Quick, fix the title before someone else sees it!
Bunting may prove to be more difficult to overthrow than Funchess
Or else all the armchair English quarterbacks would be all over this.
Coming down on all of these athletes out here doing English for real.
Like a buncha third string wannabes
I threw the guy a bone with a + for the post but he will likely get bombed for that. Maybe the holiday spirit will win out and people won't make a big deal about it.
and don't really give a fuck, but as a whole I would have to conclude you are the most arrogant bunch of Michigan fans found on one forum in the www. Have to believe the majority here know a whole hell of a lot more about English Comp than they do M football. Jaheezus people, if you don't like something that's written ignore it. I'm not looking for any points, be they negative or positive. Will not apologize for trying to share information I thought might not have been posted already. Inasmuch as I don't "Set on this site" like many others, I guess I'll just visit rather than attempt to contribute because all you Big Bangers seem to have that pretty well covered, although only a little of what I find interesting. My apologies and happy 4th.
Calm down Batman, there are grammar nazis in pretty much every site that allows comments.
*Calm down Batman, BECAUSE there are...
There needs to be a comma after calm down. Calm down, Batman. There are grammar nazis...
That is a rather large, and somewhat thoughtful, paragraph for someone who refuses to contribute a fuck concerning things in which you do not understand....sir.
P.S. I accept your apology.
I saw this comment and then went back and re-read the rant and pretended that the OP was the Dawson dude crying like your avatar while typing it. Made that post 1,000x better.
Besides, accusing MGoBlog of not being big fans of Michigan Football is like going to a Justin Bieber concert and accusing all the teenyboppers of not knowing all the lyrics.
Michigan fans are generally stereotyped as an arrogant bunch. This being the the highest concentration of Michigan sports fans on the web would lead one to believe that you are correct in your assertation that MGoBlog is thus "the most arrogant bunch of Michigan fans found on one forum in the www ." So you win that round.
That being said, a lot of people here appreciate your input, hence why your post is still standing. Additionally, a lot of people (including some of those same appreciative ones), like to bust people's chops when it comes to grammar and other nitpicky things as such. It's just how forums on the internet work in general and it's mostly just in good fun. You just have to say "whatever, douchebags" to yourself, make any edits if absolutely necessary, and move on. It's when you go on the offensive by posting a long paragraph like you did saying that you don't really give a fuck that turns you into the bad guy and validates any board bullying that was going on beforehand.
I know you don't really care, but as a long timer here who's watched people like you who joined around the same time as me slowly stop contributing and eventually fall off the site due to miniscule stuff like this, I just wanted to put in my two cents. Best to just embrace and enjoy the quirks and character of the MGoBoard than to become jaded by it.
Btw - Happy 4th to you, too!
Yes, Michigan fans can be an arrogant bunch, but obviously not many of you spend a whole lot of time with fighter pilots.
Trust me...you all got nothin' on them.
The plaque for the alternates is in the ladies room
And they just never turn it off. God bless 'em, each and every one.
I was on your side until you pitched a fit instead of ignoring or fixing what was pretty obviously just a typo.
Good info in the original post.
As soon as he went paragraph about not giving a fcuk...
Borges' wet dream, but nightmares for opposing D-coordinators
Idiomatic usage aside, it is not okay to refer to "wet dreams" in the context of a coach-athlete relationship.
I see no problem here. Everyone, including you since you made note of it, knows the intent. Relax. It's Fourth of July. Go have a brat, or whatever other grill treat gives you a wet dream.
when the young chap's name is Butt.
Bedsheets are the only things in danger of getting hurt by wet dreams.
Unless there is someone else in bed with you....
I'd wait to see how Bunting is in coverage with pads on first, before jumping to conclusion based off a vertical jump.
Ohh I see what you did there... Before you JUMP...
and probably think you're cool. 6'6" with a 33 gets you to a certain vertical point. You can do the math on the rest, especially if we have an OC that employs someone on the other side of the offense that demands attention. That was my only point. When you employ one, two, possibly three of this type inside the 10 simple math dictates you have an advantage somewhere because the defense will NOT break with three defenders suited to match, and that was the point I was trying to emphasize. Many went nuts for no apparent reason and I had a great fourth......still going actually and she'll be here when I wake up.
Dont keep her in the closet, man. Women hate that.
I love it!
Appreciates taking a break from their all night monkey sex to post something on MGoBlog at 5 in the morning.
Apparently no one saw bunting catch that skinny post in between coverage. He showed great concentration and athleticism. That was a big time catch against some top recruits. He doesn't look like a kid with another year of high school. This kid will be an NFL player for sure, barring injury.
