Any word on Shaw? I thought we'd know yesterday...
IIRC, Shaw had to take a test yesterday, and the results would determine if he is eligible or not. Since it's been quiet, I'm wondering if anyone has heard anything from insiders. It seems like the coaches would want to know ASAP, and that'd be a hard secret to keep.
Anyone? Bueller?

This isn't the Scout/Rivals free board. If there is word, someone will post on it.

Well, I ARE A COLLEGE GRADUTE!

Ya I was really surprised when RR said they STILL didn't know about his eligibility as of yesterday.
I know we have a lot of available running backs, but with Toussaint injured, it would be nice to have Shaw and Smith as some guys with experience.
On another note, does anyone know how Toussaint is doing and if he'll be able to go on Saturday?

I would have assumed that him being listed in the first slot with Vincent Smith on the depth chart would have been a clue.

Sam Webb today said he was guessing they would know wednesday or thursday. He had a good feeling about Shaw being eligible but said he did not know.

Whenever Sam Webb "has a good feeling" about something it's pretty much true.
August 31st, 2010 at 7:42 PM ^
not always, when he has a "gut feeling" it's a lock.

I don't know if those guys were ever regarded as "gut feelings."
I do know that Sean Parker was silently committed to Michigan, at least for a short time. Sam can't help it if a kid changes his mind. I seem to recall that Parker was doing some recruiting for M while at the Army AA game, and was to be on the cover of GBW's recruiting edition.

a shot at Sam Webb, as I believe that whenever this happens, a kid actually has given a silent commit, and then changes.
But it's precisely because they change their minds (and it seems as it's happening more and more each year) that a gut feeling ain't worth what it used to be, and is certainly not a stone cold lock anymore.
August 31st, 2010 at 7:47 PM ^
he did preface it by saying he had no inside information...and it wasn't a 'gut feeling'.
August 31st, 2010 at 7:02 PM ^
And I would have assumed that since it hasn't been updated since the 27th that it doesn't mean much, considering that he hadn't taken his test yet.
August 31st, 2010 at 6:57 PM ^
I hope that info isn't released until 30 seconds before kickoff.... Edsall shouldn't be the only one w/ the gamesmanship.

My guess is they're still waiting to hear what his grade was for the class he took? It's probably bad form to email the professor and tell him/her to hurry up with the grades because they've got a game to play etc. I'm just assuming he did fine.

When Ferris Bueller's Day Off arrived in theatres. To say that I, uh, fantasized about Mia Sara would be an understatement. She was the ideal girlfriend, IMHO.

I think a previous post from FormerWolv said that Shaw was taking his test today. If so, that would fit with the Sam Webb statement that we should know on Wed/Thurs.

He has worked very hard in the off season on his academics and I believe he will be rewarded with his eligibility granted. Shaw's speed is greatly needed in the backfield this season. Especially with the status of Vincent Smith's knee being in game shape unknown. Looking for a big y.p.c year this season from Shaw. GO BLUE

They did find out, but they're not going to tell anyone, as usual.
Unless, of course, there is a thread asking about it on Scout or MgoBlog.

Shaw and Smith - "They've been the most consistent." Well-rounded with running, protection, and receiving. They understand offense the best. Michael Shaw's eligibility will be known in next couple days.
August 31st, 2010 at 8:05 PM ^
I can't say whether he is ineligible at this point--all I can legally say is that the results of his latest grade submissions are nothing short of shocking.
As in, he's in.

UMgoblog just tweeted that sources are saying that Shaw is eligible, but I am guessing the same sources said lebron was going to cleveland, chicago, new york and miami.
August 31st, 2010 at 8:39 PM ^
I can attest to the fact that their source on this one is legit. Or at least legit enough to have a reason to start celebrating.
