The problem with not picking Fl. State is it totally sends the wrong message and reeks of dishonesty. Football is a team sport and to not include a team because one person got hurt is stupid. Albeit the player who is hurt is the QB, there are dozens of other players who contributed and sacrificed for those wins.

A QB can't win games alone. He needs 10 more offensive players, 11 on defense, a special teams unit and a coaching staff, who are all outstanding, to go undefeated. Actually, Fl. State managed to win a few games without their starting QB. Therefore, you can't negate what everyone else contributed, for one man's misfortune. Those kids can't change who they play or don't play.  They have 3 quality wins and are a blue-blood program from a power 5 conference. Most importantly, they've eaten everything on their plate, every time and they have yet to lose to anyone.

As much as I'd love to play them in a 1 vs. 4 matchup, they technically should be a 3 and we get Texas, which is far scarier because Texas has multiple weapons and can beat you in a lot of ways, much like us. This narrative of excluding the SEC would be wrong because they're conference is so great, is B.S. Everyone agreed to play by the same metrics. They lost games and the other's haven't, Period!!!! Texas soundly beat Bama in Tuscaloosa and Bama beat Georgia in Atlanta. Texas should edge out both (Transitive Property), for the college educated dummies arguing otherwise. I have cheese to go with their wine.

I completely agree with this, all the way down at least through #8.

Maybe with a 12-team playoff next year it's a little more palatable to drop FSU out of the top 4, but not this year.

Actually the entire Top25 looks to be slotted pretty fair with the exception of 25 Tenn.

That spot shoulda went to Troy (11-2 with 10 straight W's)

or Miami (ntm 11-2 whos 2 losses were to Miami ytm and the team they just beat for the MAC championship)

And I had the top 4 picked exactly as this is in post last night.  Yes these ARE the 4 teams and it should be slotted this way.

Why isn't anyone talking about Ohio State? Did they see Ryan dancing with the troops blowing his whistle? Seems like at least one person with a voice would suggest Ohio State has a chance

The AP certainly got it right. The CFP Committee better follow suit and perhaps make some last minute changes. That means NO SEC team(s) get in this year.

This is correct.  Be a major slight to all of the non-SEC conferences if the committee passes on FSU.  EVERY OTHER conference has sat our multiple years; SEC is down this year and they get to sit.

ESPN's CFP show put up an image with the title being Michigan beats TCU 26-0 last night. TCU? Really? Now bloviating that Alabama should be in front of FSU. The fix is in. Man, what garbage.

ESPN desperately wants SEC; surprised that they even allowed the contrary view to be put out there.  He's right -- games played matter and this is not a beauty contest.

All teams have on days, off-days, some luck, and at times, match-up problems where style of play is a big advantage or disadvantage.

Last nights rant was on TCU being in last year and getting annihilated by GA - and completely glossed over a missed FG by OSU was what got them into the NC game.

Everyone is dismissing FSU, and overlooking completely Alabama's several incredibly close calls including a 4th & 31 miracle last week to a bad Auburn team.

Yes, the SEC has had some great teams - no question, but that should not automatically translate into the discussion that it equates to every single year due to history.  There is also plenty of evidence that the SEC has been the pinnacle of "innovative" recruiting practices and pay to play above and beyond any conference forever.  "NIL" and pay to play has always been a way of life there forever, not to mention academically questionable practices, over-signing and running off players, etc - they just have done a great job of not getting caught - sign stealing is amateur hour compared to HOW they have maintained that level of players forever.

The SEC has always viewed football as a professional sport - hence they stock-pool talent - once GA brought Smart in as a head coach and Richt (who didn't participate - at least not anywhere near that level) and now they are stacking talent maybe even better than Alabama until NIL.
