Csont'e York Dunk

Submitted by Michael Scarn on

Nice to see that one of the lower rated commits in this class has the athletic ability to do this:

So do you just not watch football? Every time a CB makes a play, even if he doesn't make a play he stares and jaws and waves his arms. When a LB makes a big hit, what does he do? Stands over the guy and talks.

NBA/college players do the exact same thing if they dunk on somebody. And for the love of god the kid is 18 years old at the oldest. Some of you guys want these kids to come in and be perfect in every way.

Yeah he maybe kept it going a little too long but let the kid show emotion.

And it annoys me just the same. The only plays where any kind of self promoting celebration is warranted (IMO) are:

1)  TD

2) INT/fumble (although fumble should be a team celebration not the groin thrust look at me celebration)

3) 3rd down stop when not in FG range or getting a FG does them no good

4) 4th down stop

I suppose I'll grant feats of amazing athletic ability that result in a first down but I cringe every time I see a player acting like a complete fool after catching a routine pass that gets a first down or when a player acts like a complete fool on anything other than 3rd/4th down.  How many times have we seen teams convert on 3 & 20+? Yeah, that great amazing play you had on 1st and 2nd down don't mean sh!t if they still get the first down.

I'm also barely older than 18. My point with the age thing is he's young. He's a kid. How many high school basketball players can control that emotion AFTER dunking on someone? Not very many I would think. That's my point.

Look, I didn't say it was right and I didn't say it was wrong. Would it have been nice to see him just walk away without the talking and chest pounding? Absolutely. That would've been perfect. But I'm not gonna sit here and criticize the kid for showing emotion. Especially after doing something like that. You learn as you get older.

Your point is true.  It definitely is a good thing not to hoot and holler in your oponents face.  It is obnoxious and disrespectful.  That being said, when you celebrate, you usually show emotion immediately.  If you are all by yourself, like Charles was, it's easy to avoid confrontation.  When you just dunked on someone and they are standing a foot from you at the end of the play, any celebration looks like taunting regardless of intent.

York is a lot like most high school star athletes - he's a big fish in a small pond.  He's the best athlete around.

When he gets to Michigan, that will change.  And if he becomes a big fish at Michigan, then he can probably get away with that stuff to an extent.

Not that that's not a cool clip but he's 6'3" and will soon be a college athlete. I hope he can dunk. Stu Douglass could dunk at the same size and I don't know if we wanted him playing wide out.

62 points in and you've already mastered the emotion "butthurt".  Also, I ,and I am sure many others used to play competitive sports through college.  Never did play tee-ball though.  I'll agree that it is harder to dunk on somebody in a game, but that's due to lack of opportunity.  Dude was pretty unabated to the rim, the defender got up there too late.  Still good to see he has ups.

Well let me clarify more.  Most on here probably never dunked on someone in a game.  Nothing wrong with what he did.  Just because you have a gazillion points for posting all day doesn't make your comments valid.  Sorry but I have a FT job.  Just happen to be on vacation today.

Ooh... cool taunt, bro.  I have a full time job too.  And a wife.  And a house.  And I can beat you up.  And nobody with a professional position would call it an FT job, that's clown shit.  And my son can beat you up.  And my dog can beat up your dad.  And your mother is a whore.  Now what you aspersion casting piece of shit?

See how annoying that is?

Man, you must think everyone on a message board is some fat old loser who collects unemployment.

Check my history.  I've probably only posted like 10-20 times a month.  I just had an account during the old ranking system, when saying something meaningful got multiple points per post.  You'll need to work on that, as it's coming back..

I can't believe I'm even arguing about this...

If you watch a lot of high school basketball, that's pretty much a 6 out of 10 dunk for a big-time athlete.     Not that I want to pump up an MSU commit or anything, but you should see Drake Harris flush it.  It's like he doesn't have to try.

SMH at some of the comments here.  Jeez oh pete, people....get in the spirit of the season and lighten the  F up.   It doesn't matter what side of the fence I sit on, it's just a matter of people seem to bicker about anything and everything these days.

Nice dunk young man.  It's good to know you'll be wearing Maize and Blue in the Fall.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all.

I can't believe the people that get on a kid for jawing a little bit after a huge play. Those kids normally have a chip in their shoulder and it's gives them an edge. If same said player were to be a big time hoops star I college and the pros, people would say he didn't show enough emotion. Why do people think all DI athletes can dunk. Not all 6'3 kids can dunk on someone, and they are still considered very good athletes. Levert can't throw down on anyone and I have never seen a clip of him even running. Brundige couldnt dunk,
