The Colorado Buffaloes football program went 1-11 and fired Karl Dorrell midseason. Not even nine months later, the Buffs have now sold out their season tickets for the 2023 campaign..... On top of that, season tickets are gone in mid-April, marking the first time in program history that it has happened before the month of August.

Colorado football has sold out only 9 times in its entire history.

“Sold out” is different from “sold out all season tickets”. I would be curious to know what that total number of season tickets actually is (because if it’s low, good job CU marketing department for keeping the buzz up).

As a Colorado Alum, I can tell you that the fan base would be thrilled with a bowl game this year. It's been interesting watching fans of other teams talk about Colorado being disappointed because they may not be a top 10 or top 25 team. Real fans/alums know how bad this team was and they have a tough schedule. A bowl game would be reason to rejoice. The betting over/under is 4.5 wins for reference.

More than anything, Colorado is actually interesting which they haven't been since about 2002.

The thing is, though, they could outperform expectations and still finish 5-7. Even if Deion turns out to be a fantastic coach he can't fix that roster in one year.

He's certainly done a good job of getting talent to come to Colorado, but that's only part of the job. It'll be interesting to see if he can do the rest of it.

Is anyone saying that he isn't? It's pretty clear that even if he is successful it's gong to take at least a couple of years to turn around Colorado. The portal will presumably allow him to speed things up a bit, although it's not clear yet just how much.

He has built up some oversized expectations, though, which for this season at least I think need to be tempered a bit.

I'm looking forward to seeing how he adjusts to coaching at the Power 5 level. He deserves at least as much time as Scott Frost (and coincidentally I think they have Nebraska on their schedule next year).

He had a nice record at JSU, but Colorado will not be playing the teams JSU played.  I'd say he's all hype right now since he's still unproven in a major conference.  He has a nickname because of his record at one school. Is he still called "Coach Prime" if he shits himself in the next 5 years?

Scott Frost nearly took a 3rd tier team to the playoffs a few years ago and his run at Nebraska was a nightmare. Rich Rod looking like a genius at WV then... we all know that story.  Anything can happen but look how bad things can get for a coach with the weight of an entire fanbase on his shoulders.

I see 5 losses that jump right out, a couple more probable losses, then some toss-up win possibilities.  I'll agree with Alum96 in granting respect for that schedule, though!  I do think they'll play a LOT better than they have the previous several seasons, but that doesn't mean they'll win a lot of games.  Show me some competitive losses in the not-outright losing games, and at least look like a credible football team vs the guys they have no chance against, and you'll have earned my respect.

They actually vetted who was buying the tickets which is why it took so long for them to announce this. They had thousands of requests above their available season tickets shortly after the Deion hire and went through to make sure they were actually going to alums and real fans. It took them several months of vetting and they are announcing now as people have been notified if they got tickets.
