I don't understand why he is transfering now?? Wouldn't it have been better to do it before fall practice started so as to be with your new team and learn their system? Perhaps he thought that he would have a chance with the new coaches and it became clear that he was not going to crack the 2 deep.

Wondering if the freshman already jumped him on the depth chart. Thought he'd have a chance to be like Elliott, grow a huge beard and finally see the field as a 5th yr guy.

Best of luck to him. I could tell when he committed in that monster o line class and was the lowest ranked player, he'd be fighting an uphill battle to see the field. I'm glad to see he enjoyed his time here though and hope he's successful wherever he ends up.

It just comes down to what's more important to him - playing football or getting a UM degree. Best of luck to Dan.

is more important than getting a degree from one of the best public universities in the world, and playing for one of the best coaches in the country in the bargain.

I don't really understand that mindset myself, but then I've never been a scholarship athlete. I hope his decision works out well for him.

It absolutely blows my mind how uneducated, unintelligent, and misinformed most "Michigan Fans" who comment on facebook pages seem.  On the 247 sports announcement of Samuelson's transfer someone actually commented "Dan Samuelson? Never heard of her."

Really?

Thank you to them for making our fanbase look ridiculous, and thank you to mgoblog for being full of people who actually have brains.

There is no doubt that Michigan is a great university but is there any hard evidence that having a Michigan Degree is any better than any other university and helps in getting a job assuming the person hiring isn't a Michigan alum?

Bummer, but hey, if the writing is on the wall that he's not going to get to play, it might be in his best interest to look elsewhere. Don't blame him for one second for transferring.

Best of luck, Samuelson. I'll be rooting for you wherever you go.
