Michigan has landed a commit from the top 2017 QB on their board, Dylan McCaffrey (Yes That McCaffrey). McCaffrey is the son of Ed and brother of Christian; he's 45th on the 247 composite, and the #2 pro-style QB in the country behind Clemson commit Hunter Johnston.
In McCaffrey, Michigan gets a 6'5" pocket passer with huge upside and excellent bloodlines; his early commit will hopefully allow him to recruit other gentlemen into the class. Michigan may still pursue a second quarterback in the class. If they do so he's likely to be a player like Gentry or Viramontes who could play another position if QB doesn't work out. More likely is that Michigan stands pat with McCaffrey and Peters in back to back classes.

I'm pretty sure Dylan will not switch positions. Only way Dylan doesn't come here is if we win the title and Harbaugh leaves to coach Bayside High.

To imply that Harbaugh would lose sleep over the loss of a recruit would be to imply that he sleeps and therefore he has sleep to lose. I think we all know that this isn't the case.

This a smart, elite QB prospect with NFL bloodlines who wants to play for the best QB developer in football and run a pro style offense. It's safe to feel good about this committment over, say, a DE, WR, or OT prospect from SEC country or California.

How fast is he? I know he's not his brother, but speed runs in the family. If this guy can even manage a 5.0 40, he can be a moderate read-option threat, which helps out the playbook quite a bit. Adds some depth to the attack, the way Rudock's sly running did.
