Torn
My poor heart. I don't know how to take this any more. Three years is quite enough. Do I support Rich Rod despite the lack of production in Big Ten ball? How can I keep buying into this when we've only beaten something like two teams that ended the season with a winning record in the past two and a half years?
I miss Michigan football.
I, for the first time, am unsure if I want Rich Rodriguez to be given another year to get his act together. I don't see progress. I see last year with a better quarterback. I can see us losing the last seven games. I can see us sitting out of a bowl for the third straight year.
What's going wrong?
October 30th, 2010 at 11:27 PM ^
I can't say if you should buy into Rich Rod, but I think it's fair to judge after the season is over. Until then I am holding onto what I think Brandon should do.
October 30th, 2010 at 11:27 PM ^
Please don't fire RIch Rod. Another year with a new coach will be bad. Have faith in what we have now.
October 30th, 2010 at 11:34 PM ^
TD=agreed. While I don't have the points to upvote you, I will note that this is the best response. ONE game doesn't mean much after a 12 game season. Would you say "KEEP HIM 4 LIFE!!!!" after ND? No? So then stop this 1 game judgement. Please. Please. Please. Ok, you're making us both look like asses, and yourself the most (for those who say "FIRE")

And if you haven't noticed the improvement over the past 3 years, then you're blind.
October 31st, 2010 at 8:18 AM ^
Oh, stop. At what point will the positivity nazis acknowledge that those who disagree with them may not necessarily be "blind"?
Where has this amazing improvement been over the last 3 years? Has our defense improved? No. Our runningbacks? No. Our quarterback play? Yes. Our quarterbacks now are better than the walk-on who started a bunch of games in Rod's first year. That is the sum total of the team's improvement.
Two wins against the Big 10 in the first year. One last year. One so far this year. But we are massively, massively improved, because we have an increased ability to put up points against the Bowling Greens of the world. Get real.

Wins = Improvement. You must be blind and stupid
October 30th, 2010 at 11:37 PM ^
reason's why you are wrong
1. Alabama- Nick Saban
2. Nebraska- Bo Pelini
RR is more the problem now than the solution.
October 30th, 2010 at 11:46 PM ^
HAHA. So wrong! Did you say moeller was the problem too?
No. Look at RR's record. You think the BE is bad? Look at his bowl record. You think the SEC (Clemson) is bad? Look at their Bowl record (with RR). You think he's a loser? Again, look at his record. More to be posted later. All who say "coach X is a loer" are wrong. It's "THE TEAM, THE TEAM. THE TEAM/" Look at BSU. Look at OSU. Look at MSU. Rivals, but true.
Teams may be bad, but programs are more based on vaules and experience. Do we have EXP? No. Not yet. Do we have values? Ask MSU. 'nuff said. WRONG! FAIL!
October 31st, 2010 at 12:12 AM ^
Between the Moeller comment (huh?) to "Clemson in the SEC" (uh, no)...to whatever ended it ...what?
October 31st, 2010 at 11:11 AM ^
You're an Epic Fail. All of your posts are full of blind optimism when there is none to be found.
October 30th, 2010 at 11:27 PM ^
He's got the fire, we all saw what he did with the defense when he fired them up and had them make a crucial stop.
But the series of unfortunate defensive casualties may be too much to overcome for him. I mean, he has to build it from the ground up and I don't know if there is time for them to improve before even the most ardent RR supporters lose patience.
October 30th, 2010 at 11:27 PM ^
41 points to Nick fucking Sheridan.
October 30th, 2010 at 11:31 PM ^
You misspelled Evan Royster.
October 30th, 2010 at 11:40 PM ^
61%, 8.9 yards/attempt, 250 yards, 147.5 passing rating?
If I had to run a two minute drill, I'd take McGloin over Denard.
October 30th, 2010 at 11:52 PM ^
October 31st, 2010 at 12:01 AM ^
Denard can't pass the ball down the field in Big Ten play. Maybe he needs to time to heal his shoulder or something but 4.4 yards per pass attempt like he acheived in the first half just isn't going to cut it.
October 31st, 2010 at 12:23 AM ^
He's a sophomore. Give him a break. Of course he isn't going to put up the absurd numbers he was putting up earlier in the year.
October 31st, 2010 at 12:37 AM ^
The 4.4 yards per attempt from the first half is off the charts bad:
http://cfbstats.com/2010/leader/national/team/offense/split01/category0…
I don't expect ridiculous stats, merely competency against a bad Big Ten defense that had given up lots of yards earlier in the season.
October 31st, 2010 at 12:50 AM ^
McGloin's a sophomore, too and he looked like a damn All-American, that excuse needs to go bye-bye.

