimes you just don't feel comfortable.
April 15th, 2020 at 10:26 AM ^
He probably already has a team/school lined up. He's gone.
April 15th, 2020 at 11:26 AM ^
If I’m honest, I liked the idea of DDJ a lot more than I actually liked his game. Like Jordan Poole, he never met a contested step-back three that he didn’t like and it wasn’t the greatest. He also couldn’t finish at the rim because he was on the shorter side. He could play good defense and hit floaters, but I’m actually excited about Brooks, 3 wings, and a big to start out, getting Zeb some minutes

Am I missing something? This was posted just a little while ago, saying DDJ is going to choose his transfer destination tomorrow:
He literally just posted a farewell message. There is a 0.0% chance he stays at Michigan.
I don't care what 247's clone of the transfer portal says.

Yes, please. Bring Castleton back too in Todd's spot.
