Is liberated, our back pocket shall surely gain full capacity. Our staff can recruit those whom they want. We'll be in fine shape every class.

Relax a little bit. It's Friday already.

or did he tell Carter that while he would still get the scholarship, his chances of getting playing time were extremely minimal, given the roster?

There's a significant difference, at least to me.

is going to be with us forever and I value that.  Recall the meritocracy and thus if Coach is telling you that he doesn't see you near the top echelon of that, then he is trying to do what is best for the Team and the Recruit at the same time.   The scholarship should go to a player who can challenge in the meritocracy and the Recruit should go to a school where he can do the same.  I see nothing mean or heartless about it, it is truly the best situation for all parties involved.

Obviously it would be really cool to see a 2nd generation of Dunaway playing for the Block M, and I think almost anyone over 25 has been thru situations where your dreams didn't quite meet up with reality.  It is part of life and is normal.

My free advice is not to get attached to any recruits.  Wait until they are on the Team and then you can love them with all of your heart (lol).

Sad to see a legacy kid seemingly told to look elsewhere. But, except for not offering him until they are ready to honor it (which I now think just doesn't really happen anymore, so I won't die on that hill), this is the way you do it. Tell the kid directly, do it early enough for him to still have options, and handle the kid gently enough where there are no hard feelings.

Our depth chart is really deep at TE right now. Therefore, unless it's a top recruit TE, I think we could actually get away with not taking one in the 2017 class. The coaching staff may already be thinking the same thing. We can let the next TE be apart of the 2018 class. We definitely want to have room for all the high level 2017 recruits who are still interested in Michigan.

upside as an OT. He has good athleticism for his height, his frame can probably hold 300+ lbs, and he sets pretty well when blocking in the limited film. Plus he doesn't appear to have the athleticism and speed for TE. Much like Jansen turned into an outstanding OT after TE in high school. Maybe JH said the same since UM needs OL more than TE or JH offered a gray shirt. Best of luck to him.

Numbers crunch. I will be surprised if both Kurt Taylor and Chase Lasater are in the class. Even though they are both Michigan Smash You Up football kind of guys!

Size ... obviously real stuff isn't there. I think Harbaugh knows TEs. Sparty probably swoop in to get an instate guy for their top 25 class.

Prob only taking one this year. Kid more of a Neb/Indiana type prospect - has a nice frame but is def a developmental guy. No reason Michigan shouldnt get one of the top guys in the country at TE every year.

Seems like he was told Michigan was pursuing more higher ranked TEs + already had a plethora. Playing time seemed most likely in short supply for Carter. Best of luck to him for sure!

Here here Carter, they would not even recruit me to walk on, but I'm a Michigan fan through and through. Best of luck to you and yours may the football Gods give you nothing but good luck all the way to the NFL. Then hopefully the Lions will pass on you to get another wide out receiver. Then the Patriots take you to fill in for Gronkowski's retirement

He probably wanted more playing time but knew it may take a few years to even compete for a starting job. He probably asked Harbuagh for his evaluation and Harbuagh probably told him the truth that you would be a 2nd stringer at best, so he decided to go else where. I would be happy getting to be 2nd or 3rd string and getting my Michigan degree but he wants more playing time, so best to luck to  him.