I miss Michigan football.
Like it or not, Michigan still has a football team that you can watch and cheer for. It's not easy some days, but it's still Michigan. I implore you to watch and cheer for the team, no matter what.
October 30th, 2010 at 11:33 PM ^
This is not Michigan. They don't lose to a first time walkon starter. Dude looked like peyton freaking manning against the D...So fn depressing.
October 31st, 2010 at 12:07 AM ^
Depressing as it was, that was Michigan and there is nothing you can do to change that.
October 31st, 2010 at 12:14 AM ^
Neither can Rich.
October 30th, 2010 at 11:34 PM ^
You're apparently not familiar with Michigan football or what it looks like. Anyone who is cheering now has a serious denial issue. The RR experiment is officially over.

Every single person posting on this message board watches and cheers for Michigan football, no matter what. Just because some of us expression frustration with the direction of the team doesn't mean that we're fair weather fans or abandoning the team, and it's really annoying when holier than thou members of the positivity police suggest otherwise.
October 30th, 2010 at 11:28 PM ^
Well, the Pistons blew a 21-point third quarter lead to lose to the Bulls tonight!
October 30th, 2010 at 11:36 PM ^
Meh, NBA, who gives a fuck. They are all legit mercenaries. College football still has some fleeting athletic authenticity (-USC/NC). Beginning of the season I said 7 wins and I'd be content, I still stand by that metric. Well it may not be fair, and may doom Michigan, I don't think you can keep the DC after this kind of performance. Even if he may be a genius in the end, I wouldn't commit to a defense with this track record if I had the talent to make a difference. /drunk sadness

is better than Sheridan and he had some serious talent surround him. He played smart and Royster blew up more than we expected him to.
October 30th, 2010 at 11:48 PM ^
I suppose you were the one telling the board that Ben Chappell was going to light up the Big 10 after the IU game.
October 30th, 2010 at 11:29 PM ^
This is a civil and level-headed thought. If you are correct, which I don't totally think you are. (Purdue is a possibility) then there will most certainly be change. Too many big time donors will threaten to pull their $$ if there isn't change after a third straight losing season.
October 30th, 2010 at 11:34 PM ^
I'll let everyone have their opinion on Rodriguez and the future of the program, but I will fight anyone who does not love this song.
October 30th, 2010 at 11:29 PM ^
That defense is horrible. Not sure that anything can fix it except for time. I think that we'll be lucky to win another game this year.
October 30th, 2010 at 11:41 PM ^
or any more than this next year, might as well get a competent coaching staff. And wtf Barwis when is the D-line going to get some strength!!!!!!?
October 30th, 2010 at 11:43 PM ^
I think things could look very different with this exact same group of defensive players with a change of coaching personnel, be it due to scheme, teaching, or approach.

I hate it, and tonight is the first time I've actually thought this since RR was hired, but I have to agree with the OP. Maybe this year isn't the same as last year, but its pretty damn close. We look bad. We look silly, and I hate it.
October 30th, 2010 at 11:51 PM ^
Yeah I sent multiple texts in this game about Defense, Special Teams, and also the seldom mentioned limited passing tree...eventually we have to realize this may not be working. I dread a new coaching search though.

Really? Well, the defense. And the defense. Oh, and the defense. I think the defense is probably not as good as it needs to be, either.
October 30th, 2010 at 11:46 PM ^
special teams.
October 30th, 2010 at 11:30 PM ^
But, deep down It is getting harder to defend this staff.
October 30th, 2010 at 11:34 PM ^
I'll defend anyone that works for the offense. If you can't win by scoring 31 points something's wrong with the defense.
