I'm like 99% sure I saw Sullivan say on twitter that Moe Ways was getting a big bump during the next rankings. While it's not surprising he didn't jump into the 250, I wonder if he'll be one of the "other" 4 stars that get released tomorrow....or if he'll end up a high 3-star. |
| 9 weeks 5 days ago | Yes |
And UM @ PSU (UM by 15)....but I think it's safe to say that both those games were shocking outcomes (outliers). When the outcome isn't shocking, Kenpom generally nails it. |
| 9 weeks 5 days ago | Kenpom |
Kenpom is scary good at predictions. UM vs. PSU - UM by 16 (off by 1) UM vs IU - IU by 2 (off by 1) UM @ Purdue - UM by 6 (off by 1) UM vs MSU - MSU by 1 (off by 2)

While it's not necessarily a huge surprise for an instate kid to choose UT, this is a 5-star kid choosing the in state school that hasn't been a semi-consistent power since he was in kindergarten. The only thing Hurd has seen is UT being bad or mediocre. Big time kudos to Jones for nabbing him. |
| 10 weeks 1 day ago | I don't know |
Maybe I'm wrong, but I think Miami is the best option out of the #2 seeds Lunardi has here. I wouldn't want to face OSU for obvious reasons (Craft), Kansas has the #5 Kenpom rated defense and has Withey, G'town has the #3 Kenpom rated defense and has 6'8" Big East player of the year Otto Porter. Every time UM faces a top 10 defense (OSU, MSU, Wisco), the offense barely looks better than their horrendous defense. While Miami still has a solid defense (#18 in Kenpom's D ratings), that's basically on par with Indiana (ranked #13) and we didn't struggle to score much against them either time. I'm terrified of UM facing any team with an elite D. But let's face it, UM is going to get an extremely tough matchup in a hypothetical chalk sweet 16 opponent regardless. |

Ahh, didn't realize it was the full 300 updated....thanks |
| 10 weeks 5 days ago | Same weekend |
Same weekend that Trout committed and Marshall pseudo-committed |
| 10 weeks 5 days ago | Ferns |
Ferns was actually around 75-80 in the initial Scout 300....I'm guessing he'll be in the next 20 or so prospects when the full 300 is released tomorrow. I know that these scouting services try to get out these rankings ASAP to drum up more interest and get more $$, but there were so many kids that Scout missed in their first Scout 300 a few months ago. Lorenzo Carter was a 3 star, JuJu Smith as well I believe and now they are both top 10. Joe Mixon & Elijah Hood were both well down the list and now both are in the top 60 or so. Just seems like they haven't evaluated enough guys yet....probably best to wait until around now to release a real top 250/300 since a ton of offers go out after signing day for the previous class. Also, anyone else surprised OSU commit Parris Campbell moved up that high after being unranked by all services? |
| 11 weeks 18 hours ago | Agree |
This is entirely "what have you done for me lately?" but it is nonetheless annoying that everyone forgets that Kansas lost to a team that would struggle to even be .500 in any conference in America (Kenpom has TCU 120 spots lower than PSU.....120!!). It sucks but if UM beats PU and IU, then I think they're back in the discussion for a 1 at least. I just want to see UM avoid a tough chalk sweet 16 matchup; whether they are a 1 or 2 seed doesn't matter. |
| 11 weeks 6 days ago | Agree in a sense |
It's fine to snicker about oversigning, sure, but this isn't a case where Saban is in the wrong. Booting these kids was warranted (at least the 3 that were part of the beating/robbery)....if he hadn't, I guarantee there'd be a thread about how could he let this slide, about how he only cares about football and winning. I'm pretty sure Saban was not eyeballing 4 freshmen with solid football credentials coming out of HS for St. Saban's Hospital or whatever pastures he's sending some kids out to in order to get his next class in. All that said, Saban still treats his football program like a ruthless CEO treats his/her business and it's not fair to the kids that just want to have an enjoyable college experience. |
| 11 weeks 6 days ago | This really isn't about clearning roster space |
Eddie Williams was a universal 5 star recruit, the other 3 4-star recruits (Calloway being a Rivals 100 guy). We can all snicker about how convenient it is for Saban to find room for his next class, but he lost some big time football talent with these guys. The crimes definitely warranted being booted though, just trying to say this wasn't about Saban booting some scrubs off his roster. |

