Mazi would get picked ahead of him imo.

This one sucks. Hinton is an NFL talent but it’s always frustrating to see these guys leave early before reaching their college potential like Aidan and Ojabo.

I think he was ready to take a big leap next and be a force with Mazi.

Good luck to him, he was a big part of the successful season.

And a fine illustration of why you always have to be crootin and developin the next guy.

No doubt. Every single scholarship matters.

Good for Hinton if he thinks it’s the best time to jump. Hopefully they’re comfortable with current depth bc Harbaugh/Brown let that spot slide a bit. They got solid DT play this year but overall depth hasn’t been great. Plenty of opportunity for youngsters to step up under new coach

Wow that’s a hit. Defense is gonna be bad next year. Was definitely banking on the dline to carry them, not so much anymore

Most here also thought we would have a bad defense this year. No one expected players like Hutch, Ojabo, Hawkins, Hinton, Turner and Green to improve as much as they did.

I don't think our defense will be as good as it was this year but I think Mac can get the most of out his players.

Seems like it might be a bit early for him to make that jump - can he come back if the draft grade isn't where he wants it?

Do they have a period of time where they can still come back or if you declare are you officially gone no matter what? I don’t follow the NFL declarations like the NBA

We cannot portal unless grad transfer 98% of the time, because our admissions department has their nose up in the air.

Gonna have to ask Virginia, North Carolina, Northwestern, and Stanford to see if they have an underclassmen who will portal in.  Pretty much every other school has no academic standards per our admission staff.

Man… would’ve been nice if it was phrased like he was going to explore his draft stock… this seems more of the certain route. Best of luck to him

I thought he had the chance to blow up next year into a potential first rounder, but he seems pretty draftable to me this year too, so good luck to him.

Well, we got some nice players in last year's class, and also from 2020 that would hopefully be able to play. And there's at least 2 freshmen who are said to be game ready. I've lost too much sleep worrying about this stuff when it always turns out to be so unpredictable anyway.

I'm taking the optimistic route and thinking that he couldn't hold off Welschof any longer and decided to go to the NFL instead of losing his starting job... yeah that's the ticket!

Wow that's a kick in the nuts

Here I was thinking the interior of the line was going to be a strength, and edge unproven

But now we'll have to hope Benny steps in, or one of the less heralded guys levels up. Or maybe one of the tweeners bulks up and ascends

Any idea if he'll be leaving with a degree in hand? I don't believe he was an early enrollee, so it would have been tough to manage in 3 years. Best of luck to him. I'm sad his time was so short.

This is the first of the transfer/NFL departures that definitely hurts.  Hopefully it's the last and hopefully one of the younger guys or a portal player fills his spot.
