2012 Season Record Prediction Thread

Submitted by hart20 on

As the name would suggest, this thread is for your season record predictions for 2012. Feel free to predict the record for other teams besides Michigan.

My predictions:

Michigan 11-1

Notre Dame 6-6 (or 7-5, I haven't decided yet)

MSU 8-4

Ohio 9-3

Yeah, I'll drink that Kool-Aid.

Michigan 10-2 (Beat Wiscy in B1G CC)

MSU: 9-3 (Lose to Wiscy, us and someone else, maybe Neb)

ND: 7-5 (being charitable, 6-6 equally likely)

Ohio: 8-4 (tougher transition than thought by the overly-exuberant media--MSU, Neb, Wiscy and us. 7-5 definitely possible)

Michigan 10-2 with losses to Bama and Nebraska.

MSU 8-4 with losses to Notre Dame, Ohio, Michigan, and Wisconsin.

Notre Dame 7-5 with losses to Purdue, Michigan, Stanford, Oklahoma, and USC.

Ohio - 10-2 with losses to Nebraska and Michigan.

Mich- 9-3 - Too many ?'s on our Dline and WR to expect much more.

ND- 7-5 - I dont think Alabama or LSU would go any better than 10-2 with that schedule, and they are by no means Bams or LSU.

MSU-9-3 Good D, they will lose to us finally as well as one other good team and one standard sparty blown game.

OSU- 9-3- Elite defense, around average offense.  They are some speed at WR and RB to be serious B1G contenders (HA couldn't be even if they were good)

Not sure how possible it is that UM, MSU, ans OSU all have the same record, I just see them as ending that way.

I think Denard somehow manages another miracle to pull off the upset against Alabama and we ride the momentum for a while.

Then later in the season we come back to reality with a tough road loss at Nebraska and then a mildly shocking upset loss to the Golden Gophers that will leave M fans nostalgic for the comfy confines of the Metrodome.  This reminds me of some of the seasons of yore when the first loss always seemed to be followed by a second the next week while we were still in some kind of shock.

Back to the Citrus bowl where we manage to stuff an SEC team and then we are left wondering what might have been if only for those that stupid loss (and conveniently forgetting that we got some rather lucky breaks in the Alabama & Illinois wins.)

Yep, sounds about right to me.

...I'm in the West Indies of course I'm high.  And I'm tired of all the boring predictions so I ask Jah what he think:  Kill's Gophers are gonna surprise a few teams this year.

Let's hope it's not us.

What have they done over the last three years? I'll take our dilithium-powered Senoir QB over anything they put on the field.

This is the Way I see it.

MIchigan 10-2 losses to Nebraska and Ohio

MSU 9-3

ND 6-6

Ohio 9-3

BIG Champ Michigan in a close game over Purdue (Yes,That Purdue, I think that  Bielma's QB shenanagins backfire on him this year).

We will go 10-2.  Bama is the only team on our schedule that is better than we are, but since even the best teams don't win every game they should, I always move one back to the center on any attempt to make game-by-game predictions.

vAlabama - Bama will be too strong to roll. 0-1

Air Force - After a shaky first quarter, the rest of the game will satisfy. 1-1

UMass - Shut out first half, third and fourth string second half. 2-1

@Notre Dame - Four in a row. BK loses his third to Michigan. His head turns colors nobody could possibly predict. 3-1

@Purdue - Similar to our NW game last year. Second half belongs to UM. 4-1

Illinois - Thoroughly rout a fledgling Illinois squad in Ann Arbor. 5-1

Michigan State - MSU is not leaving Ann Arbor with a win this year. 6-1, UM back in the top 10

@Nebraska - A nailbiter against another 6-1 Nebraska team. Toss up on the last drive or long field goal for the win. If the Huskers have improved significantly from last year, we won't win this game in Lincoln. 6-2

@Minnesota - Minnesota gets a few points on the board this time. 7-2

Northwestern - Blue > Purple. 8-2

Iowa - By this time, Iowa will be using their waterboys as RBs. Beat them without controversy at home. 9-2

