Big Ten refs = laughable
October 25th, 2014 at 8:48 PM ^
Indeed. Then, about 3 plays later, the weak side OT for OSU had an obvious false start that wasn't called as OSU converted a 3rd down.
October 25th, 2014 at 9:03 PM ^
Yep. Just as bad. That happened TWICE in our game.
October 25th, 2014 at 8:49 PM ^
Supposedly the replay booth had the wrong feed. Comical.
October 25th, 2014 at 8:54 PM ^
But they were able to determine if the LSU runner fumbled the ball.
October 25th, 2014 at 9:04 PM ^
Were they watching the Simpsons instead?
October 25th, 2014 at 10:10 PM ^
EVERY SIMPSONS EVER!!!

Michigan football's problems:
1. Head coach
2. Athletic director
3. Player effort
4. Team morale
.
.
.
894. Hagerup's punting
895. Big Ten refs
October 25th, 2014 at 9:03 PM ^
This post has nothing to do with Michigan. It's about OSU-Penn State.
October 25th, 2014 at 9:08 PM ^
Michigan is in the Big Ten Conference in football, and this is a Michigan sports blog.
October 25th, 2014 at 9:28 PM ^
My point is that the original post was about a lousy call in the OSU-Penn State game. We don't need to use this space, then, to discuss how bad Michigan is. We have 32 other threads for that.
October 25th, 2014 at 9:09 PM ^
I agree, but would have to put the AD as the number one problem and the coach at number two.
October 25th, 2014 at 9:09 PM ^

October 25th, 2014 at 8:52 PM ^
The refs not giving UM that obvious TD late today and I'd say you've got a point. Sure, we ended up getting it but holy shit.
October 25th, 2014 at 8:58 PM ^
Which one? The time they blew the whistle or the time Canteen dove for the pylon? The whistle was dumb and everyone stopped playing, but Canteen had the ball outside of the pylon, ball should've been spotted about 1 foot outside of the endzone.
October 25th, 2014 at 9:04 PM ^
The "administrative error."
October 25th, 2014 at 9:07 PM ^
But I don't think you could say that it was "indisputable".
If Canteen touches the pylon, obviously it's a TD. Harmless lesson for him.
October 25th, 2014 at 10:32 PM ^
there was a play where ball was thrown to funchess on second down from about the ten. msu db obviously grabbed his hand before ball gets there forcing funchess to drop the ball.
October 25th, 2014 at 8:55 PM ^
Chances they are trying to push OSU into the playoffs?
October 25th, 2014 at 8:56 PM ^
Is fielding a competitive team. No soup for you.
October 25th, 2014 at 9:02 PM ^
Uh... That's only a rule if your team is involved in the game in which the call originating the complaint occurred. Pretty basic...
October 25th, 2014 at 8:56 PM ^
That's as bad as the ruling against Michigan in the Rutgers game. Officials on the field blowing calls at game speed happen and are understandable. The video reviews that are screwed up though, there's no excuse for that.
October 25th, 2014 at 10:13 PM ^
Nothing beats the on field call of that interception in the penn state game. I mean the ball bounced off turf into hollowell's (?) hands then bounced off turf again before he finally got control of it.
October 25th, 2014 at 9:10 PM ^
They sit up there completely invisible and make decisions in utmost secrecy (we don't even have any idea WHO actually is making these decisions) and we peons just accept it. No explanations necessary. I mean how about some freaking accountability? These guys are fools and completely incompetent. It's not brain surgery - how do you mess up an obvious call like this (or the Rutgers one) unless you're just completely incapable of being a replay official?
October 25th, 2014 at 10:55 PM ^
The Big Ten Replay refs are a group of incompetent, blind, football rules challenged morons.
October 25th, 2014 at 9:02 PM ^
One of the worst calls I've ever seen on review.
October 26th, 2014 at 9:20 AM ^
Was this worse than the Darboh incomplete pass? That one was awful, too. Where do they find these people?
