better them than MSU or OSU
Eh, this one isn't over. He's only ever been there once, he's on a visit high, and it's completely across the country. We'll have another chance at this one.
I could be wrong about this, but wasn't his visit to USC just within the past day or so, perhaps even yesterday? If that is the case, it could very well be post-visit "wow", if you will, but I suppose we won't really know for some time more than likely. As people have said, there's time yet definitely to see what ultimately happens.
He's still there. He and Weber fly back tomorrow I believe.
Hayes has been the ultimate "the last visit to school X blew me away. They are my leaders now" recruit and like everyone has mentioned, there's a ton of time until he has to sign on the dotted line, so I wouldn't say this one is over.
You call yourself a salesman you sonofabitch?
Still this is actually a good thing if his heart is not here - no more drama of decommitment.
to USC? Then good luck to him there, except when we beat him and his Trojans in the Rose Bowl!
...but I'd put about $10 on him decomitting before NSD '16. He's out in an exotic location on a visit high. Caught up in the pomp and circumstance. But, if I'm wrong and it sticks, not the end of the world. Good for him for making up his mind and sticking with it. I just have a gut feeling that this isn't over.
This one hurts. It's a long way to go though.
but I cant imagine just eliminating my lead school of interst because of it
I am also pretty surprised by this, both the error and the apparent reaction. Especially considering his connection to the program. Of course, it is possible that he really just likes USC better. Disappointing, again, but I wish him the best no matter where he ends up.
I went to the same HS as Penn State DB Kimani Herring. Kim's older brother attended UM and was a big fan. Moeller's staff apparently was late in getting his plane tickets for his official visit and that turned him off. I suppose it would have been uncool for them to point out it was only a three-hour drive.
this started other than another site. i'll believe it when someone credible tells me it happened. Even if it is, it was an accident and I'm sure they can get it resolved. If he made the decision based on anger at Michigan, I'd say it is even less likely to stick.
and maybe it wasn't an accident.
thing he was under.
I'm not sure an early signing period would be a good thing, but at 17 I pretty much wanted to go to every school I visited (and I even visited Purdue). I'm sure the red carpet treatment at a place like USC for a big time recruit is so awesome. Can't blame him. Maybe he just wants to beat ND?
Somehow I still ended up going to GMI even after visiting. That lasted less than a year. Was bad enough they changed the name after my class got on campus and told us we would be getting the new diplomas, but then I realized how much of a joke the actual school work was for business majors.
Duh, if he wanted to be an engineer, he would have went to Alabama...
I hope someone gets in his ear over the next year
Parents: "You committed where?"
I hope we get him. Michigan has pretty much cleaned up with instate recruits since 2012.
does this affect the under/over?
Lots of speculation that he may be transferring to a high school out there.
May or not be related..but it was interesting to note that Hayes was not even listed in the OLSM summary in the Detroit News Preseason Top 20 teams that was published Thursday (see link at bottom - OLSM is #13 in list). This may have just been a mistake but in the past I know that the writers usually would contact the coaches to discuss their teams so they could write a quick summary. Perhaps he wasnt included as the coach already knew he was leaving. Then again, it could just be a mistake that he wasnt listed.
I feel like he'll visit a few places, but remain a 'soft commit' to USC...but on signings day, commit elsewhere...
Whatever floats his boat...but ROJO, NOOOOOOOOO!
Notre Dame's Justice Hayes thinks he might reconsider...
this one is far from over...
A lot can happen in 2 years, especially when you have USC involved. Heck, they could be on their 3rd head coach and 2nd round of NCAA violations by that time.
