2022 big man Yohan Traore will take an official visit to Michigan this weekend, per @recruitsnews.

Consensus 5* and number 10 overall per 247 composite.

Long way to go but getting on campus is always the first step!

Of course the weather has been awesome and now is when it's going to turn right before a kid who many think wants to play in the south.

Sucks he wasn't here for the Washington night game weekend.

Loved it as a kid, growing up in Bloomfield/Birmingham, when there was a torrential downpour in late summer.... my backyard had an offshoot of the Rouge River, and the entire backyard became the river itself.... we would try to use something as a canoe, and sail down it through the backyards.... parents gave up yelling at us because it was so much fun. But had to watch out for the snapping turtles.

I'm pretty sure that weather impacts more than just the basketball season.  You still have to (allegedly) walk to class, park your car.....things like that.  And it's nice to see the sun between November and April.  Weather can matter.

That being said, I don't think that this week's rain will have much of an impact.  I remember that Mitch McGary loved his visit during a monsoon at a football game.

Otherwise: Traore would be the crown jewel of this class and continue the upward trajectory of Michigan basketball. If next year Michigan has Diabate, Tschetter, Reed and Traore on the roster to man the 4 & 5 along with all the skill, athleticism and shooting at 2 and 3 and the playmaking at the 1...this will be a most dynamic team.

Something tells me that having a big like Juwan who can look these taller recruits straight in the eye holds some advantages.

Looking back, Juwan securing Franz Wagner was huge. After Coach Beilein left it wasn’t a foregone conclusion that Franz would be in AA. Since then Juwan has been kicking ass on the recruiting trail and that will continue throughout his tenure.

Someone (EJ Holland maybe?) said he might be eligible for the NBA draft this year. This is going to be an especially interesting one to watch this year.

I'm stunned at how well Juwan and Co. have recruited - hopefully they can stay in the Top 10 of rankings each year. Then again, JB (John Beilein, NTJB) did as much with less, and Juwan has shown he's an elite coach (and has an elite staff).

If Traore does make it on campus, that is definitely great news.

No guarantee of anything, however, for a kid that probably doesn't know a lot about US CBB, getting him on campus is a big step.

I am sure that he knows the Dukes/Kentucky/UNC of the world, but Michigan's profile, historically, has not been as high.

Gotta get Moussa to show him around campus

crossing my fingers as this would be a huge add to the program
