Bob Stoops takes cheap shot at Michigan

Submitted by Maizen on

Bob Stoops on time off: "You get 2 weeks off, then for spring break you get a week -- unless you're at Michigan..."

I am actually very good friends with contributor Alex Cook (name drop). Everytime we get together, and I mean everytime, we have a good laugh at his favorite coach spoonerism: Stob Boops. What does it have to do with this? Nothing. Nothing other than point out the fact if you rearrange his name it is very funny.

Welcome to the real world. These guys are something else. Get paid millions of dollars and complain because they only get two or three weeks off a year? Please.

Bob Stoops has just admitted that Jim Harbaugh is the hardest working coach out there and certainly more hardworking than he....

Yeah. But you're leaving a whole lot out. Remember when those pensioners couldn't get any of their money for like months at a time?

In no way am I defending our "work til you drop" society, it's pretty shitty really. I'm just a fan of being intellectually honest about everything, all of the time. Otherwise what's the point in discussing anything?

You agree with the claim that in Greece (and Europe generally) the retirement age (with full pension) is 50, and then claim to be "a fan of  being intellectually honest about everything, all of the time?"

It is to laugh.

There is a pretty big differenc between being intellectually honest, and just being wrong. I was agreeing with his broader point about the way that we live, compared to most of Europe. In general they have much earlier retirement, far more time off, and on the whole have their life priorities under much better control than we do here in the US.

But by all means, latch on to the fact that I didn't correct his stated retirement age and ignore the broader point that I was making. That's what the internet is for, I think.

All the insecure coaches are trying their hardest to redirect this issue to be "about the poor kids." Unfortunately, they just come off looking like hypocrites to most people because their working their student athletes to death the rest of the year and just sound like whiners who want to stay home for a few weeks. Build balance into your schedule throughout the year instead of getting burned out. Harbaugh seems to manage it just fine and still take his kids to Disney and wife to Europe, so why can't they?

Is there any coach not threatened by harbaugh now? Sadly i predict Manuel will use this as an excuse to cancel the series with oklahoma and replace it (instead of the 2 open dates) with notre dame
