Csont'e York Suspended Indefinitely
Sophomore wide receiver in some variety of trouble:
“Csont’e York is suspended indefinitely for failing to meet team standards and will not report for fall camp. We demand that every person in our program represent the University of Michigan and the Michigan football program the right way on and off the field. When people fall short of that, there are consequences.”
The reason:
Ann Arbor police confirm just-suspended U-M wide receiver Csont'e York is the subject of a police investigation.

Rumor going around the message boards is that there was a fight of some variety in which a hockey player got hurt—shades of Glenn Winston. But we'll let the legal system play out before making any judgments.
IIRC "not reporting for fall camp" may mean that he's just not going to be a part of the team until a week before the season. The NCAA has a roster limit of 105 for fall camp and then expands that; in the past the occasional player was left off the fall camp roster in favor of a walk-on and that boded very unwell for his future.
York's case is obviously more about discipline than talent. If he does miss the entirety of fall any shot he had at significant playing time is out the door with Funchess, Canteen, Darboh, and Chesson already ahead of him. Even if that suspension gets lifted before the first gameweek he's put himself behind the eight ball in a situation where Michigan has lots of options.
Obviously this should not affect the season unless there's a tidal wave of injuries.
the addition of Joe Hewlett to the roster.

That roster posted today has 109 players on it, including York and Hewlett. The idea might be right, but I think its merely pure coincidence.

Can't football and hockey players in Michigan just get along man?
I do believe this is the 4th football-hockey incident in the last 5 years or so in Michigan (2 each for Michigan and MSU)
What the hell goes down to spark these incidents between hockey/football players?

I've always assumed it was arguments about what constitutes a "big sport" in the US gone horribly awry.
Lloyd was quoting John.
Obviously I'm just another message board guy, but this all went down at Skeeps weekend after 4th of July
Yet another confirmation of ye olde campus adage, "Friends don't let friends go to Skeeps."

Yes, nothing unseemly ever occurs at Rick's....this reminds me of the classic Simpsons line, "nobody who speaks German could be an evil man".

You're aware that essentially the entire football team is there on Tuesday and Saturday nights in the fall right? Novak, Stu, Nik, Glenn, Mitch, Spike, etc. were/are all regular attendees as well.

IMO Skeeps would be improved if it only served Coors Light in pitchers.
that's an improvement? life is too short to drink major domestics son.
Madonna worked at the pizza shop inside it once upon a time. Dooley's got shut down for repeatedly getting caught serving minors.
one of the first people hired by Scorekeepers, worked as a cook. Would guess it opened in 1994? 93? Anyway, I graduated in Dec 1994 and it was already open for a couple of years by then for sure.
OK, so I guess I meant "wasn't that called Dooley's way back when I was in school"?!
thanks for the accurate timeline!
Griese was a true freshman 93-94 and as I recall his incident happened the spring or summer of 94 going into his sophomore year. His altercation did take place at Scorekeepers.

i think he also had an altercation at mitch's.

Scorekeepers used to be Dooleys of days past. It was already Scorekeepers though when Griese got into his little fracas back in the day....and it a chair he threw through the window, not a beer pitcher.

Dooley's had a nice happy hour ...dime hot dogs and $1 beers out of a tall frosted mug. This was before the age of micro brews. Watched many away games there. Football players would frequent after home games in the mid-80s. Watching women react when Harbaugh walked in was amazing.
For the old farts (like me), once upon a time it was Dooley's.
Ten cent beer nights on the weekdays!
I remember that. It was hard to get up in the morning to head to high school.
I remember drinking a few Bahama mama's at dooleys in the 80's. There were a few fights back then also.

I thought it was one day a week. Mondays maybe?
Yes, that was it. "Dime Night". it was on one of the off-nights like Monday or Tuesday or Wednesday.
I don't remember exactly, because ten cent beers.