My old ones were short guys, I must make amends.
Worked hard all my lifetime, no help from spread trends.
So oh lord, won't you buy me a pair of Tight Ends.
Sorry Janis, but Al is a good guy, he deserves them.
and so too is the mirror image of you. But we're all guessing, right????
I really like the philosophy of the coaches as far as valuing height with good speed over just elite speed. There are always going to be DBs with crazy speed who can match the receivers, particularly when we meet Ohio or an SEC team in a bowl, but there will rarely be a DB who can out jump a 6'4" receiver who has a step or two on him just due to a well run route. I'm expecting us to be number one in red zone efficiency at the very least.
Snarky comment re grammatical error in thread title.
With the talent at TE we will have at least one All-American. Have we had one at TE since Tuman?
He was third team in 2002.
a significant part of the passing offense. Over the years, we've very seldom employed one to a large extent other than blocking. Even Tuman didn't really catch a ton of balls. I almost think Tyler Ecker was one of the most athletic, but he always seemed to be injured. But Bunting could be an excllent one, at least if he puts on some weight.
Also...pitch it to Breaston dammit!
On my birthday, no less...
This would have been the greatest play in college football history.
Particularly sad version of THE GAME where Michigan's whole passing offense was throwing to TE Bennie Joppru. Seems like that guy was targeted a lot that whole year. Generally I agree though. M does not throw to the TEs much historically.
There was a Kyle Meinke piece back in April in which Borges talked about this particular aspect of the transition in offensive philosophy and how they've recruited to it (LINK).
"I’m a tight end kind of guy," offensive coordinator Al Borges said this week. "I tell guys when we recruit them, when this thing’s working the way it should work, you’ll think you've died and gone to tight end heaven."
He also talks about how he tried to carefully define the roles of Williams and Funchess last year so that they did not get overworked at the position, but he seemed very optimistic about the possibilities at TE this year. He also discusses how he wants (and has been working towards) a position group whose players can catch a pass up the middle but also block well. This thread made me remember this article for some reason.
MOOOOAARRRR FIREWORKS !!!!
and some dude said, "You know who may prove harder to overthrow(n) than Hosni Mubarak? Mohammed Morsi." Yeah. Really makes you think.
The Michigan Spring is easier to follow on twitter vs the Arabic spring
No (Egyptian) Politics!
Alcohol woo! Stella, New Belgiums Abbey, Kuhnhenns DRIPA, Ciroc, and lots of rum :)
That's an insult...
he also ran a 5 second 40 yard dash. Thats slower than some offensive lineman. You guys underestimate how elite Funchess is. On a whole nother level. Jake butt is very elite too
If that was from the opening, he had a pulled hamstring. So have to kind of factor that in.
That would be very fast for an offensive lineman. Keep in mind that he's legit 6'6", and those guys aren't running 4.6s unless they're mega-elite. NFL TEs run in the 4.6-4.7 range at the combine, and some are in the higher 4s. 5 flat is very solid.
For comparison sake, at the last combine, Eifert ran a 4.68 and Ertz ran a 4.76. Those are elite TEs who are 5 years older than Bunting. At that combine, 15 TEs ran the 40. 3 of them were in the 4.8s and 3 more were in the 4.9s.
I'd like to know which offensive lineman is running a sub-5.0 forty. Not a TE, a real honest-to-god 300+lb OL.
Tacopants is real!!!! OMG
I appreciate the info about Bunting. I hadn't heard about it yet, so it was new info to me, so I appreciated you posting it. Don't let the grammar nazi's get you down...keep posting.
Yes, 33 inches is some serious vert, especially on a 6'6" frame. Our QB's are going to have some big targets to throw to, not to mention our WR's are also no longer going to be all 5 foot slot ninjas. The WR's are pretty big too. The future looks bright...
or, as the illustrious TomVH twitter account autocorrection would say, "some serious very"
Everyone has their days of grammar issues. No biggie.
Glad somebody got my joke. Granted, it wasn't very funny.
Imagine if Glenn Robinson suited up as a tight end. 6'6 with a >33inch vertical. And some beef...
I'm excited about these super athletic TEs that will cause big time match up problems for defenses. Notre Dame has had at least one that has caused trouble for our defense in the last 4 years or so. Hopefully they'll be good enough run blockers.
Notre Dame has had some good ones as of late. Fasano, Carlson, Rudolph, Eifert to name a few. I agree with your post and hope we can be on that same track soon. Rudolph and Eifert were nightmares to play against
He did have a spectacular double covered catch in his first 7on7 game.