| 12 weeks 4 days ago | To be fair Ace |
To be fair Ace, before last year's commitment-palooza, there were probably only a couple of kids (Lewis, Dawson, Shallman) that you would have thought "this kid might commit this weekend". Most people thought Bosch was leaning ND if I remember correctly, Fox wasn't even visiting that weekend, neither was LTT (I think), Taco and Butt were maybe leaning M, but seemed like they weren't close to making a final decision. I guess what I'm trying to say is...you might want to stay close to a computer this weekend.....just in case. |
| 16 weeks 17 hours ago | Hmmm |
How much did they really recruit him though? I don't believe I heard about Treadwell getting an in home with the coaches when every other recruit they were seriously after did get one. |
| 16 weeks 18 hours ago | Interesting |
I'm still convinced that Treadwell would have ended up here but the coaches stopped recruiting him for some reason....maybe this has something to do with it. |
| 16 weeks 18 hours ago | What about 2012 class? |
We got a kid from TN (Bars) and KY (Clark)....and if you want to count Missouri (hey, they are in the SEC now), then you have Pipkens and Chesson as well. |
| 18 weeks 17 hours ago | Not all 4 stars are created equal |
OSU is also ranked #5 overall by 247 (#2 using the composite rankings) OSU recruits point ratings - 1 96, 6 95's, 4 94's, 1 92, 1 91, 5 90's (18 4-stars under 247 rankings, 16 4-stars using the composite rankings) UM recruits point ratings (in order) - 3 95's, 6 94's, 3 92's, 1 91, 4 90's (17 4-stars under 247 rankings, 17 4-stars using the composite rankings) |
| 24 weeks 16 hours ago | Arkansas is dumb |
This is the move Arkansas should have made. Malzahn was a god at the Arkansas HS level and it can be argued, him, not Cam Newton, leaving Auburn was the reason that team went in the tank. |
| 27 weeks 18 hours ago | Florida is way too high |
The only beef I have is with Florida, who is ranked way too high....and probably setting the passing game in football back 100 years. Knocking Georgia for having a bad schedule and getting waxed by South Carolina is ok, but you need to knock Florida's turnover luck this year. There's way too much "turnovers are random, don't buy into it" on this blog to have Florida ranked #6. I'm not even sure Florida is a top 10 team, let alone #6 |
| 30 weeks 1 day ago | I was going to point this out |
I was going to point this out too (#2 on your list). If you want to beef up South Carolina because they lost to 2 very good teams, then you would have to do the same for UM. Yes, South Carolina destroyed UGA, but they don't have any other wins that are impressive (unless you want to count Mizzou/Vandy, which you negged UGA for). Having said that, I don't think UM needs to be ranked higher, more that South Carolina needs to be ranked lower. At least a few spots lower. |
| 31 weeks 6 days ago | As always... |
As always, what truly separates the SEC from other conferences - 8 of the 12 1st team D are from the SEC |
| 34 weeks 6 days ago | Issue |
This is the only problem I have with the podcasts on mgoblog. They don't allow you to fast forward/rewind from your phone, even if you download it. If it stops streaming or if I exit, I have to start all over from the beginning to get back to where I had stopped listening. I'm not sure why it doesn't have the ability to jump forward/backward, just seems odd. |
| 36 weeks 5 days ago | Campbell=Mouton |
I think Campbell is basically the DT version of Mouton at this point, totally awesome good plays from time to time and totally god awful bad plays from time to time. I'd rather have the consistent guy than one of those types, but hey, until Pipkins/freshmen are ready, he's the best we've got. Here's to hoping it's just Bama's OL being that good than Michigan's DL being that bad. |
| 39 weeks 5 days ago | Right |
Right, what I meant was that he had forgotten to put Thomas in this list (since updated) and McCray was in the Eastern OH group (also since updated). |
| 39 weeks 5 days ago | Update |
Ace, you forgot Dymonte Thomas and Mike McCray's team is in Western OH, not Eastern OH. |
| 41 weeks 5 days ago | Not HS # |
Wormley wore 47 in HS, which is retired by UM, but soon to be "Legend'd" To answer your other question, did Carl Diggs ever line up at DE or was he strictly LB? |
| 41 weeks 5 days ago | Media Guide is up |
The roster on the website isn't up on mgoblue, but the media guide with updated roster is. Link below http://www.mgoblue.com/sports/m-footbl/archive/fbl-guide-2012.html |
| 41 weeks 6 days ago | Early NFL Entries |
As long as Lewan keeps doing what he's doing, he'll be a projected 1st round pick and thus a likely candidate to leave early. If Fitz puts out per carry averages like last year with a heavier workload, it's also likely he'd leave early (RB's having short careers and all). Not sure if there are any other possible early entries, but those 2 definitely come to mind. |
| 42 weeks 1 day ago | I think |
I think that's exactly what they did. That's why Hicks only has 1 red box. They say in their description that the number of red boxes is how many sites were used in the ranking. Since Hicks falls outside the top 250/300, etc of the other lists, they just use the one they have...theirs. It also explains why Northwestern's center is ranked #138 |
| 42 weeks 1 day ago | USC |
USC has 12 Top 100 guys on that composite list and 3 in the top 10....good lord. |
