It became evident that Brandon was lying when a started saying something.  He opened his mouth and lies fell out!!  As mentioned above, tens of thousands of fans standing, yelling to "get him out he's hurt", television and radio broadcasters all seeing it and yet every coach and apparently all but one medical person missed it.  Lies, lies and more lies.  We go to the stadium and pay to watch the game and apparently do so better than those being paid to watch it....WTF.  I have pretty decent seats and truth be told, I watched this unfold from a decent vantage point but my seats are not nearly as good as the sidelines.

I just want one representative from U of M to stand up and tell the truth.

Figured it out, guys. He released it at 1 am, because it's only 10pm on the west coast, where Dave is, getting Jim Harbaugh to coach Michigan. Harbaugh to Michigan confirmed.

The University is a whore.

Academia has been a whore since the early days of rich men putting up money for buildings a century or more ago, since scientists started selling their research for grants, and Big Football doesn't exactly make the University an honest woman.

Michigan has long been able to hide its whips, handcuffs and chains beneath a cloak of dignity, but the skirt's been lifted. Michigan has been arrested and has been booked and hauled into court with the other prostitutes and pimps of Academia.

This embarrasses us, because we bought into the myth of Michigan being above the gutter for so long.

And not only are we revealed to be just another whore, we have been told we have AIDs.

I am wondering if having the truth exposed should lead us to demand another reform - stop the nonsense, and become part of something more like the Ivy League, where some of the hypocrisy and nonsense are much less of a problem.

People still want to go to Harvard, despite the fact that they're not in the Big Whatever. It's not a bad model.

From Dave Brandon's Statement:

As of Sunday, Shane was diagnosed with a probable, mild concussion, and a high ankle sprain. That probable concussion diagnosis was not at all clear on the field on Saturday or in the examination that was conducted post-game.

. . .Coach Hoke was not provided the updated diagnosis before making a public statement on Monday. This is another mistake that cannot occur again.

From Monday Mornings/Afternoon Presser:

Q: And since all of this has happened have you personally talked with Shane Morris?

A: “Yeah. I saw him yesterday. Saw him this morning.”

Lol this guy is a complete fuckin joke! How he still has a job for us baffles me. I'm gonna go to sleep thinkin that he will never release another statement because he will be fired by the morning. Man that would be awesome. We just need some fuckin good news around here for a change..

I'm no medical expert but isn't there an important rule regarding avoiding sleep immediately after a concussion? If Morris was diagnosed Sunday, that means an even larger degree of neglect may have occurred. I'd be interested in hearing the thoughts of mgodoctors

We must have the worst PR staff in the entire country.  I mean do these people communicate or strategize AT ALL?

Of all the unfortunate mistakes involving Brandon's department that can't be allowed to happen again. It's gotta be a list a mile long at this point. He's such a robot that he uses the same f'ing phrases every single time.

There is no possible way that the entire coaching staff on the field and up in the press box could have missed that massive hit on Morris.

First of all, a flag for roughing was thrown, which would make the coaches want to know why the flag was thrown (assuming that they all somehow, mysteriously missed the hit live). Then the replays were shown on the scoreboard, and the fans booed like crazy when the replay was shown.  So no coach on the field or in the box saw the replays either?? ABC had that shot at a perfect angle.  It was impossible to miss on the replays.

So, Dave Brandon is stating that no Michigan coach, or medical personnel saw either the hit live, or the hit replayed on the scoreboard...AND none of them saw Morris wobbling around right after and put 2+2 together?

In addition to this, Brandon states that he met with all parties involved yesterday, which Hoke denied today. Hoke also denied today knowing that Morris had a concussion. Are they seriously trying to make the public believe that Morris had a concussion and no one told the coach about it for 2 full days after? Unfreaking believable.

These are massive lies by Dave Brandon, on top of the massive lies that Brady Hoke told on Saturday after the game, as well as Monday in his press conference.

These people are dirty, and they clearly are lying.

We need a complete change of culture in the athletic department. First it was covering up the Brendan Gibbons thing, and now this. Lie after lie. It's bullshit and we need to clean house.

p.s. Brian is implying on the front page that Brandon tried to force the medical people to change their diagnosis or at least the "wording".

