a total man of his word or the best actor on the face of the planet. Let's hope it's the former.

Umm remember his Dominos commercials? I'm gonna go with Man of His Word.
October 13th, 2010 at 11:28 PM ^
Normally, if someone said to me: "A guy told me that a guy told him that this person of interest said ____," I would take it with a grain of salt.
But because it was tweeted... on The Internet, no less!.... I believe it. Oh, how I believe it!
October 13th, 2010 at 11:47 PM ^
True, but what motive does a UNC recruit have for making this up?
October 14th, 2010 at 12:06 AM ^
because he knew that if he did, he'd end up getting an mgoboard post and who doesn't want that!
October 13th, 2010 at 11:31 PM ^
Mr. Brandon, feel free to dip your hand into my hat full of positive superlatives and grab whichever one you'd like.
October 13th, 2010 at 11:39 PM ^
How did you get Fred Jackson's hat?
October 13th, 2010 at 11:44 PM ^
How could I not? I heard it was the best, biggest, softest, coolest, most incredible hat in history. I was told it's like if Abe Lincoln's hat and Batman's bat-hat had a baby girl that eventually married and procreated with a gladiator's helmet, except higher-tech, stronger, and more honest.
October 14th, 2010 at 10:13 AM ^
This is probably the best sub-thread in any topic I've ever had the pleasure of reading. Tremendous. Just tremendous.
October 14th, 2010 at 10:40 AM ^
I overheard Fred Jackson talking about this sub-thread, and he said it was like the illegitimate lovechild of the original McFarlin post and the Lloyd Brady photoshop post, except with more hilariousness.
October 14th, 2010 at 1:26 PM ^
+1 for making me think...WTF!?!?
October 14th, 2010 at 7:33 AM ^
He has one of Fred Jackson's air pistol's and is not afraid to use it!!!
October 13th, 2010 at 11:32 PM ^
I posted this before, but i'll post it again.... the site takes a while to load, but well worth it:

