the beginning of the end for Izzo...
Sorry folks to have to make a topic, but couldn't let it slide...
Classless fucking Tom Izzo....
After seeing that crazy -7 MSU line, I decided to watch the MSU-Maryland game, all the while been thinking since Howard beat them last week.... first how Harbaugh essentially sent the football program and Mork away, and how Howard might be doing the same to Izzo, with the recruits coming in and such, and might finally help push him out....
So I'm watching the game .... and I can read lips for the most part....
And just before the 9:57 mark in first half, after a stoppage in play, Tillman is walking off court and Izzo approaches him and is caught on TV, screaming
"YOU'RE SO FUCKING STUPID!!" and then soon after the camera pans away.... anyone who DVRed it can see...its as clear as water... maybe this a regular thing for him.... I'd embed it if I could...but its there and you can see for yourself.
I wish a reporter would run with this, and get momentum started.... Tillman seems a good guy, and I did not like that, at all... maybe partly because Tillman wanted to play here and we had to pass (for Livers).
Izzo better hope that someone negatively recruiting him doesn't make a clip of it and distribute to future recruits.... these are 18-19 year olds and just didn't sit right.

Izzo treats his players like shit. That's not a new development.
February 15th, 2020 at 6:56 PM ^
That can't be. I have coworkers claiming that he is a saint beyond reproach and his players are like family.
Nobody has taken more bullets than poor old Tom nailed on the cross.
February 15th, 2020 at 11:56 PM ^
I have the same coworker(s).
?
February 15th, 2020 at 7:32 PM ^
Fuck John O'Neill.
February 15th, 2020 at 9:41 PM ^
249 more to go.
February 15th, 2020 at 7:42 PM ^
Aren't most coaches nuts? This is just the way it is.
February 16th, 2020 at 10:51 AM ^
Coaches are just teaching lessons and preparing players for the real world.
Except in the real world if you're a mgr or supervisor that treats your people that way you'd get fired and/or the company is getting sued as a hostile work environment.
February 16th, 2020 at 12:13 AM ^
Berates then and throws them under the bus to the point where they blindly support him.
Stockholm Syndrome
February 15th, 2020 at 7:00 PM ^
haha. you can find a thousand clips like that from izzo. it doesn't matter one bit.
February 15th, 2020 at 7:25 PM ^
Long story short, I ended up a few rows from Sparty when they played OU years ago. Izzo called Alan Anderson something that rhymes with “trucking wussy” as he came off the court during a timeout.
February 15th, 2020 at 9:55 PM ^
The FCC doesn't censor the internet... LOL!!!
February 19th, 2020 at 12:06 AM ^
Yet...
FIFY. :)
February 15th, 2020 at 10:56 PM ^
Ducking gussy?
February 16th, 2020 at 8:48 AM ^
No, "pucking hussy." He plays on the women's hockey team.
February 15th, 2020 at 7:01 PM ^
At least not stupid enough to spike the floor and get injured while doing it. Izzo is a douche, curses at his players and throws them under the bus during press conferences. I´ve said this many times before, I really do not know why kids still want to play for him.
February 15th, 2020 at 7:41 PM ^
$$$$. It’s well known Izzo runs a dirty program but has it down to a science to have his assistants do his dirty work . Van Gessell from Rockford Construction has offered numerous recruits money and fur coats for their moms I have on good authority
February 15th, 2020 at 8:08 PM ^
I am sure Joel Ferguson has a big part in it.
February 15th, 2020 at 9:58 PM ^
Ferguson may well be providing some money, but he's giving it to a 3rd party to distribute. He's too fucking stoopid to do it himself without getting caught.
February 16th, 2020 at 8:17 AM ^
no it's not.
February 15th, 2020 at 8:11 PM ^
Stockholm syndrome.
he beats them down, makes them feel like crap and then pats them on the butt and tells them how much he loves them.
But, you are right. Why play for someone like that when you have a guy like Juwan saying “You trust me and I’ll trust you.”
February 15th, 2020 at 7:02 PM ^
IIRC didn't Izzo meet a player half court last season and yell at him and everyone got really upset and them moved on after a few hours. Nothing will come of this. He will be asked and he will say he really wants to win and loves the kid.
February 15th, 2020 at 7:02 PM ^
These posts are so dumb. I don't like Izzo or MSU but the way he coaches his players is fine. He is an old school hard ass on them and that's okay. It's his style. His guys love playing for him. The right player will either be molded into a good player or they will crumble. Some players can't handle the tough love. Thank God John's didn't go there because he would be so broken, he would be a completely useless basketball player. For his sake, I'm glad he didn't go there
February 15th, 2020 at 7:08 PM ^
Ok, Tom...
February 15th, 2020 at 7:20 PM ^
How acceptable behavior is depends on the era. Nobody had issues with Knight and Woody in their days, but I think we can all agree they wouldn't last more than a few seasons before being booted. Izzo and Saban are holdovers from that style, but they're being outclassed and pushed out by Beilein, Dabo, Howard, Jay Wright, and all the other successful coaches who treat players respectfully. I think it's a great change and can't wait for those out of touch head cases to move on
February 15th, 2020 at 9:38 PM ^
Matt Painter, too.