Damn.  Just damn.  Pure evil.

Hoke is in way over his head and obviously not the right man for this job, but I'll be damned if he hasn't been continually and completely screwed over by the administration that is supposed to be supporting him.  This is a joke.

- Highly recruited guys not being developed well

-Dinasaur offensivive tempo that is totally ineffective

-Coach who doesn't wear a head set and is seemingly clueless to the goings on

-We get told repeatedly how well they've practiced and prepared yet the results keep getting worse

-Head Coach who doesn't realize what's going on around him in the heat of the moment, that is bad leadership and incompetence

-3rd string QB not prepared to go into a game when he suddenly becomes 2nd string and looks like a fool trying to find the right hemet, this right here is an indication of the incompetence from the HC on down

-S&C, why are our guys not getting stronger, can't push people off the LOS and people bagged on Gittleson when he was here, at least we had great OL's who proved themselves in the NFL when he was around.

-Why didn't any of our OL go and defend Shane after that cheap shot and get in the face of the Gopher defender, especially Kalis who just stood there and looked like a coward in not doing so.

There are so many other things, it's truly pathetic, something big needs to be done and now!

That last one is something that really gets me also. If this truly were a "team" someone would have shoved that kid from Minny down on his ass. Like what happened to Nick Foles against the Redskins a couple weeks ago. I wouldn't care if they got in an all out brawl because of it, at least it would have finally gotten some of these guys fired up to play.

Releasing this statement at 1 AM, about 13 hours after it was promised and going on nearly three days after the game, is not exactly getting out in front of the story and telling your side of it first. Perhaps it is the case that Hoke was fed incorrect or insufficient information on the sideline, but it seems to me that letting him speaking twice now in pressers about this and then releasing a statement like this is now setting the staff up for questions that wouldn't need to be asked if the department had been on the ball and leading in this crisis. If Brandon is truly pleased with his head football coach, making him look bad (worse? who knows now...) potentially with a belated release is a weird way of showing it.

Shane left the bench when he heard his name called and went back into the game," Brandon said. "Under these circumstances, a player should not be allowed to re-enter the game before being cleared by the team physician. This clearly identifies the need for improvements in our sideline and communications processes."..... Doesn't this basically contradict everything Brady joke said yesterday? What an absolute train wreck. House must be cleaned.

It's amazing how dumb DB and Brady Hoke must think the General public is. The instances of dishonesty are piling up. As bad as RR was in many areas I don't think he ever lied on video.

Let this be a lesson to all of you - don't bite the hand that feeds you.

Hoke has been terse, purposely untruthful, and downright nasty to the media since the day after he was hired.  At the first hint of turmoil, the sharks circled in the water.  They smelled blood.

And now, they will go for the kill.

Goodbye, Brady Hoke.

That there is a disconnect between the AD and his head football coach is clear. Brandon had information that he did not give to his coach. A coach that was going to be addressing the national media. He allowed Brady to flounder and look like an uninformed coach. Although many may say "that's just what he is" it is unfair to pass that judgement when we know that information was withheld from him.

In the interim, I suggest that Brandon was getting information on Shane's concussion report, seeking legal counsel with the University attorneys, speaking/meeting with the Morris family, and doing the new Michigan thing, apologizing. Contrition works (it has decreased lawsuits at the University of Michigan Medical Center). In addition, I am certain he had to present something to the Regents and to the University President.

Dave Brandon wants to win, at any cost. He has fired non-revenue coaches for records that are far better than Brady's. Programs with good student athletes and coaches who have served honorably (Tennis, water polo to name two). Maybe some of the other posters are right, Dave is trying to parlay this into an alumni donation to cover severance costs and then some to boot. Maybe also, the Regents and President have restricted his authority on the matter because they do not want him to be the person looking for Brady's replacement.

Stephen Jay Gould of Harvard University refers to "tragic optimism". "We do usually manage to muddle through, thanks to rationality with an adequate dose of human decency and hard work". Unfortunately, we do not move toward a solution until a good measure of preventable tragedy has already occurred to supr us into action.
