Big Will

Im sure he played some, but I didn't even notice him. I thought originally he was a big Barwis guy and was getting in shape, and all of a sudden he looks fat and is on the 3rd team. What is going on with him? We are going to need him on the D-line and if he is going to be fat and out of shape, it's gonna hurt us as the season goes on.

Give up trying to find something to complain about. He didn't play because we have upperclassmen who gave us the opportunity to win the game... and we did.

This seems like reaching for something to bitch about. Enjoy the win.

But none of Denard's completions required the receiver to tip the ball to himself with an outstretched fingertip, or reach around the cornerback's helmet, or spear it with a single-hand while dragging a foot in-bounds.  I mean, what's all this business with hitting the receivers between the numbers?

I'm going to leave all personnel decisions to the coaches.

Lke I've been saying, we can speculate all we want, but at the end of the day only the coaches and players know what's really going on.

To be fair, I don't think the OP is arguing that the coaches should put WC first on the depth chart.

I think he's wondering why WC's hasn't progressed to first or at least 2nd string yet given what a highly touted recruit he was (5 star, highest-rated player in the state of MI, etc.)

Seems like a legit topic for discussion.

My point is that we can speculate all we want about why WC isn't on the 2-deep, but only the coaches know the real reason.

Maybe he's out of shape, maybe it was disciplinary, maybe he's hurt, maybe the coaches didn't want to unleash him until the ND game, maybe he was overrated coming out of high school.

People can come up with these theories all day long and we won't get any closer to learning the real reason why WC isn't on the 2-deep.  In the process, some people will probably trash the kid and label him a bust, which only hurts things.  You have to remember that players, families, and recruits probably read this stuff.  I see zero positives and a lot of negatives that can come from a thread like this one.

Also, keep in mind we HAVE speculated ad nauseum about Campbell's (1) appearance on the third string; (2) increased weight; and (3) striking good looks.  OP, I recommend a search for "Will Campbell" over the last fourteen days on the boards.

My real question is where was Max Martin all game?  Last I saw him, he seemed to have so much promise, and I didn't see him take a single snap.  What happened?

Must have been related to the fan behind me who, in all seriousness, told his friend to "Watch out for number 20, the runningback. That's Mike Hart, he's sick." When Mike Shaw busted a decent run, and the PA announcer said, "Michael Shaw with the carry" his friend then stated, "Uhh, dude, I don't think Mike Hart plays for Michigan anymore." "Oh."

The defense provides a pleasant surprising by holding UConn to a mere 10 points.

Response:
Why is that guy so low on the depth chart?  Maybe he would have held UConn to 3 points!

I am so pissed that Mister Simpson cannot beat out those pesky sophomores at RB. And with the need for key LB play, don't even get me started about Cobrani.

Could we all just settle the fuck down about the worries.  Fucking geeze.  It has been one day since the game, just relax, think about whether or not your thread is actually anything more than a worry, and then maybe go have a beer, or have sex with somebody or something, I don't care.  I am not starting another thread about this because, frankly, the amount of these worry threads are clogging the board.

Mods, maybe we could have an Open Worries Thread next time like you all did with the Open Opinions Thread?

Jesus.

They're the only ones who can think up stuff this dumb to complain about after a 20 point win over a team that has been predicted to spank Pitt on Nov 11 and otherwise win the Big East title.

Patterson was the 2nd string NT.  Big Will got zero snaps on defense, but played special teams (not sure which ones, but, last year he was on the kicking team line).

Patterson over Big Will is very telling.  Very. Telling.

People who are jumping on this poster for "complaining" or finding fault in the win yesterday simply didn't read it.

The member asked about a player with all world talent and what he contributed to the game. Then made a point about how he would be valuable on the interior because of his size.

Great items for discussion, not dismissive ridicule.

If you are going to be unnecessarily  rude to another fan, at least be accurate in your reason for being rude.

of discussing something nobody here can settle.  What's going on with Campbell?  We don't know.  Why didn't he play much?  We don't know.  What's beneficial or constructive about continuing to speculate about the guy?  Let's just leave it alone until there's some real information to discuss.

Granted, it was written in an exasperated tone and perhaps my sarcasm at the end fell a little flat, but the Open Opinions Thread seems to be the place to do all of this worrying and concerns and whatnot as it speaks to what we all saw in the last game.  The point of that thread is to keep the board relatively sleek and clean and allow the board to continue to be a source of information rather than exasperation.  Or at least, that's my take.
