Because McFarlin's a tool...But a funny tool ;)
This post I agree with more than the Mike Hart one. I think Mario was a steal where he was drafted, and the Giants will be pleased with their choice. I see this year as a break out year for him.
well he had a history of marijuana and didn't score to high on the wonderlic, but I don't think that could have had anything to do with it.
I believe the bigger problem was that he lied about it at first, right?
football season needs to start
Amen to that, brother...
Still a rumor but, Braylon to the Giants???? Toomer, Mario Cashmere Manningham...really?
TheGiants owner is a Michigan alum and he's living out his Michigan AD fantasy camp.
Are you sure? I know this isn't the best place to go, but Wikipedia says the two owners are John Mara and Steve Tisch. Neither one went to Michigan, although John Mara went to a rival HS of mine.

Steve Tisch's dad was Bob Tisch who was a 1948 BA from Michigan. Tisch hall (connected to Angell hall) is named after him.

Also, one of his relatives (nephew?) is Alan Tisch, who is currently a junior at U-M.
He had the above mentioned marijuana issues and I also belive he ran a terrible forty time at the combine...like a 4.6 or something like that. He later mentioned that he didn't prepare or wasn't training hard, something to that nature. He had and still has 1st round potential however because of the issues above he slipped. I would agree that the Giants definitely got a steal.
Didn't he run like a 4.4 or something along those lines at the pro day?
Mario is way too fast to run a 4.6 in the first place. He improved his 40 time by a nice bit, but that underscores part of the problem with Mario - he doesn't work particularly hard (in my opinion).
That kind of stuff doesn't go over so well in the NFL.

Mario ran a 4.67 at the combine and did not do well on the wonderlick. He was expected to be a late first rounder or early 2nd rounder at the latest until he got caught in the lie about the drugs. On his pro day he ran a 4.38 if I remember right, Hart refused to run again, probably because he knew that he would not do any better than the 4.7 40 that he ran at the combine.

I don't remember him having particularly good hands or being a great route runner. don't get me wrong, mario made a lot of plays when he was into the game, but I never felt he'd be much of a threat at the next level.
Why did Jake Long get drafted so late?
Because he had the itis
I heard it was because ESPN foolishly listed him as a WR and the Lions were barred from taking him with their first pick by the league.
As a Giants fan we really need Mario to step up this year. Plax is is gone and so is Toomer. The Browns are smoking crack thinking we'll give them Mathias Kiwanuka and our #1 for Edwards. If we don't make a move we'll have Mario, Steve Smith, Hixon, Sinorice Moss(bust) and whoever we get in the 1st round. Not enough.
I think this requires a (not that steve smith) or NTSS. Just because it makes me laugh...every time.