@Mercy College of Northwest Ohio - Urban doesn't save you this year. Sorry Bucks. If we win, we hope Nebraska loses so we can make the title game. 10-2

IF Nebraska doesn't take the division:
Big Ten Champ v. Wisconsin - Win. Hoke delivers. Free Domino's pizza. 11-2

Rose Bowl v. USC - Loss. 11-3

Rose Bowl v. Oregon - Loss. 11-3

Rose Bowl v. Stanford or other - Win. 12-2

Losses to Nebraska and a bowl opponent (Oregon in the Rose, probably).  Might get robbed by getting excluded from championship game (USC vs. one-loss Alabama)

'Bama is very tough, and the only team we will face that has more talent, but I have faith. I do not understand all the love for Nebraska & ND! Is this the Big Red that lost its best players off of an average defense? That has a lame passing attack? I don't think they are a pushover, but all these Michigan fans predicting a loss to them ...? And ND? Will their defense be improved? I know those are road games, but I am just not seeing it. Little Bro will be better than both. And stop dissing our D line! Thisismichiganfergodsakes and our line will be fine! Look for BWC to have his own signature picture, a-la Alan Branch, leaving some QB prone and broken. I know the schedule is difficult. Good teams. Tough road games. But if this were 10 years ago we would expect to win! Go Blue!!!!

I have two predictions, both of which hinge on the Alabama game.

Win the Alabama game: 11-1. The team will be riding a ridiculously high wave of momentum if they pull this off. Even if we beat Alabama, I do think we will trip up somewhere, maybe Nebraska or (sigh) Ohio. But even at 1 loss, as long as there aren't two other undefeated teams, we will be in the national title hunt. A victory over Alabama sees to that.

Lose the Alabama game: 8-4. This is the more likely scenario in my opinion, but I hope and pray that Michigan will prove me wrong. I think the other three losses will be to Nebraska, either MSU/Ohio, and one game that Michigan shouldn't lose but does, like Air Force or Purdue. That triple option is tricky, especially if you're still suffering a hangover from Alabama.

He has already time traveled back to August from the future and told us the record will be 12-2......The rest of us mere mortals are wasting our time!

Nebraska is not that good! I don't understand why everyone is thinking UM will lose to them denard>Martinez fitz is almost better than rex. UM defense> Nebraska defense

I agree that Nebraska is not that good. However, the game is in Lincoln and at night. Those two factors will be enough for the Cornshuckers to eek out a win over a better UM team. UNL wins 28-24.

Having said all that, of the four losses I have predicted for UM in 2012 (Bama, ND, UNL and OSU), I think the Nebraska game is the one that might actually swing in UM's favor leaving UM with only three losses instead of four.

10-4

Wiscy and Sparty disappoint vs. expectations, Purdue and Illinois surprise.  Ohio is far and away the best team we face in the conference, and (shudders) we may be the only ones that beat them

After a close loss to Alabama to open the season we run the table and face an udefeated (one of only two left at the time the other being Alabama) Wisconsin team in the B1G championship game where we win by 2+ touchdowns

Rematch win vs Alabama in the MNC game

Losses to Bama, ND, NE, and OSU

The Michigan State Staters go 10-2, win the division, beat Wisky for B10 championship, MSU fans become even more insufferable; MSU gets snot pounded out of them by PAC12 champs.

UM beats the hell out of somebody in a Holiday Bowl-level game.

Logan88

So, are you predicting a non-conference loss for Sparty?

If MSU went 10-2 with two losses in conference (including that loss to UM that you are apparently predicting) then UM would win the division due to the head-to-head tiebreaker.

Am I reading "way" too between the lines when I notice that most final score predictions by "experts" have Meechigan scoring more points than Bama allowed in any game last year? (24ish). Also the only team to break 20 on Bama was a dual threat QB FCS team, Georgia Southern. Just sayin'
