Meram again. 3-0 Michigan with under 10 minutes to play. Elite 8 here we come.
November 28th, 2010 at 3:55 PM ^
Meram with the third goal! Thought he had subbed out, but I guess I misheard the announcers. In any case, we're through to the elite 8 for sure now! The greatest season in the young history of Michigan soccer will continue for another day!
November 28th, 2010 at 3:58 PM ^
He was subbed off because of an injury so he's allowed to come back on in the same half.
November 28th, 2010 at 3:57 PM ^
Have the sound off. What is going on? Bookings?
November 28th, 2010 at 3:57 PM ^
That was a dirty elbow to the head by SC. How it was only a yellow card I have no idea. Need to get out of this game w/ no injuries and no more cards...
November 28th, 2010 at 3:59 PM ^
no six minute magic plzkthx
November 28th, 2010 at 3:59 PM ^
Goal SC, makes it 3-1. 6:45 to go in the match. No need to get sloppy here, boys!
November 28th, 2010 at 3:59 PM ^
6:45 left. 3-1 Michigan.
November 28th, 2010 at 4:00 PM ^
Just hoping for no injuries or cards now.
November 28th, 2010 at 4:02 PM ^
As good as we are we have a bunch of prima donnas on our team. It makes me sick really. Just play.

Welcome to soccer. After watching alot of soccer recently (Got into the WC, watched alot of EPL recently, and now Michigan quite a bit), its just part of the gamesmanship. Just like there is an unnecessary amount of celebrating after nearly every play in football.
November 28th, 2010 at 4:14 PM ^
That's like saying "As good as our football team is, they're all so aggresive". It's just a trait of good soccer players. This is from a former soccer player.

Hope Penn St can pull it out against Maryland. Would love to go to the Elite 8 game.

Any of you guys ever have a Prof. Andy Markovits from the German department? I just saw him posting on the Mgoblue.com liveblog!
November 28th, 2010 at 4:15 PM ^
Is he still there? I had him his first year teaching at Michigan for the Sports and Society class and the class was pretty meh.
November 28th, 2010 at 4:19 PM ^
Yep, he's still around. Never had him myself, but he gave a few good talks at the German House when I lived there. Sorry his full class wasn't as good. :(

Michigan is through to the Elite 8!
November 28th, 2010 at 4:09 PM ^
in the NCAA tournament?
November 28th, 2010 at 4:13 PM ^
Pretty sure it is. Just our third trip to the Sweet 16 ever - since the program only went D-I/varsity ten years ago.
Edit: I stand corrected (see below)
November 28th, 2010 at 4:12 PM ^
The 2003 team set the bar by making the Elite 8. Men's soccer became a varsity sport at Michigan only 11 years ago. This ties the furthest that our soccer team has ever advanced.
November 28th, 2010 at 4:15 PM ^
Babyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!
November 28th, 2010 at 4:07 PM ^
Way to go Blue, on to the Elite 8. Here's hoping the other four Big Ten teams can also keep it going, so we can host Penn State next weekend.
November 28th, 2010 at 4:08 PM ^
Thanks for the link - it was great.!

November 28th, 2010 at 5:11 PM ^
Anybody have a final from the other game in Michigan's bracket?
November 28th, 2010 at 5:27 PM ^
It's in progress. 18 minutes to go in the first half, tied at 0. Live video also at ncaa.com/allaccess

MSU lost to UNC in PKs 1-1(4-5) after giving up the tying goal in the 90th minute.
Akron took down Indiana 2-1.
OSU and Lousiville set to kickoff in a few minutes.

...just scored with 2 min remaining. 1-0 Terrapins. Looks like the game next week will be in College Park.
November 28th, 2010 at 6:54 PM ^
It was just a matter of time. It seems like the whole second half has been played on the Penn State side of the field. Shots are 21-10 Maryland as well.
November 28th, 2010 at 6:57 PM ^
...just went final. 1-0 Maryland.
