And, then there were six (undefeated teams) - who might fall when?

Another interesting weekend of watching football.  And, the ranks of the undefeated teams has slimmed from nine to six.   This is what's in store in the near future.

Georgia (1) - Florida, Tennessee (3) @ Mississippi State, @ Kentucky (19), and Georgia Tech.

Bucks (2) - @ Penn State (13), @ Northwestern, Indiana, @ Maryland, and Michigan (4)

Tennessee (3) - Kentucky (19), @ Georgia (1), Missouri, @ South Carolina (25), and @ Vandy.

Michigan (4) - Spartans, @ Rutgers, Nebraska, Illinois, and @ the Shoe (2).

Clemson (5) - bye this week,  @ ND, Louisville, Miami (FL), and South Carolina (25).

TCU (7) - @ West Virginia, Texas Tech, @ Texas, @ Baylor, and Iowa State.

And, just for fun, two additional one loss teams:

Alabama (6) - bye this week, @ LSU (18), @ Ole Miss (15), Austin Peay, and Auburn.

Oregon (8) - @ Cal, @ Colorado, Washington, Utah (14), and @ Oregon State.

Kentucky and/or South Carolina could be wonderful spoilers - to quote the Beach Boys, "Wouldn't it be nice" if the they could find wins against Georgia, Tennessee, and/or Clemson.

Perhaps the arctic north temperatures of South Bend will cool off a luke-warm Clemson when they play the Irish on November 5th.

Brian Kelly might have an increased number of fans when Bama comes to town.

TCU won't face a currently ranked team until the Big 12 CCG.

What do you think?  Will any given team fall in a specific game?   What are you looking forward to watching?

November 5th will be an interesting Saturday of football.  Tennessee @ Georgia, Bama @ LSU, and Clemson @ ND.

Albert Karschnia and the staff have been trying to get Jadyn Davis to commit for a while, haven't they? Do you have reason to believe this is the weekend that seals the deal? Thanks Comrade GOJG

P.S. The top 2023 recruits from St. Frances are:

  • Dashawn Womack (Natl #49; #4 DL; committed to LSU)
  • Sam Greene (Natl #524; #60 DL; committed to USC)
  • Isaiah Neal (Natl #564; #63 DL; committed to Pitt)
  • Durell Robinson (Natl #661; #44 RB; committed to BC)

The top 2024 recruits from St. Frances are:

  • Michael Van Buren (Natl #85; #8 QB; uncommitted)
  • Ify Obidegwu (Natl #169; #17 CB; uncommitted)
  • Simeon Coleman (Natl #504, #34 LB; uncommitted)

Old School, I agree about Illinois.  They have a very solid RB, DeVito gives them more at QB than they've had in a while, and their D has been playing well.

I am wondering if the Illinois game will wind up being at night.

These are the November 19th matchups for the currently ranked teams:

Georgia (1) @ Kentucky (19)

Tennessee (3) @ South Carolina (25)

Illinois (17) @ Michigan (4)

Utah (14) @ Oregon (8)

USC (10) @ UCLA (12)

Syracuse (16) @ Wake Forest (10)

Oh, and let's not forget that Alabama (6) hosts Austin Peay that weekend too...

P.S. - the ranking of USC and Wake Forest is accurate, they are tied for 10th in the AP Poll.

My wish as I will be present, is that Mississippi State derails Georgia but this is likely a pipe dream.

My longshot would be LSU over Bama. I think LSU has a puncher's chance to hand Bama their second loss. Death Valley is a tough place to play and Bama's pass defense has been softer than usual. Boutte is a threat to score often.

TCU has not dominated their competition. I think they lose an away game at Texas or Baylor.

My best guess is that Clemson runs the less-than-impressive table, as do the Tennessee-Georgia winner and the winner of The Game. This would leave several one-loss teams vying for the last playoff spot.

I'd feel similarly gross. To help deal with that feeling, I'm going to ignore it entirely then go all in Michigan being undefeated after stomping osu and then whomever gets barfed out of the west.  An undefeated Michigan team that wraps up the season beating osu in Columbus won't get left out of the playoffs no matter what Clemson (or, nd, by extension) has done.

If this is sarcasm it should not be. Hamstrings can be season ending and if anyone on that staff has a sliver of a conscience regrading this young man's future he should be shut down for the year. A slight limp coming off of more than a month for a hamstring injury is likely a complete re-injury.

Well they have in several instances, but they've also played some really, really bad teams. They haven't beaten anyone who is currently ranked.

I'll be curious to see how they play this weekend. PSU's defense actually matches up fairly well with OSU. Not to the point where I'd say PSU's defense has an advantage, but they do have really good corners who can compete with OSU's receivers. And it'll be interesting to see how OSU handles its first truly hostile road environment this year.

I'd still peg OSU to win, but it could be a game for a little while.