October 25th, 2014 at 9:04 PM ^
The Michigan Wolverine's football program
October 25th, 2014 at 9:10 PM ^
Wrong feed? Sure, while the telecast has 3 angles that show a drop.
If the feed were wrong, WHAT INTERCEPTION DID THE BOOTH SEE TO DECIDE AN INT PROBABLY HAPPENED?
October 25th, 2014 at 10:15 PM ^
Well they needed proof it didn't happen. Didn't have that proof so call was to stay as called on field.
October 25th, 2014 at 9:14 PM ^
These refs are fucking stupid...playclock on OSU's field goal clearly expired too. It was at zero for a good two seconds!
October 25th, 2014 at 9:21 PM ^
rewound to see that one. You aren't kidding. At least 2 seconds!
October 25th, 2014 at 9:13 PM ^
the PI not called... on the other hand I'm not sure what difference it would have made
October 25th, 2014 at 9:14 PM ^
Was good a full 2 seconds after the play clock expired.Announcing teams 'expert ref" correctly put blame on back judge. How do they miss that?
October 25th, 2014 at 9:18 PM ^
I at least appreciate the "expert ref" in the booth for them saying that both of those calls were blown by the refs. Too often I think the guys will just give some non-answer or weird technicallity to cover for the refs, but that guy at least said the refs screwed up both of those calls.
Would be wonderful to see some actual consequences for the refs making terrible errors, but there is rarely if ever accountability, so it will continue.
October 25th, 2014 at 9:26 PM ^
Well Bosa just decapitated Hackenberg. That game should be fun.
October 25th, 2014 at 9:39 PM ^
that should have been an obvious personal foul 15 yarder. Refs? Nothing.
That's three atrociously bad calls that went in OSU's favor.
Hey refs, THEY DONT NEED YOUR HELP.
October 25th, 2014 at 9:28 PM ^
Must be the same refs from that Rutgers game.
October 25th, 2014 at 9:34 PM ^
The Big Ten needs OSU/MSU to both be one loss teams on 11/8. Not saying anything fishy is going on, but it opens up them up to discussing the possibility.
October 25th, 2014 at 9:41 PM ^
Give it rest people. OSU has somehow managed to do the impossible and get Freshman to play at a high level. My guess is that God himself must be a Buckeye fan because there is no other way that Freshman can be as effective as their's have turned out to be.
Hoke just needs two more years. When his 5th year seniors are in place WATCH OUT!
October 25th, 2014 at 10:13 PM ^
Only had to suffer for one year under Fickell before they got one of the best coaches in the game. Hell, I think every Buckeye fan would take Meyer over Tressel. Remember when we were laughing at Gene Smith? Can't get any worse than Dave Brandon...
October 25th, 2014 at 9:36 PM ^
Seriously, THEY HAVE REVIEW. On what planet is that an interception. This makes me so sad for so many reasons.
October 25th, 2014 at 9:37 PM ^
The BIG needs OSU to win tonight to improve the chances of getting a team in the playoffs, because if they lose and then beat MSU the BIG is virtually eliminated.
October 26th, 2014 at 12:19 AM ^
who cares?
October 25th, 2014 at 9:41 PM ^
What the hell was that OSU? 4 seconds left in the half on 4th down and you take a knee with 1 second left on the clock? They're lucky the clock operator didn't stop the clock like he should have and given PSU a shot.
October 25th, 2014 at 10:17 PM ^
We have dealt with this all year... its getting to a certain point now, very frustrated!
October 25th, 2014 at 10:28 PM ^
Fuck Penn State. Hope they get blown out every game 100-0.
October 25th, 2014 at 11:43 PM ^
I think I'll just enjoy the schadenfreude of whomever loses instead
October 25th, 2014 at 11:18 PM ^
At least we don't have the laughable PAC-12 crews that include glasses mcfuckface (which worked to our advantage in the 2012 sugar bowl) who retired last year. Also, we aren't the ACC with good old Ron Cherry..