February 16th, 2020 at 1:42 AM ^
Saban is being pushed out by Beilein? There is a line in aliens from Bill paxton paraphrasing-
“i dont know if you are keeping up with current events but we are getting our asses beat out there.”
I feel like its the other way around.
February 16th, 2020 at 8:07 AM ^
I don't know if we are getting our asses beat out there, but we are keeping up with current events.
February 15th, 2020 at 7:24 PM ^
Hell, he cussed Johns out for not going there. God help the server who has to tell him they're out of fries.
February 15th, 2020 at 7:35 PM ^
Odds are, it will be a former player of his.
February 15th, 2020 at 8:11 PM ^
Underrated
February 15th, 2020 at 10:00 PM ^
Just imagine having to tell him that you can't buy men's dress shoes in a child's size 7.
February 15th, 2020 at 7:29 PM ^
It’s a dumb post only because Izzo isn’t going anywhere. The very definition of delusions of grandeur.
February 15th, 2020 at 7:35 PM ^
I realize I don’t have the full context here, but my first reaction to this is that I’d punch Izzo in the face for talking to me like that, and wouldn’t mind if my sons did too. Tough love my ass.
February 15th, 2020 at 7:49 PM ^
Agree 100%. We have better things to make fun of. By the way Michigan State now has the lead with six and a half minutes left. The timing is terrible on this thread. And as we know timing is everything.
February 15th, 2020 at 8:06 PM ^
Well here is some timing for you, FYS blows game and loses 67-60!
Looks like Maryland should have been -7, haha.
February 15th, 2020 at 9:40 PM ^
+1 for FYS reference.
Classic homecourt meltdown for Whizzo ???
February 15th, 2020 at 9:33 PM ^
You mean the way Aaron Henry is broken?
February 15th, 2020 at 7:05 PM ^
Stockholm syndrome.
February 15th, 2020 at 7:07 PM ^
Whether you think Izzo’s coaching style is reprehensible or just old-school tough is a matter of opinion, but construing whatever he said to Tillman as somehow indicating “the beginning of the end” for Izzo is a gigantic reach.
February 15th, 2020 at 9:42 PM ^
I'm sorry, but it's not 1980. It's 2020. There is no justification for treating anyone like that. It is possible to coach hard and treat people like human beings.
February 16th, 2020 at 12:26 AM ^
This Tillman curse wasn't the sole reason but as I mentioned...Howard just beat him good, and has some stellar recruits coming in, and they're about to lose their best players. This time it seems we eclipse them for good and he leaves. Maybe wishful thinking, but let's look back at this period to see if it comes true.
February 15th, 2020 at 7:10 PM ^
I saw the same thing. Rewound it like five times to make sure, that is exactly what he said. I just don’t understand how someone would want to play for a man who treats them that way. Can he really be that great behind the scenes if he’s that way during games?
February 15th, 2020 at 7:11 PM ^
Any one notice that they have giant heads of past players they waive around including accused rapist Cleaves? Seems like a bad idea but they honored him at center court recently so I guess it does not matter. Even if he it’s innocent it seems like a really tone deaf thing given their recent past.
February 15th, 2020 at 7:20 PM ^
Cleaves may have walked out of the courtroom a free man but anybody that’s seen that video knows he’s not innocent. It’s disgusting that anyone could see that video and let the guy walk. I wish I could say that I’m surprised that MSU still seems to embrace him but they’ve proven what their priorities are over and over again.
February 16th, 2020 at 8:52 AM ^
Because he chased down a woman naked in a parking lot? Who hasn't done that? /s
She admits on stand that she never told him "no", & she has forgotten significant sections of what actually happened. If you think that video is evidence of rape, I don't know what to tell you...
February 15th, 2020 at 7:11 PM ^
Izzo is definitely feeling the pressure because:
1. Juwan Howard evened the season series.
2a. Howard is outrecruiting Izzo (and the rest of the conference).
2b. Howard is making inroads with future in-state prospects. These prospects are especially important because they are zero sum recruits.
3. Izzo's preseason #1 team has greatly underachieved. If Sparty loses tonight (currently trailing by 8 at the half), Maryland is the clear frontrunner to win the Big Ten Regular Season Championship.
4. Next year's Sparty team will sorely miss senior Cassius Winston and possibly Xavier Tillman (if he leaves).
5. We will likely be top 3-5 preseason in 2020-21 and that will eat away at Izzo. If the much younger Howard is able to assert Michigan's dominance over the state, it's curtains for Izzo who will be 66.
February 15th, 2020 at 7:13 PM ^
People were tripping over themselves to defend him during the tournament last year after he got in the face of one of his players. Staee fans worship him. Some media rightful ripped him last year but most make excuses and defended him.
edit: Maryland will choke this game away. Book it.
February 15th, 2020 at 9:47 PM ^
Ummm...did Maryland choke?
February 15th, 2020 at 11:20 PM ^
You're about 10% on your guarantees.
February 15th, 2020 at 7:13 PM ^
Izzo style of coaching is archaic, Juwan is the future. Rockabye baby!!!
