New football offer: CA DE Deonte "D.J." Johnson

Submitted by Magnus on

Michigan offered a 6'5", 240 lb. defensive end from California named D.J. Johnson.

Here are his highlights (which I'll also embed below):

If you like good football, watch the first two plays of his highlights.

Play #1: He runs 60+ yards to save a touchdown, tracking down a wideout.

Play #2: He chases down a QB from the backside and gets a strip-sack near the opposite sideline.

Great film, but this is a major national recruit, no doubt. Any indication he has any M interest? He already has offers from every major Pac-12 team including UCLA, SC and Oregon plus other major schools like Georgia and Oklahoma. That's quite an early list.

Ever since Durkin left we have been below our quota of DJ's. Seems like a must get to me. Same reason I hope we can pull deejay Dallas out of cali if anything just to hear his pregame intro in the deepest pre-bass drop voice the announcer can muster. And now, your starting wideout... Thanks. I don't see myself as grouchy. I'm just straight-forward and don't believe in a lot of fluff. People interpret that as grouchiness, and I don't really care because it's the internet.

FWIW, I don't think every new offer is post-worthy, but Johnson's film is fun to watch just because of the effort level. You see guys who are big, fast, can jump, are strong, etc., but it's not very often that star players hustle like Johnson does.

and I am sure Missi State is all over him. It will be interesting to see how serious he is about Michigan. Btw, the latest recruit to sign with Michigan, Noro Virus, is just killing it on campus.
