August 25th, 2010 at 9:46 PM ^
Nope. No Michigan fans in PA. Best of luck to you.

Beat me to it :)

Consider yourself lucky...being stuck in Erie I get half Penn State, half Ohio State. It's hell to try and watch a game at the bar wearing a Michigan jersey.
(To answer your question, YES, but not close to York)

Aren't they only at two in a row, now?
Welcome to MGOBlog, BTW! Enjoy responsibly!

Another fan in Lancaster? I thought I was the only one who would be here and checking this site out...Would be great to watch with some true fans!!
August 25th, 2010 at 10:02 PM ^
hey cheesmo.. i would be open to watching some Michigan games in the future.

Count me in. (Assuming my wife's residency schedule cooperates.)

I'm in Hanover, kiddies.
Go Blue

A "Blue" State for generations.

They think they're going to win 9 in a row? They obviously haven't been checking the Class of 2015 recruiting boards lately. I remember back in '97, I knew for sure that we were going to win 9 in a row on them.

Scranton here.

There are Michigan fans everywhere. I lived in Philly for a year and came across a good amount of fans. Some of them may have been tourists but I was actually surprised at how many people I saw in M gear. They aren't really Penn State fans in Philly though because of temple, st joe's and villanova so that could be the difference.

Michigan fan holding strong in Philly...originally from NE Ohio however. Bowling Green grad. I'm just the worst kind of person aren't I?
August 25th, 2010 at 10:03 PM ^
That's 3!
August 25th, 2010 at 10:07 PM ^
I live in York too. Penn St fans everywhere and enough OSU fans to make it Ohio-lite. Glad to hear that there is at least one other Wolverines fan around.

I'm in Manayunk too. Manayunk Ave actually...Actually I've run into more Pitt kids than actual Penn State fans.

I just moved to the area. I'm on St. Davids St. I'm headed to the opener against UConn.

Just outside of Youngstown, OH, there's a pretty good Michigan following there too. A lot of that has to do with Marlin Jackson coming out of there, and the fact that we recruit the Youngstown area pretty well.

The name actually sounds familiar, what year did he graduate? We had quite a few showdowns with New Wilmington back in the day.

I graduated from Sharon in '01 with Marlin (played corner opposite him, for some reason teams tended to pick on me a lot, never figured out why). Wilmington knocked us off my freshman year when we were ranked #1 in the state all year long...I'm still bitter.

The Fox and Hound in center city is actually a Michigan bar. I went down there for a couple of games last year. They have a big section reserved for Michigan fans and alumni and get some good crowds especially for the big games.

...BUT I CAN HEAR YOU DOWN HERE IN OLD VIRGINNY. KEEP IT DOWN YOU KEYSTONERS!
August 25th, 2010 at 10:28 PM ^
...don't yell.
In case you're new to the internet, typing in all caps means you're yelling. I don't want people yelling at me, especially when I'm just trying to read my favorite blog.
As for the topic, I'm in MI so I can't help you.

Harrisburg here. I know of a few other UM fans in town as well.
August 26th, 2010 at 8:08 AM ^
to a fellow UM fan on the Susquehanna.
August 25th, 2010 at 10:29 PM ^
The closest major city is Philly. So I half qualify.
August 25th, 2010 at 10:32 PM ^
I grew up in Ohio but maybe 30 min from Pittsburgh. I lived there right around the time PSU was joining the B10 and was told countless times how PSU would dominate.
It was pretty rough being a non-Steeler and a UM fan.

Out with it.

I'm working on moving down to Philly myself. I've been to Fox and Hound. Had a pretty good time, so check (checks map) oh, York is far away. Nevermind.
On that note, anyone have a job for a researcher/coordinator in the Philly area?

I'm in Pittsburgh, and I actually don't know of any other Michigan fans here - it's pretty sad. All Ohio State, Pitt, and Penn State fans. I do know there is a very large contingent in Philadelphia though. The Alumni Association rents out space in a bar every Saturday in downtown Philly for people to come and watch the game.
August 25th, 2010 at 10:55 PM ^
You are missing out. As a fellow Burgh resident, there are quite a few of us Michigan alums in the city. The alumni association in this area closed down a while back (apparently) which doesn't make much sense to me considering all the folks I know around here.
August 27th, 2010 at 10:39 PM ^
Is there any bar around town that people regularly meet up in to watch the game? I'd love to go out and be social instead of staring at my crappy little tv at home, but I'm always worried whatever bar I go to won't have the game on because no one's interested in it.

Steel city ftw
August 25th, 2010 at 11:03 PM ^
NO! PENNSYLVANIA HAS NO MICHIGAN FANS!
Wait. What the hell? 9 in a row? The chances of that happening are incredibly slim.
August 25th, 2010 at 11:15 PM ^
Pottsville, PA here and I plan on making the trip to State College this year with 3 other UM fans as well!!

No kidding-- I worked for several years on Mahantongo.