I loves me some Dave Brandon
October 13th, 2010 at 11:33 PM ^
Did he say anything about GERG? lol
October 13th, 2010 at 11:33 PM ^
tweet deleted or hidden?
October 13th, 2010 at 11:42 PM ^
I am wondering the same thing. I don't see this tweet anywhere.
October 13th, 2010 at 11:47 PM ^
feldman rted it too so it was there at one point
October 13th, 2010 at 11:45 PM ^
We are so fortunately he is the AD. RR & Gerg won't be going anywhere.
October 14th, 2010 at 3:23 AM ^
Rich Rod's continued employment is Brandon's call. GERG's continued employment is Rich Rod's call. Different situation.
October 14th, 2010 at 4:04 AM ^
However, because RR will be here, and because DB will not interfere with his staffing, I believe that Gerg will be given two years to perform by RR, minimum. This is sufficient time for him to show significant improvement, hence, RR & Gerg will both be here a long time, at least as long as they want to be here.
October 14th, 2010 at 5:56 PM ^
I'm not sure why you assume this. There is no particular reason to assume that RR feels like his job security is dependent on GERG's continued employment. The two men had no history together before 2009. The fact that RR sacked Shafer after the 2008 season suggests that he's willing to make a staff change if he feels it's for the best.
October 13th, 2010 at 11:45 PM ^
I really love DB. Think about all he has done. Night game, playing Bama in 2012, permanent lights. And, he did it with class all the way. A true businessman, down to his attention to PR.
October 13th, 2010 at 11:51 PM ^
As someone who took JJ's negotiation class, keep in mind that DB has nothing to lose by saying this. Just sayin'.
October 14th, 2010 at 12:14 AM ^
Absolutely correct. There has been no official contract extension. However, DB always stated he supports Coach Rod, but this seems like a vote of confidence in a more major way. I am probably getting ahead of myself though.
October 14th, 2010 at 3:27 AM ^
I had JJ for secured transactions. Straight shooter, that guy. Was never afraid to tell a kid that he was full of shit. Kind of ironic.
October 14th, 2010 at 12:06 AM ^
October 14th, 2010 at 12:25 AM ^
There's no doubt in my mind that he's going to wait for the Levin seat to open up in either 2014 or a special election after that.
October 14th, 2010 at 12:41 AM ^
There's a lot of doubt in my mind about that. I think by taking the AD job, he basically ruled out further political involvement.
October 14th, 2010 at 4:11 AM ^
.....and 75% of the idiots living in it -- but Meeechigan, well lets not screw with a good thing. Give Dave Brandon whatever he wants, whenever he wants it and may it be a long, long, long time before he ever leaves his current position at this University. This state is already #$%^& up, but our athletics are just getting ramped up on so many levels.
Focus people. Focus on what REALLY matters.
October 14th, 2010 at 12:59 PM ^
The great State of Michigan is in a bad way, but it's rebuilding much like M football. I believe strongly that our state is going to rise from the ashes and kick ass again. But it's going take the commitment of millions of us. I'm all in.
October 14th, 2010 at 12:10 AM ^
That Rich will be around Michigan does not mean that he will be the head coach of Michigan for a long time. In fact, if he does "fail" (which I do not expect), I believe most committed Michigan fans would prefer him to stick around as perhaps... Offensive Coordinator? Now, I know that is not how things are usually done, and that a new coach typically brings a new system, but it is a loophole in which David Brandon can keep his word (and perhaps an exciting prospect, if idealistic).
October 14th, 2010 at 12:30 AM ^
no chance
October 14th, 2010 at 1:28 AM ^
I've never known a head coach being paid a multi-million dollar salary to step aside for another head coach. RR will stay here a long time because he's proven he's able to do what those who proceeded have done. He's building a team that will consist of more high quality college football players than the majority of his conference counterparts.
Any lean years we've experienced since the arrival of Bo can be attributed to years in which we were forced to play young, inexperienced players, not unlike the two most recent seasons, and still in effect on the defensive side of the ball.
He's actually put together a very dangerous offense that is about as 180 as you can get from what we have known for the better part of two decades, and he's done so quickly. Hell, he's not ever half-way through his original contract and the pieces are coming together. In this instance, I don't think Brandon is stretching the truth at all. He can see what's going on, and he is aware of the youth factor on the team also.
October 14th, 2010 at 7:54 AM ^
Say huh? Realistic? RR would not stay to be the OC, you can be assured of that at least.
October 14th, 2010 at 9:41 AM ^
You have to be kidding. No HC of RR's stature would ever remain in a program in a reduced role.
October 14th, 2010 at 12:24 AM ^
David Brandon also told Williams not to believe the people who say RR has to win a certain number of games to keep his job. He said that RR will be here for a long time and will win a few national championships at UM.
October 14th, 2010 at 12:28 AM ^
UM is 5-1.Furthermore, to even hint otherwise would be detrimental to UM. Brandon is doing what any AD would do.
October 14th, 2010 at 11:03 AM ^
I don't get this "what else is he going to say?" meme. Brandon went out of his way to personally speak to the recruits. And he explicitly told them that RichRod is going to be here for a long time.
He didn't have to do that. But somehow in your mind "didn't have to do that" is equal to "he had no choice." This is very weird thinking.
October 14th, 2010 at 12:54 AM ^
It's just AD speak.
October 14th, 2010 at 11:17 AM ^
Dave Brandon did not have to speak to all the recruits in this past weekend, and he did not have to mention RichRod's job security. Yet he did do those two things.
It's not "AD speak" if ADs normally don't do this.
October 14th, 2010 at 12:58 AM ^
I have a mancrush on David Brandon.

So most of you believe RR is the answer? So be it, make a change in D Coordinator during the bye week. GERG has failed at every objective expected of a coach. His players are not fundementaly improving. He is not recruiting at all. The tone and culture of the defense is horrid.
The D Cord has to manage the system. RR makes no bones about the fact he is an offensive coach and relys on his DC to handle half the team.
Select a current position coach that has the ability to motivate and bail water while plugging some of the huge leaks in the hull.
Pay a sh** hot position coach from a succesful defense to come in this winter. By making this change, we lose nothing. We are currently the worst defense in the nation with no influx of talent expected due to lack of recruiting.
Some of you kool aid drinking fools sound like State fans from 5-6 years ago. "Oh John L will bring us around, just give him time, he climbs mountains."
October 14th, 2010 at 8:52 AM ^
Take that weak-ass humpty-bumpty and go troll elsewhere. Also, I am billing you for wasting 30 seconds of my time.
October 14th, 2010 at 11:00 AM ^
All I saw in your comment was "WAAAAH WAAAAH WAAAAH MY BLOODLUST MUST BE SATED WAAAAAH WAAAAAAH"
October 14th, 2010 at 9:09 AM ^
It's sorta funny thay DB even has to "reassure" the recruits with the team being 5-1 and fielding the most exciting offense in college football.
October 14th, 2010 at 3:04 PM ^
Other schools are falsely telling recruits that RR is going to be fired after the season.
