Flowchart of Michigan Rivalries
Last night a Wisconsin fan sitting near us informed me that we are big football rivals. I tried to explain that this makes sense since we have so many rivals it’s hard to keep them all straight. Maybe a chart would help?
Click for full-size. I have nothing else to add. #content!

My favorite feature of this is that the "Ever burn down your stadium?" decision branch has only one answer: yes.
February 17th, 2017 at 1:14 PM ^
Well, yeah, all the other schools are too dumb to burn down their OWN stadiums.

In Chicago's defense, they waited until AFTER they got rid of their football program to build the first nuclear reactor under their football stadium.

I used to park right next to that site for like 3 years running....

Is a paleontologist I have dug for during vacation. Our jacketed field specimens were housed in the Fermi Building at UC along with some of the equipment used to make Fermi's pile and I have spent time there.
The equipment, and probably me now, is somewhat radioactive I have been informed. Next time you need a chest x-ray please do call on me, you can just hold the film and I will stand behind you for a few seconds. Voila.

that, even though Chicago stopped playing Football long before I was born, I kinda wish they were still in the Big 10? Like, I almost feel nostalgia for it.

I would definitly attend a charity event that involved reenactments of Michigan-Chicago games pre-1905.
February 17th, 2017 at 3:08 PM ^
With the "flying wedge" legal?
That play literally got people killed.
February 17th, 2017 at 3:41 PM ^
So did Gettysburg and there's reenactments for that

I'm with you. I'd love to give PSU, Rutgers and Maryland the boot and add Chciago to get an even number.

despite having an almost 10 year down period in football, and not really having any horrendous scandals, Michigan still is the team that most other fan bases root against in the BIG. Livin' rent free in so many minds, you know we are doing something right.
February 17th, 2017 at 2:01 PM ^
We forget so soon. Who could repress the horror the 2010 team went through having to strech for 20 extra minutes. Do NOT short-change their struggle.
February 17th, 2017 at 2:26 PM ^
it was the horrible crime of having it supervised by some training staff (later made legal) for that 20 minutes that really made it bad. Sorry, I tried to block out that black mark on the program.

I think back to the brilliant BHGP piece comparing B1G teams to cars in which we are the BMW 760Li and they say nice things like you have to respect the hell out of us.
And then OSU is an Aston Martin that runs on the blood of puppies.
I also love that the list was in ascending order of value and MSU was least valuable as a hot wheels with streamers. Let's just pretend the last 8 or so years didn't happen and this is right on!
PSU: yikes. Going back to read things about Paterno before the falling out is...sigh.
February 17th, 2017 at 1:26 PM ^
Back on the schedule? We could let them play with 12 and allow their receivers a running start to make it more interesting, but maybe give them a 4th down. Could be like one of those boxer vs wrestler matches from the 80s

As a McGill alum, I feel included by this. Thank you.
Think it's missing Duke basketball though.

And if I may say, chicken dance. Moreover ND reposes in South Bend, the stereotypical and swank college town that it isn't unless one weekly patronizes Chucky Cheese, their haute cuisine and cultural anchor.

My neighbor went to Illinois and he still talks about losing on Higgins' shot in the 1989 Final Four. I find this amusing.

Won't be surprised if this spreads around the country, with versions centered around other schools. You, sir, are both creative and clever.

Didn't this blog miss an opportunity once before when a graphic made its way around the country but the logo wasn't on it?

to do. I have trouble comprehending the creativity required for someone being able to do this in less time than that! The, "Does soccer count?" line was genius. Bravo!

This is the most awesome thing I have seen in a while. At least since I walked into Giselle's dressing room "by mistake" and Tom was about to kill me before I said "Go Blue!" and he let me slink away.

I may have found a place to shove in USC football on this flow chart and, as somene mentioned before, Duke basketball but other than that

While attending a M-W game in Madison around the age of 10, I saw my first "Muck Fichigan" t-shirt. So in that sense, Wisconsin is one of our rivals because they claim to be, a la Illinois.
Silly badgers.

except they'd be the host team for the B1G MBB tourney!
