Michigan Coach Search Hating God is effing with us big time on this shit..... we seriously need to figure out what we did to piss Michigan _____ Hating God off and get him to GTFO of Ann Arbor!

Harbaugh looks like a young Lloyd Carr in that banner up there. Very telling...

has Ross become Don Corleone?
January 6th, 2011 at 11:20 PM ^
Yes. It is good to friends in the NFL. It is better to have owner friends in the NFL who have building on campus named after them . . . . .

"Mr. Corleone never asks a second favor once he's refused the first, understood? "

Now THAT"S a slap in the face. Not getting our guy is bad enough. Not getting him and Stanford does? That's shameful. Only way we should lose a guy to Stanford ever, is if he's the next Einstein.
January 6th, 2011 at 11:24 PM ^
The public dialogue was, I'm looking at every other very unlikely team that's willing to offer me big dough, but not you guys. Not my alma mater, who supposedly offered me even bigger dough than one of the NFL teams I talked to. Nope, I won't even acknowledge that I thought about coming.
January 6th, 2011 at 11:13 PM ^
I wish there was some more public dialog between Michigan and the Harbaugh camp.....it just seems to quiet.
January 6th, 2011 at 11:14 PM ^

January 6th, 2011 at 11:15 PM ^
I can see Harbaugh staying one more season with Luck, and shooting for the BCS championship.
But what then?
He clearly doesn't want to stay at Stanford for years and years...if he did, he wouldn't be looking like he is. He wants to go to the NFL. No matter what, he will never be much hotter commodity than he is today.
So I see no way that he would Stay at Stanford, unless he is insane.
I still don't think he is coming here, but Miami was the least likely destination at the start of the week. Denver and SF still seem pretty likely...
January 6th, 2011 at 11:15 PM ^
I can see him wanting to work with Luck another year, but Luck will be just fine. His old school needs him more and (hopefully) the small window is too hard to pass up.
January 6th, 2011 at 11:18 PM ^
Besides the usual Harbaugh-walks-on-water adoration going on here, there also seems to be a hint that he has to feel some sort of duty to come coach at Michigan.
He doesn't owe us anything. Why would he feel compelled to come here?
January 6th, 2011 at 11:29 PM ^
Why would he feel compelled to come here, you ask? How do you feel about Michigan? You love it, no? You think he doesn't?
January 6th, 2011 at 11:34 PM ^
Would you quit your job and turn down higher paying offers to go work at U-M in a non football coach capacity? Just doing your regular job but for less money because you get to work at Michigan? He can love his alma mater all day but this is still his job at the end of the day and he's probably going to choose the best career move. That may still turn out to be Michigan, but we shouldn't hold it against him if he gets a better offer and decides to take it.
January 6th, 2011 at 11:38 PM ^
I for one will hold it against JH if he bails on us. I know this is the irrational angry fan in me talking but if he doesn't take the UM job I will root against his teams.
/powerless, useless rant

January 7th, 2011 at 12:01 AM ^
Well, we can offer more $ than Stanford, so I don't see how that applies. Further, Michigan is a better long term career move. So, on both those counts...it's Michigan. Of course, if the NFL wants to give him $8mil, I would hold no grudge.
As for me...yes...I'd take a job in A2 for less money (not a ton less). I love it there.
January 7th, 2011 at 12:04 AM ^
We're to blame.
January 7th, 2011 at 12:31 AM ^
we're talking about is astronomical. I would come to Michigan in a heartbeat, yes.
January 7th, 2011 at 12:59 AM ^
I have no problem with Harbaugh going to the pros. So that is not why I will root against him. However, I will root against him because he seemingly cock teased us only to use our love for him as a bargaining ploy to get a bigger pay day somewhere else.
I thought he was a fool when he said it, but maybe Mike Hart was right all along.
January 7th, 2011 at 1:19 AM ^
The NFL, college football, it's all about money anyway. Deny that it's Big Business. So why shouldn't JH get his piece of it? Why excoriate a guy who's is trying to make more money for himself and his family?
If Stanford or any NFL team wants to throw some insane amount money at him, he should take it.
Why do people think that the U of M HC job is a "dream job"? We just ran a head coach out of town.
January 7th, 2011 at 11:09 AM ^
I don't think this thought experiment works, since Harbaugh would likely have a closer connection to the university than the majority of us who just got degrees there or are fans of the football team. He grew up a fan, spent hours every week practicing/training, played in front of 100k fans, etc.
But still, if the difference were between 7 million a year and 5 million a year, yeah I'd be willing to take the Michigan job over the other one. Get pretty Keynesian at a certain point.
... unless I had to move away from Palo Alto to come to Michigan. Bay Area's pretty nice if you can afford it.

Here is the going exchange rate for Bolivian money:
1 US Dollar = 7.15530 Bolivian Boliviano
1 Bolivian Boliviano (BOB) = 0.13976 US Dollar (USD)
So I'm guessing JH got a couple hundred? A nice dinner plus a cigar? A wider-screen TV perhaps?

January 6th, 2011 at 11:18 PM ^
Seems like Harbaugh is about to see what just about every NFL team with an open position has to offer in only a few days time. If nothing blows his skirt up then DB can make his pitch and offer whatever it takes to pry him away from Stanford.

We really have no idea what the dialogue has been between the two parties. For all we know, it's where he wants to be but Coleman and crew feel otherwise.
January 6th, 2011 at 11:29 PM ^
Considering his status among possible coaching hires, I'll akin him to Jessica Alba, and she's welcome anytime.
January 6th, 2011 at 11:51 PM ^
Thank you sir may I have another?
January 6th, 2011 at 11:20 PM ^
I think JH is a proud man and seeing his qb make a ballsy decision to come back just might inspire him to do the same and stay at Stanford for one more year. On top of that it looks like Stanford threw the bank at him today.
I also wonder if JH stock is going down with the NFL's teams with what he wants. Our leverage may be increasing but it is still a long shot.
